Short women/tall women: Do they have any special appeal?

How about it? I remember a number of girls from high school who were particularly short or particularly tall; I got the idea, however, that to mention a girl’s height, or lack of same, was to invite an angry or crude response. But do women as short as Dolly Parton (4’10") or as tall as Tina Turner (6’, I believe) have any distinctive appeal for this reason?

WOW! There’s another entry I now have for the “Smart-ass remarks you didn’t make” thread!

Anyway, I’m sure you’ve all heard it.

A woman can be attractive at any height, but I prefer them to be tall. This is probably because I am six foot four, and it helps for women to be at least over five and a half feet, or else it just looks and feels strange.

We must blame them and cause a fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us.

Never dated anyone under 5’10". Married a woman that is 6’1". The short women/tall men theory is definitely not an absolute.

I knew plenty of tall guys that did date shorter girls (high school and college.) I could safely get away with mocking how it looked, but a lot of the guys did it because the girl’s height didn’t attract so much as their looks (or popularity, or intelligence, or in some cases, their easiness.)

Takes all kinds I suppose.

My sig line is currently unavailable. Please check this post in 1 hour when we resume our broadcast day.

I seem to remember a posting–about women with large breasts, in General Questions–a while back; the man is 6’3" and his wife is 5 feet tall! And a magazine ran an article a few months ago, about married couples whose physical contrasts are quite unusual–including one big hulking man and his tiny wife. (I created a fictitious couple like that, Stan and Louise Brown; Dave Barry mentioned “Stan and Louise” in his special Millennium article; he must be psychic!! :D)

I’m a Tina Turner fan from way back, and she is reportedly precisely my height: 5’3". She just has a really tall personality :)Some possible tall substitutes: Geena Davis, Jenna Elfman, Martha Stewart

I’m 5’5" and my husband is 6’2". We look fine together, not Mutt and Jeffish at all.

Unless everyone I know is lying to me. If that’s the case, then we’re freaks. RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

      • I know a few great ladies of rather small stature. I’ve dated very few though, because past a certain point it gets clumsy, especially when slow dancing and hugging. AAAAAnnnnd during other times, when (ahem) other difficulties can arise- if it seems like I’m with a kid. I’d just say, I much prefer someone closer to my height (6’2") than farther from it. - MC

Sorry, Catrandom: I saw a picture of her with a designer, who I think is named “Azaia” or something; she towers over him!

Dougie, that was no designer—it was Billy Barty!

Me, I think Michael J. Fox and Max Linder are hot, and they’re both under 5’5".

Being a relatively tall woman (5’11" or so), I’ve often had occasion to use a line first told to me by one of my ex-boyfriends.

You know what they say about tall women, right?

Short women are the best! Course, I am only five feet tall so I am a little biased. I went to see Duece Bigelow with my 6 foot 2 inch female friend Kerri, and I laughed every time they showed “Tina”.

DOnt laugh at Tina, Id be on her if I was single…lol

my wife is 6’3" and that was the biggest turn on at first look.

The movie database us.imdb.com has Dolly at 5’ even and Tina at 5’3" Catrandom was right, Tina has a tall personality and legs that look a lot taller. Maybe the 4’10" figure was Dolly laying on her back.

I can’t think of any women in show biz or the public eye under five feet. I won’t say I have a thing for really short women but there was one I knew in…<drifting off to my “special” place> Uh, what was the question again?

5’7" is perfect for a female, in my opinion; small enough to cuddle, big enough to play with.

Remember, you can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish!

Doesn’t really matter. I guess if I had the choice I’d take someone a little taller (I’m 6’4") but height isn’t that big a deal for me.

My father is 6’4" and my mother is 5’5", by the way.

I don’t have an evil side. Just a really, really apathetic one.

If they show any interest in me, I don’t care about their height or even what they look like.

I have been accused of having a “thing” for individuals of short stature, seeing as how I have never gone out with/dated/slept with anyone over 5’6". I don’t, that’s just the way things worked out. As for the attraction factor as far as tall women like myself are concerned, I haven’t noticed that it makes much of a difference. Attraction is often a very subtle thing, and height isn’t always the first factor you notice unless it is so out of the ordinary that it becomes glaringly obvious.

An infinite number of rednecks in an infinite number of pickup trucks shooting an infinite number of shotguns at an infinite number of road signs will eventually produce all the world’s great works of literature in Braille.

Height has never been a thing with me. I think it’s because I don’t have any. I’m 5’1", so pretty much everyone is taller than me. A lot of people think I’m taller than that, though. It’s been said that I have a “tall personality.” Yeah right. I think I just look mean, and they’re afraid of calling me “short.” Heh.

Tallest guy I dated was 6’4." Never had a problem dancing. As for sex, well, they’re all the same height laying down.

I’ve been attracted to ladies of all statures. And I must challenge the “They’re all the same size in the sack” assertion.

My girlfriend through much of my college years stood only 4’11" (I’m a six-footer)…after a while, your knees develop constant bruising from the flurry of kicking little feet.
