Me!
Well cough up the goods, No Disguise! Tell us about yourself. As they say, I may be cheap but I ain’t easy!
no Ohio guys, eh?

Hmmm, let me try if I may be so forward:
33 year old married guy living in the Atlanta area who will make a wonderful ex-husband someday. Besides computer gaming, I enjoy playing poker and driving with the top down in my 2004 Saab convertible. As you can tell by my handle, I dig 80’s new wave and pop (and industrial and goth and techno). I enjoy dark/bizarre comedy, ala South Park, Black Adder, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and though my skills are still well in progress, dig Dance Dance Revolution.
I am 6’2", 240 lbs (still working on getting to my dating weight), caucasian with tan/olive skin, black curly hair, and very brown eyes.
(Did I do this right?)
Grrr I wish I could edit my posts, I guess the answer to my previous question is ‘no’.
I grew up watching Dr. Who on PBS, collect and play German style board games (collection is at 100ish), and though I haven’t played D&D in a couple of years, have the 3rd edition books nearby as they make entertaining reading.
Oh, and I have an X-Box, Gamecube, PS2, Dreamcast, electronic darts, and a pinball machine (Star Trek:the Next Generation).
There, I think that’s it. May not make me a nerd, but it does make me look kinda’ sad, no?
Oh yeah, the nerd credentials. Let’s see… I like chess (even though my attention span is too short for me to be any good at it), I’m a lit/writing studies major, I know way too much of Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail by heart, I used to read the encyclopedia, and occasionally, the dictionary for fun, I’m better at a 7 year old computer game (Quake) than anyone has any business being, I dig nerdy chicks, and my favorite band is Iron Maiden. I’m sure there are many more nerdy things about me, but I’m leaving them out because by now, I’ve convinced myself they aren’t nerdy.
I was sort of in denial about being a geek for much of my adolescence, so I partook in many non-nerdy activities like skateboarding for 6-7 years, playing guitar, working out and stuff, but I always found time for books and online chess games. I was (and still am) socially akward though, so I wasn’t fooling too many people.
Oh, and I’m 22 next month, single, living in San Diego, and going to CSUSM. I won’t try to describe my physical self, but I’ve got pictures if anyone wants them.
Any takers? I know how much girls love socially akward guys. :rolleyes:
::sigh:: Well, I did have a whole post about how cool I am. I’ll try again…
DWM, 24, Tallahassee, FL, two dogs, 6’, 180lbs, reasonably athletic and reasonably handsome I suppose…
I’m an INTP by the Myers-Briggs test, tells you a lot about me
I’m quiet, like to read, watch movies, etc. I practice a handful of full contact martial arts, and will probably get back in the ring next year. I tend to be pretty understanding and stuff, easygoing, laid back, no visible temper, rarely argue.
Seeking gorgeous SWF, genius IQ, nymphomaniac… lol. Oh, and independantly wealthy…
Drat. YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS!
:: shakes old fist ::
I’d post info, being the huge nerd/geek that I am, but I’m 90% sure there are no doper wimmins in my area. (Hell, I think Eonwe might even be the only other VT doper…at least the only other one I can think of.) But I’m trying to get a job, and so I might be moving. To where? I don’t know.
But I would like to say one thing:
I was looking through here and saw ava’s pic, and I’m thinking “alright, a hottie!” And then for the next three or four pages, no one paid the slightest attention to her! And I was all thinking, “Hey, I’m gonna be the first guy to hit on ava”, but alas, I’m the fifth, or something.
Anyways, SWM, 21, 6’0", ~165 lbs.
I’m into: All things computers. I built my own last year, and one I get some funds, I’m going to build another. I recently just got into case modding. Now I want nothing more than to have the nicest looking PC. RPG’s are cool, I’ve mostly played D&D, but also a couple White Wolf and Palladium games (Rifts is the coolest RPG EVER!) B5 is one of my favorite shows, as is Buffy. My all time fav. show though is Futurama. All the little jokes they put in for geeks and nerds to appreciate makes it the best thing. I’m sort of an engineer, so that ups the geek potential. I say “sort of” because while I do have BS in biomedical engineering, I don’t have a job.
Your qualifications: Don’t be a man. Yeah, that’s about it.
I’ll post a pic if I can find one somewhere…but you don’t have to look at it…in fact, it’s probably best that you don’t.
hmmm… I’m 22, 23 next month, also living in San Diego and my best friend goes to CSUSM… I also know way to much about the Holy Grail (born into a family of movie quoters-that film being a favorite as ive grown up). So we definitly have some things in common. Lets see the pictures!
You’ve got no email address listed, so if you wouldn’t mind sending me an email, I’ll reply with a couple pictures.
Also, I see you’re a buyer in the skate/surf industry, you’re from the same general area of San Diego I am, and you have some friends who live basically down the street from me (I gathered that from your post in another thread). We probably know some of the same people, and we may even have met before. Anyway, I’d like to speak with you.
By the way, The Big Lebowski’s the best movie ever.
No descrimination here. Senior citizens are welcome too.
It couldn’t hurt, as long as it isn’t a bad pic:)
[sub]Let’s see if bouv remembers if I’m a boy or a girl.[/sub]
bouv will remember if they saw you on one of your many run thru this thread naked treks…
Vanilla, I could point you to several gatherings of 100 or more hard core nerds which will be taking place in Ohio during the next six months, but I don’t think you’d care for the mixture of religions which will be present any more than you care for me at the moment.
For the rest of you who are within driving distance of Ohio, send me an e-mail and I can pass on more information. I’ve been to several of these get-togethers, including one in Dayton last weekend, and they are a blast!
CJ
By the way, I should point out that the last two of these gatherings produced engagements and last weekend’s also marked the one year wedding anniversary of one couple. All six people met through this organization, and none of them are under 30. It’s a good group!

:: not within driving distance of Ohio (not without getting very wet in the process) ::
:: can’t drive anyway ::
:: sulks ::
- I ever said I didn’t care for you.
- I wonder what you guys mean by nerd?
If it has anything to do with sci-fi I am so not one.
I am i the old sense, sortof. - Ohio stinks.
Oh what the hell…
SWF, 33, 5’2", blonde hair & blue eyes, not really a geek currently, but there’s potential. I am interested in a lot of things, however, my expertise lies in the art, design, and creative realms. I’m more of a thoughtful/realistic type than a romantic/dreamer type.
Right now I’m not looking for a relationship, but I really want to meet (and flirt with) other people sharing similar views and interests…you never know how or when you’ll meet the “right” person. I’m relatively easy-going, honest, and kind, and certainly prefer those qualities in a s/o, among others. My sense of humor is more on the cerebral side, and the only sport I truly enjoy watching is hockey. I may come across as being quiet at first, but if my brain is picked the right way, I’ll open up. It’s difficult to describe myself (even in a nutshell) this way, so if you’re even the least bit interested in finding out more about me, check out my SDMB profile for my e-mail address or Yahoo username.
bittersweet, I don’t know if I could truly love a gack Tampa Bay fan. Sigh, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.
::sigh:: It just occured to me after reading through the thread that I already know who the dopers in NFla are. D’oh!
