Single Dopers!

A Girl: you speak Japanese well? Great!

If you can put up with my (sometimes) lame questions, I’d love to practise with you. I took two years in college, but that was two years ago now, and I need to practise or lose it all.

I’ll be there (I told you on your thread that I would ;)).

Cabbage, you wonderful man you! I was having a blonde moment (again) and did not remember that. This is why I write everything I need to remember down.

Now if I could only remember to look at what I wrote.

Oh yeah Narile…We’re sKrewed(but not literally). The chances of a geek finding a girl in San Jo is a million to one(at least a girl you can take home to mom…and you can’t count her if you met her online).

Oh, and I just completed an Athlon 750 Win2K server
Oh, and my home theater components just arrived…

I’m 20 (ultress… son??), and live in Wisconsin. I like outdoors stuff - especially Penninsula State Park (site 844 baby!!). I also like indoors stuff - like, well…blush. I like just about anything. Except CATS!!! I HATE CATS!!!
Wow, I seem to be very extreme and opinionated. Cool.
If you must know more, just ask.

I’m 22, male, living in Houston now, but may soon move elsewhere, depending on the job situation.

I am most certainly a cat person, but don’t have anything against dogs.

I’ve been told I’m cute and/or handsome, and one of my best friends told me recently that she’s been very attracted to me since she met me. Unfortunately, she’s already got a boyfriend.

I think I have trouble meeting women because I don’t know how to start things off. Having said that, I like strong women, who aren’t afraid to take things into their own hands. Any of you beautiful ladies fit the bill? (megan, brooke? anyone?)

Shamelessly stealing ideas from UncleBeer:

[li]Occupation: Analysis Engineer. You know, the really geeky kind who uses a lot of math (including integral calculus) on the job[/li][li]Location: Gilbert, Arizona, USA[/li][li]Interests: Hiking, camping, music (listening and performing), trivia[/li][li]Marital Status: Single, never been married[/li][li]Date of Birth: 7/10/70 (less than 2 months to 30 and counting)[/li][li]Shoe size: 10½ (Although most women assume I wear size 16. Yyeeeeaaaaahhh.)[/li][li]Favorite food: Cheese[/li][li]Number of teeth: 28 (only 1 wisdom tooth ever developed and it never grew in)[/li][li]Height: 4’-24" (183 cm)[/li][li]Weight: 185 lb (83.8 kg[sub]f[/sub])[/li][li]Offspring: Good band. Er, I mean, no. I don’t have any kids[/li][li]Pets: 2 cats, Rudy and Casey. Please do not refer to them as “kitties” or I’ll barf. They are manly-man cats.[/li][/ul]

Now to steal from Diane:

[ul]
[li]Likes: Views from mountain tops, a cold beer after a long, strenous hike, chatting with friends around the campfire, finishing a work-out, doing choral performances with the Phoenix Symphony, getting a standing ovation after a choral performance with the Phoenix Symphony, music with lots of brass and/or voices (I have very egocentric tastes in music), sex (well duh!), having a girl run her fingers through my hair (if ever a girlfriend wants complete control over me…), arena football, my job, talking to friends to whom I haven’t spoken in a long time, being “Uncle Jeff” to my nephew, reading, Burgess, Salinger, Heller, Vonnegut, Mad Magazine, big-ass 4WD pick-up trucks[/li][li]Dislikes: Being a klutz (Conflicts with my hiking interest. I have scars to prove it), being absent-mined, dance music (by which I mean hip-hop, rap, and most pop), dance music clubs (I used to tolerate them, but now they give me a headache), weeds in my yard, being fined by the homeowners’ association for having weeds in my yard (They weren’t there yesterday! Honest!), phony people, this cold I’ve had for almost two weeks, crybabies, the air-conditioner setting at the Biltmore Plaza Coffee Plantation, finding my electric chords chewed up by the cat (add Bitter Apple to my list of likes), the psycho drivers around here (it’s gotten just horrible lately), seemingly endless road construction, low blood sugar[/li][/ul]

Single, Jewish, female Doper checking in…

Age: 38 (which I can barely still claim - yikes!)

Status: Never been married (for an explanation and a pic of me, see the busty redheads thread)

Children: No, but I want them. But only 2. Please don’t make me have more than 2. Ok, we can raise more than 2 - I wouldn’t mind foster parenting or adopting - but I don’t want to be birthing babies when I’m 50, thankyouverymuch.

Those are the general basics so that no 22 year old Catholic men apply. Outside of that, I absolutely abhor the idea of “selling” or “marketing” myself in these things. I’d rather just interact and get to know people than read through a list of someone’s likes and dislikes. I’ll know if you like sports, science, computer technology, or whatever, by seeing what topics you participate in here. Likewise, I’ll get to know your demeanor and general personality from seeing how you interact with other people. Are you polite, thoughtful, intelligent without being arrogant? Or are you quick to judge, harsh, or critical? Are you friendly and outgoiong or shy and reserved? These things are way more important for me to know about a person than what his favorite thing to do on a Sunday is.

