Say there, av8r, do you happen to like sushi or sashimi?
Well, you had me at meat and beer ;). It would be a true pleasure to meet you at Friday’s sometime! Just let me know, either here or by e-mail, when it would be most convenient for you.
Sure thing.
I work in Wash PA every Monday through Thursday, and have Friday off, so I’m in the neighborhood a lot.
Perhaps in the next couple of weeks. I’ll definitely email you.
It’s like you’re reading my mind. Yeah, I’m a contractor type. Proprietary fun I’ve had includes OpenText’s Livelink’s OScript language (which wins an award for least documentation ever), and Gupta/Centura Team Developer.
Oracle. I work at an Oracle shop. thinking of trying MySQL for personal use though.
I see. The challenge is met, sir. Go prepare. When come back, bring pie wedges.
We shall get Don King to promote the event.

Let’s Get Ready to Reeeecallllll… useless facts and tidbits.
Nigiri, maki, or just plain sashimi?
'Cuz I like 'em all.
So I take it you know some good places in the general Baltimore vicinity?
I’m always looking for a good place to get my favorites (maguro and any variety of salmon) and try new ones too.
<dangerous grin>
So… a warmup…
Which of the following geopolitical entities did NOT change its flag after becoming independent of Britain?
British Honduras
British Columbia
British Guiana
British North America
I’m not posting nothin’ about myself until someone fesses up to being in the Dallas, Texas area. Give or take a hundred miles …
Oh, we’re not going to do this here. But I believe it’s British Columbia. Since they even retained the ‘British’ part of the name.
(I mean, what nation in it’s right mind would change it’s flag TO that?
)
You’re right. It would be too… discracting.
[hijack]
Hmmm BC is a nation? I better see is my Canadian passport is ok to travel there or if I need a visa too
[/hijack]
It’s a ‘geopolitical entity’.
I remember a professor (law and politics class) getting pissed off at the use of ‘nation’ because in his system of words it meant ‘a society that shares a culture’ rather than a ‘geographical area inside borders’.
He preferred the term ‘nation-state’ to describe the bordered area… so a ‘nation’ of people could have a flag and be a nation without being a country, I guess.
Well, heck, Quebec’s always five microns from becoming it’s own nation, is it any wonder I referred to BC as such?
If it’s a group of people with a shared history and culture, it’s a nation.
If it’s a group of people with a recongnised political system that can defend a shared patch of land, it’s a state.
There are lots of nations without states: Kurds, the First Nations of Canda, Esperanto speakers… likewise, there are plenty of states that encompass more than one nation. Canada comes to mind.
Draelin you’ve got the best personal here that I’ve yet seen. Too bad about the geographical distance, though. Ever been to Kevin Smith’s comic shop?
Back to the flirting!
Only one or two within walking distance from my apartment.
BTW, I’m in for the Central PA Dopefest, but that may change. I’ll post if something happens.
Thank you, thank you. Oh, and thanks for leaving me your DVD collection!
Oddly enough, I’ve never actually been to the Secret Stash. I’ve driven past it late at night, and the Quick Stop. I blame the Garden State Parkway and it’s nefarious tollbooths. And the fact that I know I would begin selling everything I own to buy some of those comics.
I plan to make a pilgrimage to the Secret Stash some year soon. If I’m feeling particularly saucy I’m going to arrange to have a Silent Bob costume and get a picture of myself standing in front of the Quick Stop.
