Well, I learned something in the thread.
Shodan’s posts?
First off, what is it that I’ve said to you that has hurt your little feelings so much that you must attack me in a thread that has nothing to do with me? Chances are, it’s because you acted like a dickhead, and I called you on it. Does that bug you, widdle baby? Good. That’s the point of calling someone out.
Second, my goal is not that everyone should get along (as the above should make obvious). It’s that certain actions are morally wrong, and if you do them, you deserve to be called out on them. I’ve asked repeatedly for people to tell me what’s wrong with my logic here, and no one has done so. I just get attacked about things I didn’t say.
For example, I already explained my post about mhendo’s bullying of Quasimodem, a guy with a mental disorder who very clearly did not understand what was going on. The Pit is a place for equals–where both sides can attack each other. Not a place to gang up on someone with Alzheimer’s. I already explained my logic for why making someone no longer want to engage with the outside world would hasten their demise. I even explained that I was using hyperbole. Yet people keep on saying I said something I didn’t, because that makes it easier for them to lash out at me.
And, finally, I know my posts like this are annoying. Thing is, I’m not going to sit back and not defend myself when attacked. I know I’m not good at coming up with insults, and that my stuff often sounds lame and annoying. So I’ve turned that into a positive. Being annoying is itself a rather powerful weapon. I’ve clearly gotten into the monkey’s brain, even though I don’t even know what the hell I’ve done to him.
So, you give us a long explanation of why said you what you said. And then…
you assert that you didn’t say what you said.
Which is it? Did you say that stuff, and stand behind it? Or is wrong to accuse you of saying that stuff?
Either fucking own it, or admit that you were an idiot.
Why not? What’s the downside to shrugging something off? Especially something as harmless as a random stranger’s comment on an anonymous message board… I can understand Quasi not being able to, but any of us with our full faculties could. And maybe should.
Seriously, once I got over that, I became a much more relaxed, maybe even happy person.

He doesn’t specify warm regards or ill regards. But, he’s thinking! And that’s a start. 
Douchey signoffs should be required to go in signatures, and adhere to the “once per thread” informal restriction that’s already in place. But hey, at least the douchebags who sign off on their forum posts are upfront with their douchebaggery. This makes it very easy to avoid interacting with them.
