Yay!
BTW, I’ll be visiting family this weekend. I’ll be limited to phone posting until Sunday night.
I DON’T WANT TO POST FLUFF. I HAVE THINGS TO SAY.
god fluff it.
Good Morning everyone, except TexCat who is now dead.
TexCat a Simpleton is dead.
It is now Day.
Bah!
Damn - I was holding out a hope that killing an “Assassin” meant we took their nightkill away. I have no idea what that role is supposed to do, especially considering that all of the roles are supposed to be basic.
If we have an investigative role with any useful results, I hope they’ll start considering when to claim. Scum’s target pool is getting smaller and smaller.
A ton of stuff happened at the end of the Day yesterday. I need to look it all over and unpack it at all. One thing is for sure - Biotop’s quick unvote of septimus and subsequent rant when he didn’t realize we’d lynched scum seems pretty telling.
Let’s look at some colors.

Ok, so last round I picked snfaulkner because they had no votes in round 1. I wanted to make sure everyone had had at least one. Kind of gauges how people react and there was nothing to judge in this case at the beg of day 2. I was planning on unvoting and revoting if I felt someone had a compelling case for another player, but snfaulkner’s reaction to being voted for cemented me. It was protesting TOO much. It was enough to make me keep my vote, but not strong enough of a hunch to talk about it. Like it was just a feeling, nothing I could really put into words.
And I was right, so yay me.
Since I know when I’m being incorrectly identified, my Spidey sense is tingling in this direction.
Vote Biotop
I had a flash yesterDay that Biotop was Scum. I still think I’m right:
Vote Biotop
Who is his Scum partner(s)? It seems quite possible snfaulkner was the only other Scum. Two goons versus 8 Vanilla Towns (or 7 Vanillas and a Scotsman) sounds about balanced.
If there are three Scum, Town would need a Cop and at least one other power role to be balanced (and [meta-reason] the Mod might have been happy to get an 11th player on board). But no Power role has turned up.
I don’t think you ever actually explained why you were suddenly 100% confident that Biotop was scum. You also never really explained why you were so confident that Texcat was his scum partner.
Please explain both lines of reasoning.
Fair Rarity, I still have a bruise on my chin from when my jaw dropped after reading this post last Night. I think you are Town now because you could have switched off of snfaulkner, but didn’t. But please understand that my criticism of your absence is valid. Not posting for days is unhelpful at best.
I like septimus’ theory. Two Scum, Seven vanilla Town. All quite convenient. Except for one thing. It doesn’t explain the suicide. The second suicide, not the first one. Because any way you look at it, snfaulkner committed suicide.
Why didn’t snfaulkner switch his vote to septimus?
snfaulkner could have unvoted Johnny Bravo and voted for septimus at any time near EOD. It would be an easy “self-preservation” vote, like we have discussed a number of times already in this game. No one would have held that against him. He was online at the time. So why didn’t he do that? He took a certain death, as Scum, instead of making the obvious switch to septimus and living for at least another round. snfaulkner for some reason committed suicide.
Can anyone explain this?
I made my anti-Town mistake when I voted for septimus out of frustration. I was worried that I might have cost us the game. Instead, I think I gave snfaulkner no winning choice.
Vote septimus
And oh, by the way, if we do have power roles, please post if you have something to say that might influence the critical Day 3 vote. But otherwise, be careful about outing yourselves prematurely.
You keep citing who was online at certain times, but this is a bad habit. Online statistics don’t account for windows left open, phone browsers left active, or whatever else. It’s a kind of meta-evidence that doesn’t really mean anything.
Just because somebody was technically “online” per the board’s timers doesn’t mean that they were actually reading the thread, let alone able to post.
At 3:43pm EST, with just 17 minutes to go until possible EOD, snfaulkner WAS online and posted this:

Ok, I haven’t got much time to go into any detail right now. However, here is what im feeling.
Septimus, I believe you are most likely town, regardless of your big blue claim. While it certainly doesn’t take much to make me believe biotop is scum, jb’s case against you seems like total flailing to me, reinforcing my vote for him. Also, I agree with you about texcat. She seems to be sitting back and pulling strings. I can certainly envision jb/texcat/biotop scumfront.
I now must shower, install pants, find caffeine, a drive to the acid mines. I doubt I will be there in time for the secret fuzzy deadline.
At the time the vote was 3 to 2, actually in favor of septimus.
Johnny Bravo, what would you, or I, or any reasonable player who has been given a Scum role do at this time? We would put our vote on Town **septimus **to ensure our survival. We might apologize to septimus, but them’s the breaks.
He didn’t do that. He said he thought** septimus** was Town and went to take a shower.
I am not making up this timeline. Go back and look for yourself.
He probably didn’t expect me to turn around and switch my vote so quickly and so close to the end of the day. Occam’s razor. It’s not “suicide” because he wasn’t the lynch leader when he posted that. He didn’t know that I was watching to see if he’d give me a reason to do what I did.
Regardless, I don’t completely disagree with you. I think there’s a lot of evidence against septimus. I also think there’s still plenty of evidence against you. I think you’re bussing each other in the hope that whichever of you dies, the other will gain town cred after a scum flip.
My post #229 outlines plenty of suspicious activity involving you three, and I bet that when I go back with fresh eyes and knowledge that snfaulkner was truly scum, I’ll find even more.
In the meanwhile, this bears commenting upon:
Bolding mine. Your attempt to characterize your throwaway vote and subsequent unvote as a key factor in yesterday’s is positively Orwellian in its revisionism.
NETA: *in yesterday’s lynch.
When it appeared very likely that you were Town and therefore sincere I re-examined your case agiasnt Biotop and found it very strong. If Biotop is not a Scum mastermind, he’s doing a good imitation of one.
I was never sure who Biotop’s Scum partner(s) were. TexCat was a top suspect because she didn’t seem to be doing much scum-hunting, and didn’t weigh in on Biotop or you. As shown in the vote record, I went back and forth on her.
Unfair again. My vote was a throwaway vote. I have never said otherwise. But it shook up the game in ways I never could have guessed.
So *why *did it shake up the game? Don’t you think septimus’ reaction a bit overblown? I sure do.
If you go ahead and lynch me, and I turn Town as I will, what next? Well it’s all good if then you kill **septimus **next provided there were only, as septimus suggests, two Scum. You all kill him next and we still win.
But if there were three Scum to start, then we would need two tie breakers to win. Not good odds.
If **septimus ** and I were both Scum, then we would be fake arguing against each other just to eventually set up an endgame tie. That would be our best case scenario with an even number of players. Sure we could choose not to night kill someone the last night, as was discussed in the previous game, but I am laying that idea open here. If such a situation arises it makes good sense from everything that has occurred to vote for the one of us remaining.
I’m not sure of septimus yet, but I’m getting more and more confident about Biotop.
And even if septimus turns out to be scum, this round the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Alas I am not your enemy if you are Town. I disagree with your play which, while understandable for a new player to our games, is actually not helpful to the Town cause. What about my play makes you think I am Scum? What about septimus? Do you have any thoughts on the other players?
You said you had “things to say.” What are those things? Mafia is a participation game. I believe in holding players accountable for that participation if they are on my team.
