I have to agree with rigs on this one. You need to have a heart-to-heart with QD and splain to her that THIS IS SERIOUS. She’s not a kid and not stupid so there’s no excuse for bad behavior.
Hey donkeybear :: waves ::
I had no idea that Bears had a flag until the other day when I was looking for knitting patterns.
I want those! Of course, I have no night life, so a smokey eye in daylight would make me just the skankiest of ‘hos. Nothin’ more pathetic than a perky blonde on the skids.
Since I am late to the party, could you explain one thing to me? I get that Mr. Lisslar is your husband, but what is the relationship to QD? Daughter?
Sorry, I’ve been reading but can’t seem to get the dynamics right.
Taters - beautiful pics. I’ve never been to the PNW but it looks lovely!
We’re workin’ on a national anthem also.
[Eddie Izzard] “Do you have a flag?” [/EI]
In QD’s defense, she doesn’t do these things to be mean or spiteful. It’s all done with the very best of intentions (she’s also a neat/organization freak to a level that borders on OCD).
Any chance of switching up the socializing with QD to be outside the house, LiLi? If she can’t see the mess, she won’t be tempted to clean it up and put your stuff away where you can’t find it. It probably won’t help with the whole not-listening-when-the-Mr-talks issues, but that’s something that they, as adults who both care very much about you, should be able to sort out on their own for your sake.
Or you could just shove a grey sock in QD’s mouth if she doesn’t shut up when asked to That might help.
Shelli, QD is short for Quasi Daughter. She’s long-time friend of LiLi’s.
Hey, it’s donkeybear! Welcome back! Glad you’re all in one piece n’ stuff.
…and on that note, I’m heading home. It’s 5pm, and I’m leaving on time for once. W00T!
Hey!
I’m back!
And it’s past midnight and I’m going back to work tomorrow, so bedtime for me.
Pictures will be forthcoming in a few days, once we get everything back under control and upload them…
TTY’all tomorrow…
Welcome home, you!
Hi Noonie!
Kalhoun, they’re called In A Wink Instant Eyeshadow Sheets. They’re on page 18 of the Campaign 18 Avon catalog.
donkeybear, you’re having way too much fun. Welcome back!
Welcome home, Lunch!
We are still without email, with no ETA. They are working with the developers to get it resolved. That doesn’t sound very promising.
Is it me or are there more political shootings this year? Link to latest shooting.
Thanks! Here’s the link: http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.asp?src_page=product_list.asp&level1_id=300&level2_id=301&pdept_id=312&dept_id=&pf_id=34137
They look interesting!! And maybe even good!
 who has so little time to get ready to go somewhere that they can’t be bothered to swipe an applicator across a palette? Sheesh!
Wait till she starts referring to all of her husbands!
I have done almost nothing for the last 2 hours at work. Things are running excruciatingly slowly. There is nothing worse at work than needing to get something done and having it Just. Not. Work. ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Li-Li - One can only hope that if and when QD ever marries DH, then she’ll have someone else to [del]annoy[/del] bounce ideas off of, and Mr Lisslar will be reprieved
Back from the University, picking up treats, depositing a check, returning movies, and taking the daughter out to practice driving.
I guess I’ll have to get chop-chop going soon. Tonight’s dinner will be grilled ribeye steaks and some salad. I’m not really hungry, but I gather the hubby is because he asked me when I was going to start cooking dinner.
It’s pretty darn warm out there and I’m not overly thrilled about standing in the sun grilling.
My daughter received a letter from one of her other friends at Marine boot camp. That makes two; one from one of her best friends and now this one. They’re both returning in October for some leave and want to hang out with her. I hope she’ll get the chance to. Between her job and school, her time will be limited.
Okay, that eye shadow thing is just…weird. Not everybody has the same shape for a lid, so I don’t see how that could possibly work without a lot of futzing around. I’ll stick to a brush thanks.
