I’m a bad person because I don’t remember the particulars of the OP’s breakup. Having gone through a divorce, however, it’s worth mentioning that if she wasn’t ready to marry you back then, then it speaks more highly of her judgment that she didn’t go through with it than it would if she had gone through with it and made herself and everyone else unhappy. Doesn’t mean she’s ready now, but entering a stable career is certainly a time when someone could be thinking about making other permanent improvements.
Oh, and my ex still slips and calls me “babe” every now and then. Old habits and all that. Of course, she’s a BPD nutter who will make these “slips” in front of her current squeeze and/or my current wife as well as when it’s just the two of us, so I’m being generous by assuming they are accidental.
I recommend clearing your mind with some spirited driving, preferably in a classic English sports car if you have one that runs.
