Though it was only a short run from 2004, I really wanted more of Wonderfalls.
I jumped in to say this. Also, Barney Miller.
CHCH in Toronto has a Retro block each weekday from 10:00 to 18:00. Barney Miller is one of the series they strip from time to time. Since I moved here, I’ve seen more episodes than I did when it was on the network in the '70s and '80s.
One they haven’t shown so far is Night Court, which I would dearly love to see again, along with LA Law. I quit watching the latter after I went through a really bad breakup in the middle of the first season and have always thought I should see how it developed.
I loved that show, and saw the second season on DVDs I got from Netflix. I even bought the DVDs of the third and fourth seasons from Amazon but for whatever reason never got around to watching them. And at some point I read the book and saw the movie. (One oddity is that John Houseman, who so memorably played Professor Kingsfield, wasn’t really an actor before this. Mostly he was a drama teacher, and theater producer and director. And yet he won an Academy Award for the movie role.)
Something else I’d add to the list is the recent spy series on Starz called Counterpart, which almost no one watched. It might have done better if they sold the second-run rights to Netflix.
Believe it or not, I just got back from a trip to Belarus. I flew home on LOT, and watched five episodes of an excellent Polish spy series called Illegals. It was subtitled, but large parts of it were in English (along with Swedish and Russian).
If you can find Illegals on line or on DVD, I highly recommend it.
For me it would be Law & Order: CI especially the episodes with Goren (of which there were fewer in the later seasons). Nash Bridges is another, and it ended abruptly without a proper send-off.

Top of the list would have to be “Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp”. It aired for about 4 months in the early 70’s on Saturday morning and was a hoot. It was similar to “Get Smart” but was populated by chimps in outfits with dubbed voices (some with unfortunate cringe-worthy stereotypes, but mostly fun). Apparently, there is a boxed-set out there with all of the episodes. If you’d like a taste, there are several episodes available on YouTube (only 17 aired in total).
I miss the TV series “Leverage,” which ran from 2008 to 2010; “Las Vegas,” which ran from 2003 to 2008; and finally “Rizzoli and Isles” (2010-2016).
There’s a revival currently in production, by IMDb TV and Amazon Studios. It has most of the original cast (other than Timothy Hutton).
I never saw Leverage, but I watched and liked Hustle, which was a sort-of similar UK series.
Yeah–I saw something about that a few weeks ago. Hopefully it will be as good as the original. Thanks for the link.
Back in 2012, there was a series called Vegas with Michael Chiklis. It was set in the early '60s and was pretty good, kind of like a prequel to Crime Story. I was disappointed when it was cancelled after only one season.
I was probably 7 or so when that show was first on Saturday morning network TV, and I enjoyed it back then. I, too, found an episode of it online a few years ago – I’ll respectfully disagree with you, as I don’t think it aged well at all.
Part of it is certainly the cringey stereotypes, as well as performing chimpanzees in outfits, which is a thing that doesn’t happen much these days. But, beyond that, the pacing of it is just painfully slow, as we watch chimps slowly walking around, and trying to manipulate tools and equipment.
I’ve caught this program on Comet, one of the sideband digital channels over-the-air here in the PDX area. Dated, but interesting enough to watch it if I caught it on.
I would have guessed I was the only person who remembered ‘Lance Link’, let alone admit to watching it.
It’s on Pluto, has a channel unto itself (140)…free, but you can’t skip commercials, record, etc.
I’ll nominate “Taxi,” here with a very young Tom Hanks.
Also, the recently not renewed Lodge 49.
And “Sneaky Pete.”
Thanks. Yeah–I’ve watched it on Pluto for a while. And I ended up buying the entire series through iTunes.
But I really want new episodes, and it looks like that may happen, though it won’t be the same without Timothy Hutton at Nate.
