Single Doper and Nerd Hookup Thread and Cotillion

Inspired by the rapidly growing trainwreck of a thread here and a number of “We need another personals thread”, I invite all of you to post your personal ads/“How you doin’?”/“Hey, baby, wanna wrestles?”

There’s no other board like the Dope for finding Wuv, Twue Wuv. Just look at all the marriage threads.

Just to get the ball rolling…

23 year old male from Atlanta, moving to scenic Durham, North Carolina, seeking no one in particular, because my girlfriend would kill me. I like video games, music, pie, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I dislike long walks on the beach and think romantic, moonlit nights should spent inside in the soft, blue glow of my ViewSonic monitor.

SM of indeterminate race (“Your last name is ___? You don’t look ____…”) seeks hot, limber female who doesn’t mind that I can barely grow a beard despite years of practice. My best attributes are the ability to piss people off without even trying, a fiercely competitive streak about anything that doesn’t matter, and almost total apathy to anything of real importance. My ideal partner enjoys sitting inertly in front of a CRT alternated with a total inability to hold still. No, wait, that’s me; my ideal partner can tolerate said behavior. If you think that dogs are reptiles, you are either totally unacceptable or a good match. If you’d like a partner who’s fascinated with many things without himself being fascinating in the least, I’m the man for you. Please no delusional psychotics; I don’t want my love life to get too repetitive.

Lusty Renfest/RPG wench here. Tall, pale-skinned, light-eyed, lipsticked gal with Norse/Celt roots looking for uh, ahem… no one (got me a hunky Aragorn look-a-like already) but I couldn’t pass up the chance to help out GMRyujin because… NERDS RULE! I dig fantasy and Sci-fi, I eat books (figuratively), I buy my hunny comics and massage his tootsies. He’s also my DM but I was sleeping with him before all that, honest!

Here’s a hearty, “YOU SUCK!” to the SHAKESman. Trainwreck, indeed.
Bring on the nerds…

Single white male, seeks a nerdy girl somewhere in Idaho. Hell, I’ll even go as far out as Seattle. Knowing the Konami code a plus, being able to tell a C shell from a seashell is better. Looks unimportant, but please be between 18-30. Photo available as soon as I get around to borrowing a digital camera. (Probably tomorrow.) Smoking/drinking OK. No Dutch Ovens, please.

SanguineSpider- tease.

OK- early 40s, swm, C’tian Republican Beatnik, into CSLewis-style C’nity, Nice-Right politics (more reading/discussing, not so much active), classic Horror film & lit, poetry readings, totally underemployed but comfortable, SE Indiana area, rather Jovian in appearance (OK, I’m a bearded fat guy L)

Yeah, My name is SHAKES and I’m a real American bad ass. I’m looking for…
Awe, who am I kidding? I’m too cool for you guys… C ya!

sorry, couldn’t help myself. I’ll go stand in the corner now,…

Yeah, you stay there, SHAKES. Don’t forget the dunce cap.

SWF, geek. Northeast Pennsylvania. Medium height, medium build. Age 23.8.

I like MST3k, Bruce Campbell movies (well, movies of all kinds, really), video games (My hand–eye coordination isn’t what it could be, but I follow the industry and I really like to watch other people play.), piracy (Yarrr!), comics, nerdcore music and online fanfiction.

Geek cred? I have an action figure collection, plane tickets to ComicCon and five seasons of Buffy on DVD. I have larped in the past and may do so again in the future. I believe Sisko was a better captain than Kirk or Picard.

Okay, I don’t sound like much when I lay it out like that, but I am a well of general geekery and sarcasm cleverly hidden by my recent-college-grad-with-a-desk-job costume.

SHAKES: It stays in the corner or else it gets the hose again.

Yes it will, precious, it will get the hose!

Hmm, I forgot to stay on topic in my previous post by mentioning my geekliness.

I’ve attended Comic-Con for the past five years running. Recently attended WonderCon, and there sold a single Magic card which paid for all expenses for the con with money left over. I used to own just about every Miyazaki movie on DVD. (It’s a long sad story why I don’t now) I’ve attempted to write and draw my own comics on multiple occasions. My nickname in elementary school was Spock. I’ve passed up sex to watch DS9. One of the larger folders in my file drawer is old RPG characters; I can’t throw them away because they’re way too cool. I’ve been designing a Call of Cthulhu campaign for over two years, even when there was no one who was ever going to play in it.

