Since It Ain't Up Yet, Here's The MMP

Home, eating habenero Bachelor Food.

Yay, Spaz!

swampy, I am the adult supervision at my apartment. Scary, innit?:D(At least to anyone who’s read any of my MMP OPs)

Kanga,

Isn’t there a saying about a prophet having no honor in their own land?

So, I tell the brother about the problem with the shower. The soap holder is falling off the wall, but it’s still connected to the tiles. The tiles have pulled away from the wall. Clearly, rivers of water have gone down the wall, soaking greenboard, possibly drywall (on a shared wall with the neighbor), down to the ceiling in the garage, and probably soaking some structural studs as well. And what do we have lots of in Texas? Mold.

I’m looking at this problem, and I understand that a) the tiles got to be pulled down, b) the whole underside needs to be inspected, c) the greenboard may need to be replaced, and I don’t know what you do to prevent mold from growing in those enclosed areas, and d) the whole shower/tub needs to be re-tiled, re-grouted, and re-caulked.

What does brother do? He gets a tube of caulk and reattaches the soap holder to the wall. Should be good to go by tomorrow morning, he tells me.

I realize it’s an extremely unpleasant prospect. I know it sucks. But sticking your fingers in your ears and going “lalalalalalalalala” does not help things. No better!

grumble not my fucking house I’m not taking the hit grumble

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 66 out with a predicted high of 85. Up in ye olde hometowne ‘tis 63 Amurrkin with a predicted high of 81 and possibly rain, so it may end up bein’ an indoor cookout. Or would that be a cookin?

kanga you did your part. It’s up to the bro to fix things. Sounds like this is a problem that’s been comin’ on for a while.

doggio I thought gordie was the adult supervision at your place.

shortdrum who knows, maybe burpable kitchenware is your callin’! I loves me some Tupperware[sup]TM[/sup] personally. I guard mine jealously.

Ok, I need more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Also need to purtify and get on the road. I need to stop by Publix to pick up an orchid corsage for mom (N.O.M), as well as condiments, buns and paper plates (actually I have those here at da cave) and when I get there I’ll get some ice cause somehow I don’t believe a couple bags of ice will survive a two and a half hour drive.

Happy Sattidy Y’all! I’ll attempt to sneak in a post or two whilst there.

Morning! I’m up, caffeinated, and off to work. Gonna watch hockey with my “just friend” tonight.

swampy, Gordie likes to watch himself pee on his foot. I don’t think he’s command materiel.

It’s supposed to be damn fine outside today. I’ve already got the slider open so the dogs can go in and out at will and not pester me.

In about an hour so, I’m going to clean myself up and head out for a pedicure. That is, if my plans aren’t somehow changed by my husband.

Two of my son’s high school buddies came by last night and ended up staying the night. They’re still here.

As I mentioned earlier this week, we have to be at our friends’ house by around two for a good day of grilling, badminton and horseshoes. It seems there’s going to be quite a lot of people there. The gathering has grown from our usual core group of six to thirteen people, plus a couple of extra dogs. We’re leaving our dogs home because two of the dogs, plus our friends’ new puppy are quite small. I don’t want my Polar to think one of them is a stuffie. Besides, the toddler granddaughter of one our friends will be there, and I don’t want Polar to knock her over. He loves that yard and runs and runs and runs and just generally becomes quite rambunctious. It’s not a problem if it’s just us and the bigger dogs, but I don’t want to take any chances today.

So, I’m going out later on this lovely, sunny Spring day, to look at two apartments. One is in a neighborhood I like, but the apartment doesn’t sound that great - the other place looks really cool in the photos, but it will add about a half an hour to my commute.

My silly cat

Cats are funny.

Geesh, where have I been?

Happy Satyrsday all,

Had an interesting day yesterday, babysitting adults

FCM and anyone else interested, here in South Texas we can’t have basements as the water table is too high. So we either build on a concrete slab or pier and beam and the ground shifts because of changes in soil humidity(and other reasons). Slabs crack with enough movement and are usually retensioned with metal cables drilled through the slab. The house I was at yesterday is pier and beam(think of highway bridge piers only smaller with a house on top, actually the floor joists rest on the piers) with the drought we had last summer the ground moved quite a bit, so the East side had sunk a bit. First the leveling crew fixed the longitudinal axis on the center line(North/South), then they raised the East side about 3 inches and shimmed it, this is done with hydraulic jacks just like the ones you can get at the auto parts store or harbor freight/northern tools. They used a digital water level with the base on the centerline and a remote in various places in the house, literally the guy inside tells em up a little or down a little to the guys with the jacks. 5 guys did the whole house in about three and a half hours, pretty amazing.

Finally got my M/C parts and tools in but tied up til monday, probably will have pics going by then if you want to see the front end rebuilding process

thats all for now
have a great day all
Cheers

Well, that was a colossal waste of time.
Rental # 1 was a run down shack, with an unkempt yard, and a precarious looking wooden stoop and step.
Rental # 2 was as far away from the nearest blue space as something in that complex could get
Rental # 3 was TI-NY!!!
Blurf - the search continues.

Well, for once let me say:

Go Rangers!

[Johnny Cash]I posted in a MMP in Reno, just to watch it die[/Johnny Cash]

I’m home - YAY! And I’m exhausted. I’m going to sit with my sweetie and chill and I’ll catch up with youse guys tomorrow!

MWAH!***

Bambilance duty tonight. No action to report.

Well, I got a 14" tabletop grill because I really want to grill stuff. You know, healthy stuff. Unfortunately, my fire mastery skills appear to have atrophied. I suspect I just didn’t use enough charcoal. It just wasn’t hot enough to cook the steaks.

So, I put the steaks under the broiler. Mine was yummerific. Brother pronounced his “pretty good”, which is actually quite the compliment coming from him. He also asked me how I’d seasoned it. I told him I’d used every spice he possessed - garlic salt, pepper, dehydrated onion bits, and low sodium soy sauce. He was amused.

Obigatory dunken prost.

Rangers win Crapitals go golfing!

See ya’ll Montag
Paz Y Amor, tonights show was awful and have no better thoughts for tomorrow, please get me on tour
JIM

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a rainyish mornin’ here in ye olde hometowne and appears to be the same down at da cave. 'Tis 60 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 80 here and 84 at home. Plus rain. So I get to drive home in rain.

Yesterday was fun. My very large, loud family was all around and we had a good cookout. The rain held off and the temp cooperated to make it a very nice day to be outside. Mom insisted on making dessert, which always translates into desserts, so we had red velvet cake and buttermilk custard pies. YUM! Burgers, brats (the sausage kind), baked beans, slaw, N.O.T. sallit, buffalo wing mac & cheese, and chili dip made up the rest of the eats. Afterwards, I went down to sis’s and we sat up and talked until I could hardly keep my eyes open. All in all a good day. This mornin’ I shall accompany the newlyweds to church, have N.O.L. and then head back to da cave.

To all you mommies out there…

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!

Morning all. Up caffeinated, off to irk.
Happy Mother’s Day

It isn’t mother’s day 'round here.

I’ve been working round the clock to get three major projects that were due late-next week done early so I can be at my interview Monday and Tuesday. Plus prepare my interview talk. So I asked if Mother’s day can be next week instead.

Happy Mother’s Day to the rest of y’unz, though!

Sorry the apartments sucked, Rosie. I admit I haven’t been reading much- the buyers who seemed a bit interested before drop out, or is it still a possibility?