Well, I was watching Youtube videos on how to do a good smokey eye (yes, I’m just that pathetic) and the process is really quite involved. Plus, I’m a fair-skinned blonde, so you have to be oh-so-careful not to teeter over the edge into Darryl-Hannah-in-Blade-Runner-territory …so I’m thinking these little press-on things, and then blend a bit…might be just the ticket for a quick application.
Or maybe I’m over-thinkin’ it.
Dia duit, Mumpers, here it is Wednesday, the only chance I have to relax and read through.
Happy belated birthday to Dotty!
I don’t think I’ve met any Mumpers in person, though I have met a handful of Seattle Dopers at a couple of trivia nights: **Cervaise, picunurse, Saltire, stargazer, E. Thorpe, Interrobang?!, ** and others who I will recognise when I see their usernames but can’t remember off the top of my head.
I’m making a jambalaya for supper tonight, and the sausage smells gooooooood right now.
I bought some fun yarn that I can’t wait to start knitting squares out of. I can only knit in squares and rectangles. :o But I love to do it. I will knit some squares and then sew them together with my tapestry needles and maybe I’ll have a not-too-bad-looking quilt of some sort. Light greens, light purples, and whites shot through with silver. I think it will look quite nice. I hope. I make a mean scarf, but this is the biggest project I’ve undertook. Well, except a failed gigantic crochet blanket I started the first year we were married. I think it’s still in my wicker pig.
My wicker pig. That’s where I keep all my yarn and needles. Doesn’t everyone?
I made up some lotion batches the other day, and yesterday while I was at work, got a request from my old store for a transfer. There was no hurry to get the product, so I decided I’d take it to them myself today, since I just live a few minutes away and needed to run errands anyway. I took some lotion in to give to all my old fellow co-workers as little gifts. I was a little worried about giving it to the boys - I mean, lotion, kind of girly, all pastel colours, right? But whatever, they always liked trying my soap, now it’s lotion time. I chose scents that I knew each individual would like: pink for the one girl who works there - pomegranate apple scent. Blue agave for my old manager, who loved the soap with the same scent. Citrus for the previous driver/recently promoted to Sales II. And aloe, with real aloe, for the guy who always used to suggest I make soap with aloe, “you know, 'cos it’s so good for you, and we work so hard here, and I bet it would feel really good, you know?” I was worried most about him, because he’s a little bit on the “macho” man side. I didn’t want to insult his very manliness, you know, by offering pretty green lotion. Maybe I should have made it darker, I thought, or maybe less scented, or… something.
I cautiously offered him the pastel green aloe lotion. He took it, looked at it, looked at me, and I said, meekly, “It’s got aloe in it, you know, like… real aloe. A lot of it.” He put the bottle down and he hugged me! “Thanks, Stasia, that’s really cool!” I suddenly just felt really good. When I had come in, he looked and sounded really, really tired, and kind of gruff. Then all of a sudden he sounded very cheerful, and was smiling, and yelling to our old manager, “Hey, Hugs [nickname], Stasia’s here and she brought us LOTION!”
Well, jeez. :o
I’m not sure exactly why, but it just made my day. He did, however, ask me if he could use it on his nether regions. I told him sure, but it would make him very soft.
Oh, yay, my bubby is home now, and we’re going to go for a walk around the neighbourhood. The sausage is about done, so I’ll set that aside and put everything together when we get back home. YUM!
ETA: you know why I love the MMP? I can get away with more smilies.
So, I’m reading what I missed and I came across BioRosie’s post:
and I read alligator instead of applicator and went  Dang! That eyeshadow must be tough to put on!
Well, it amused me!
Taters what? No Those Friggin’ Good N.O.T.?
Oh, and I did get through the work pile of MUMBLEMUMBLEMUMBLE finally.
So Stasia, what kind of scented lotions do you make? I like smelling pretty.
Likewise, what kind of soaps do you make?
Didn’t you go to the Swampfest a few years ago? I know I met **stargazer, ** Cervaise, picunurse and her harem, and several other Seattle area dopers there.
ETA: Nope, no Friggin’ Good Potatoes today. It’s awfully warm out. Frankly, I’d be happy just eating a cold sammich or something, but that wouldn’t fly with the daughter or husband.