There, I have geek cred. Oh, and I’ve been calling myself a geek, as a positive label, since 1984.

And, Juniper200, The lines are down; bees are beginning to swarm. (Nice sig)

I would post, but you’d all call me a tease, since I’m not actually looking for anyone!

But hey, twenty something Indian descent astrophysicist. Interests include - practically anything!

Geekiness - I’m an astrophysicist! Nuff said, methinks!

I recommend you come over for UK dopes (As in Londope, or Brumdope, not as in ‘idiot’). People seem to hook up fairly regularly.

:stuck_out_tongue:   :stuck_out_tongue:

I just love that line. :: holds up two “10” scorecards ::

Yeah, this is quite true actually. Are there any single female UK Dopers left that have been to Dopefests? Or have they all been snatched up?

Good question.

There’s some nice men, though. Anyone else fancy going gay?

Just so long as you leave the nicest of them all alone. He’s mine. :stuck_out_tongue:

27 single male in Kansas City, Mo, ISO an intelligent woman. Must enjoy museums, the zoo, parks and theater. Good conversation a must. Wit and humor a plus.
Bonus points if invovled in martial arts, marathon, backpacking or some other form of extracurricular activity. A love of science fiction and or fantasy is a must, as is the basic burning desire to learn, and an uncontrollable curiousity of how the world works.

Ok…
SF, 30. Currently in Knoxville, TN, but since I’ve sent a number of resumes out all over the country, I could end up anywhere. Librarian with a bright, shiny brand new (4 day old) master’s degree. I like movies, Buffy, science fiction and fantasy. I fully admit that I weigh too much, but I just started walking with a friend each morning. And I’m a smoker, but money issues are going to require that that goes away soon.

What Junie neglects to mention is her stunning beauty. She’s gorgeous. Also, she will tell you she’s fat, but she’s NOT.

Carry on.

(I’d post but my geek husband (who I met through here) wouldn’t appreciate it)

Single Asian male, 29. Moving soon to Huntsville AL, having just obtained a Ph.D in astrophysics. Liberal, atheist. Avid bicycle rider with a preference for non-standard bicycles. Seeking an excuse to buy this tandem bike.

Hmm. Never tried one of these things before… taps the microphone Is this thing on?

SWM … 26, as of last Thursday. North-Central West Virginia. (About 90 minutes south of Pittsburgh, PA). Glasses. Will arrange for a picture sometime… I have one from a couple years back that’s still accurate, somewhere…

Seeks SGF. (Single Geek Female)

Geek Cred? Mwaha! Now I’m starting to roll.

14-year veteran of roleplaying games. 23-year veteran of comic books. Yes, you read that right. I could legitimately increase that number a little, but that’s about the amount of time I’ve been collecting them. I actually learned to read with comic books. I’d give rough statistics on the number of RPG books or comic books I have, but I don’t want to scare anybody.

Moving on … I’m a movie buff but not a film snob. My DVD collection is large enough that I’m starting to look for a house to keep it in. I like old stuff, new stuff, ‘B’ stuff, and any stuff when it comes to movies. My favorites are action-adventure types with good one-liners and screwball comedies. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite film. TV? I got your TV right here… longtime viewer of Buffy, Angel, various Star Treks, the Simpsons, South Park, SNL, Firefly, Futurama, Family Guy, the Tick … the list goes on, but my favorite show of all time is MST3K.

Video games? Yeah, I got video games. Love the video games.

Music … favorites are Weird Al, They Might Be Giants … but I like most music other than Country or Rap. (which they should just combine, and call Crap. I kid, I kid.)

Books? Scifi and Fantasy mostly, but I dig Sherlock Holmes and other mysteries, too.

Hm. Sarcastic, often silly. I also tend to pun somewhat often. Currently employed as a “computer programmer” … which means in reality that if something occurs within five feet of a computer, everybody thinks it’s my job.
