This is actually a joke I tell some of my therapy clients about medical activity on their part, including getting vaccinated.
This is IMO a foolish hill to literally die on, but humans in general and Catholics in particular have been celebrating people who die for their beliefs for a long time now.
Gonna just drop it at this because other than definitely wanting to argue, I can’t even tell what you’re all taking issue with at this point. But I think you posted the wrong joke. You wanted the one where before the guy dies, “God,” who hasn’t actually done anything to help anyone, says “you dumb prick, I hope you do die. You’re probably a Republikan.”
This is where it gets pointed out again that the vaccinated have done literally everything humanly possible to protect the unvaccinated from this disease. It is the purposefully unvaxxed who are doing nothing to protect themselves, and are actively endangering the lives of others by their behavior. They are going to restaurants, and stores, and theme parks, and any place that is open, without masks, without doing the tiniest thing to protect others from this disease.
It is the ultimate in selfish behavior, endangering the lives of others for their own personal comfort. The fact that those endangered are primarily of similar selfish mindset is the only aspect of this fiasco that keeps me from losing it entirely.
And this is perfectly reasonable. The rants here are for the people who are healthy, where there is no physical reason they couldn’t get the vaccine and they refuse to for a myriad of unreasonable “reasons”.
Yes, Black and Latino/a communities have been slow getting the vax. Some of it is difficulty getting off work, etc. Much of it is fear. The good news is that there has been a rise in vaccination rates in these communities. The Trump republican communities are still stagnant.
The analogy works better if the idiot also starts pulling old ladies from their boats to drown all while screaming that they should die for their freedoms. I wonder what God would say to the guy in that case?

It’s reasonable? My pre-existing condition made it all the more important to get vaccinated. It is the people with pre-existing conditions who are more likely to die from it.
Very often yes, this is the case.
This is why it is especially important for people to actually speak with their medical professionals (doctor) about vaccinations, rather than just coming to the conclusion themselves that “oh, I have some condition, so I will choose not to get vaccinated”
I suspect a lot of the last one is going on. I recently spoke with a young lady who was not going to get vaccinated because she was planning on having children some day. Someone on facebook told her the vaccine would make her sterile, so she was not going to get it.
