So, Max–How you doin’? (Or have I just been whooshed? IIRC, we exchanged a few e-mails a while back, but you never responded to my last message. I assumed that you had decided not to keep in touch with me.)
When I said I wanted someone willing to discuss Life, the Universe, and Everything, I meant the subjects, not just the book. I’d be a little nuts to be basing a relationship on a single novel, don’t you think?
And I really, really recommend the Firesign Theatre. Have you simply never heard anything they’ve done, or do you truly not like their work?
Heck, I’d gladly skip some rerun for some fun out with someone cool. So far, all the S_F entries I’ve seen in this thread appear to meet that criteria.
And, in just the latest example of me being late to the game, MaxTheVool has already proposed to Scribble. And to think I was so close. Ah, well…
SpiralScratch–I know you’re out in the Bay area and that you’re not interested in Nerd Doper Chicks all the way out here in the midwest. But you do seem to have excellent taste in women. I find it hard to believe that the Bay area is devoid of cute femi-geeks.
Ecch–I’m not sure how I did this, but I hit “Submit Reply” before I was totally done typing.
That last sentence should say, “I find it hard to believe that the Bay area is devoid of cute femi-geeks who would be glad to go out with a nerd girl appreciator like you.”
Steve Wright, you know full well I’ve had a crush on you since I started hanging out on this board. Oh, why not?! It’s Pentecost after all, so I’ll risk the pun. If I were in your bit of the world this Pentecost Sunday, I’d be more than happy to see if we could come up with a new meaning for “tongues of fire” You’re my kind of geek!
One day, I will fit everything I want to say into a single post. I won’t finish a post, hit “submit reply,” and then think, “Ah, crap! I wanted to say [fill in the blank], too!”
Elmwood–Are you really only interested in women in Cleveland? I’m about 3 hours or so south and west of you, and you sound pretty cool.
Well, since this thread has been bumped, I might as well put myself out there. I’ll try not to kill this thread like I have done to other threads before, but I can make no promises.
SWF, age 19 in Texas. I’m 5’4", 140 lbs, with blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion and a good amount of freckles.
Nerd credentials: I am a total music and movie nerd, I read whenever I can, and though I try to act humble when I win at Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble, those are some of my proudest moments. Also, I was in the nerd dorm my freshman year of college (it was technically the honors dorm, but really it was the nerd dorm), I am working on my mechanical engineering degree, and I am looking forward to when I will have my Dreamweaver software to learn further and play with on my computer.
If there are still any interested nerd guys out there, I’ll post a longer profile, but right now I’ll just wrap up with a few basics- favorite movies: **Brazil ** (obviously), Head, and The Day the Earth Stood Still; favorite albums: **Achtung Baby ** by U2, **A Northern Soul ** by The Verve, and Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space by Spiritualized; and favorite books: Slaughterhouse-5 by Kurt Vonnegut, **The Trial ** by Franz Kafka, and **Me Talk Pretty One Day ** by David Sedaris.
I guess I am really more of a nerd-lite than a nerd compared to many people, but I have been known to develop crushes on nerdguys pretty easily, so anyone who is interested feel free to give me a howdy.
Bugs, eh? While not high on my favorites list I do watch the occasional program on Discovery about all things crawly. The fishies interest me a little more, though. I did do the scuba diving once in Cozumel and I would love to get my certification if I could find a partner (it gets lonesome underwater). Ooh, I have heard some Firesign albums, but I don’t own any of them. Weird stuff, but mesmerizing in a bad movie sorta way.
The only time I’m out around Ohio is for a car event (racing or show) but I could always make an exception for a DopeFest or other reason. Send me an e-mail whenever you want, I’ll be around.
Fishies are pretty cool, too. So are some other weird-ola things that live in the sea.
I’ve never scuba-ed, but I’d love to try it. What was it like?
So I take it you don’t like them? Not at all? Which albums (or CDs) have you heard? As with any long-standing group, some of the stuff they’ve put out is really wonderful, and other things they’ve done aren’t quite so good. Did you check out Give Me Immortality Or Give Me Death? If not, then I’d say you might want to consider at least checking them out before you decide that FT truly isn’t for you.
Yeah, they exist out here. It’s just a matter of finding someone cool who’s not already in a relationship. Unfortunately, there seems to be more guys like me here than there are women like you. Ah, well. I can be patient.
Besides, I like having a good time with anyone. Geography doesn’t mean so much over the Internet.
