Secret Santa 2005

I’m so happy you liked everything. I knew the jam was ok, what’s not to like?
I love planning out gifting, and when you said hand-made, I couldn’t resist.

The stained glass crafting is fairly expensive to get started. The tools are specialized, so cost a lot, IMHO.
I taught myself, so didn’t pay for classes, which cost, here anyway, around $400 for a couple hours a week for 4 weeks, plus the cost of materials.
Art glass is expensive, especially since you end up throwing so much away, especially while learning. I got lucky and was given about $5000 worth of glass by a friend who was getting divorced.
My on-going expenses are mainly copper foil, and solder. Their prices have climbed considerably because of the war. A pound of middle of the road solder went for $8.00 3 years ago, now it’s $17.00, but, I can usually find it on line, for $5-$7 plus shipping.
All that aside, I love doing it. If I don’t stay busy, I get into trouble.

I’m so glad you liked them. It made me rather nervous picking ‘pretty’ stuff for someone else, since everyone says the things I like best are weird.
Does the pen stand up to being used, btw? I was afraid it might ‘shed’ beads all over the place.

Omega Glory – you haven’t been forgotten. I’ll mail your package tomorrow.

No present here, either. :frowning:
Are we three the last, or are there other wall flowers left?

All together now:
Nobody loves us, everybody hates us, guess we’ll go eat woooo-oooor-mmmmmms.

They are adorable, aren’t they?

I was worried that you might have that particular book already, but I took a chance… and you see from the gift card that it was SUPPOSED to be Gift #1, so that all would have been explained…

Ah, well.

Ooh, I can’t wait to see what you picked out!:). Starving, you might not be the only ones, since there’s a few people who haven’t checked in yet.

I’ll be emailing the people who haven’t sent their gifts yet soon. My new dog has one of the worst sleeping schedules ever so I’m a running a bit behind, but I haven’t forgotten this thread.

You’ll find out in about a week. (It was a fairly heavy package, so I sent it media mail.)

Nope, I didn’t have the book , and I love it ! There is one pic of a widdle bebe meerkitten peeking out of his burrow that turns me into a quivering mass of goo !

And… I shall be drinking my morning coffee out of one very cool SDMB mug tomorrow ! So all arrived ! Thank you soo much !!

Anna

You’re so very welcome. This was great fun!

Omega Glory, was my Secret Santa in India? 'Cause I just got a blue envelope from there, with no return address, and unfortunately no contents. I know it wasn’t my family because it says Anaamika and no one else knows that handle except for Dopers.

Help?

Well, I mailed the package to Airzona a week ago, and I have not heard anything from my giftee. I hope that she received it alright. :frowning:

I don’t know what to tell you. No one from India participated in the exchange. Your Santa is a Canadian member. Did you participate in another exchange with an Indian doper?

Doesn’t “Anaamika” mean something in Hindu? Maybe the letter-writer just rolled staright sevens…

Yes it does, but that frightens me more than a little. What non-Doper Indian knows I go by the name Anaamika around here? Does that mean my family’s been reading my posts? Bad enough if my family here read them, but overseas - they’d flip. They already don’t even like my current non-marital status.

Omega Glory, was my Secret Santa **Kytherea **for both giving and receiving? Cause I sent mine and it was received, but I haven’t received one yet at all.

No, no one gave to and received from the same person, so **Kytheria ** isn’t your Santa. I set it up so that people who shipped to Canada received from Canada and vice versa.

I’m going to start sending out reminder emails to people whose gifts haven’t been received yet tomorrow.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help! That’s really strange and weird. Let us know what’s going on if you find out.

**
EvilAsh**, the package arrived perfectly on Wednesday. Thank you so much, you couldn’t have picked a better book. (World War II The Axis Assault 1939-1942) I’m halfway through and really enjoying it. And the cc cookies and brownies are yummy. I made myself stash half of each in the freezer for later, but I’m thinking tonight might just be later enough. So thank you again, and I’m sorry about my tardiness posting.

In other words, emails are going out to non senders, and to people who should have received but haven’t checked in to let their Santa know yet.

I’m glad you’re enjoying them. So did the cookies and brownies come through relatively intact, or did you get a big-bag-o’-crumbs?

The cookies were a bit stuck together (perfectly tasty), but the brownies looked newly cut. So no worries.

auRa! It finally came, yesterday!

It is a comic book…in Finnish. Now if that wasn’t cool enough, auRa provided post-it notes on every page with an english translation, plus other little coments. This is so amazingly cool I feel humbled to have recieved it. I can’t wait to actually sit down and read it.

Thanks!