I really don’t care if you like skiing, motorcycle riding, horses, tennis, golf, or writing haiku in your spare time. I mean, it’s nice to learn at some point and helps determine if people have common interests. But having common interests does not make a relationship work - trust, honesty, love and commitment do. My father did not play mah jongg and my mother did not like baseball. Yet they managed to find plenty of other things they had in common while still maintaining separate interests, and sustaining a loving, committed relationship for 30 years (until death did they part).

That’s what I want, and I won’t settle for less. Feel free to search here for topics I’ve participated in to get to know me. Or engage me in conversations in topics where you see me posting. I go in spurts as to where I spend my time. I’m often over my head in General Questions and I don’t much care for the fighting in Great Debates, but occasionally I’ll find myself in either of those forums and will hang around for a while. Otherwise, you’ll find me goofing off here in MPSIMS, where I come to not think and just have a good time.

I too live in the South Bay (I’ve been here for 7 years), and I have given up on the possibility of finding an available woman.

(And no, I’m not gonna type in my personal stats. Everything you could ever want to know about me is either in my profile, or on my personal website linked to in my profile. So there. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Well you Silicon Valley techs, get your asses out of there and head to the Silicon area of Colorado. I forget the Silcon name they have dubbed us, but from Ft. Collins down to Colorado Springs there are high tech jobs awaiting people all over the place.

Denver has it’s fair share of women, and even though I am woman, a lot of those women are very stylish and not a bunch of country bumpkins.

Cisco has a plant in Louisville or Longmont, Intel is opening up a facility in C Springs. There are communications companies all over the Denver area…in fact I think it has the largest amount of comm companies in the US.

There’s Compaq, HP, TI etc around here…among a lot of other companies.

You may not make as much money here but you don’t have the same expenses of the Silicon Valley area so it all pans out.

BTW, I am not soliciting these Silicon techs to move here for a date as I prefer men who work in the construction industry or automotive industry…yeah I am weird but I have dated a few computer oriented men and I get sick of talking shop all the time.

< techchick likes construction and cars >

OK…I suppose I should check in here. I haven’t noticed anyone else in Kansas.
I’m female, 43 yrs. old. Divorced after being married for 24 yrs. I have 3 grown children; son (26) married, no children; daughter (24) married, two daughters (my only grandchildren); son (21) not married.
I live in Ks…small town in the North Central area. Nothing much here…rural, farming community of about 3,000 people.
I manage a Dairy Queen…nothing technical about that. I work with a lot of teenagers (mostly I work the night shift, it’s hard to find adults who want to work nights) I love working with the kids…keeps me young and we have a lot of fun.
I have a dog, Pete…who saves my sanity by listening to me when no one else will. I have yet to tell him he’s a dog. I’m taking care of my daughter’s dog as well, since she lives in Kansas City and can’t find a place to rent that will accept a dog.
I have lots of friends; a couple of occasional lovers, but, no special someone, yet. I’m considering moving to a bigger metropolitan area (like Kansas City), because I think my chances of meeting someone would be greatly improved and I could see my granddaughters more often.
Anyone know anyone in Kansas that would like to meet a wonderful, smart, funny, young lady? (That would be me.)

I’m gong to borrow a page from techchick and tell you tech guys to check Dallas out. Dallas companies are begging for programmers and prices are a lot better (especially if you are willing to commute from the Fort Worth suburbs - which I do and I spend about 35 minutes on the road). And, unlike techchick, I like programmer types!

Blimey! I’m amazed at some of the really cool people here who are unattatched.

Ultress never!
Singledad no!

Okay…sign me up for the singles group. I’m from Ohio, 43, female.

Anyway…

I’m 16, never had a girlfriend. At home I was fat. Here at school, walking everywhere and terrible food has slimmed me down considerably, but I find I’m not willing to learn to play the high school games.

Y’know how that goes, right? First we’re talking, then we’re talking, then we’re “going out” (but not actually going anywhere).

Too much for me to deal with with everything else.

I tried overthrowing the system and just asking a girl out on a date, but fate strung me along then bitchslapped me with that one. There was a girl flirting with me at Target last night, but my mom was around.

Sigh.

Okayie, I’ll ignore the policeman in my head that’s saying “’Scuse me, Sah what do you think you’re doin’” and just go with the flow. Somehow it’s easier after a bottle of Chilean red.
Posting on the basis that I am single and, though I’m not looking at the moment, thought I’d take the opportunity to introduce myself. So, 6’ aged 39, ducked out of a number of promising relationships, regretting a couple, no idea of weight…perhaps 200-210, reasonably fit, did a lot of studying and travelling a while ago, interested in everything. Location – have a wild stab in the dark.
‘Not looking’ because I stopped work last week to learn more HTML, CSS, Photoshop and, may God help me, maybe a little Javascript. Very preoccupied with web site building and search engine optimisation/promotion and need to improve my skill levels. Wo-man later in the summer would be nice. Hello everyone.
There, that wasn’t too harrowing (cough)

Well, she’s a cute 29 year old red-head who teaches and studies history. However, perhaps more relevant to your concerns, her husband is a cute 28 year old who teaches science and is in grad school as well. Sorry.

So I’ll just have to be platonic then :::shucks:::
