Six Degrees of Mumpers – a connectivity MMP

Oh my.

When I got home I saw a seal-point Siamese in the trees behind my house. So I started walking towards said cat to say hello. When he spotted me he came trotting over, butted his head against my legs, purred, and all of that “Hello, you are an appropriate human, you may worship me” stuff. Then he hopped on my car and demanded more attention.

After a couple of minutes I grabbed my defrosting groceries and headed for the house, with the cat on my car. I opened the door, stepped in…and nearly stepped on the cat, who followed me right inside. He’s thin, but he’s not really skinny. He’s got to be lost. When I ran back to the car for something he got past me but then when I came back in, he followed me. Again.

Unfortunately, he got out again just a minute ago and it’s so dark I have no idea where he went. :frowning: I wonder if he’ll be around in the morning? If he is, I’m taking him to the shelter, I guess. This cat has to have people somewhere. He’s thin but he’s not skinny, so if he’s lost, he hasn’t been lost for long. And I do not understand people here who let their cats run around outside; there are various critters that will eat them and the main highway in and out of the area is not too far from my front door.

I got a picture of him but I can’t get into my Photobucket account for some reason to upload it. I didn’t change my password, you morons.

Morning, everyone. Nat has decided that 4:20 is morning, but he’s unhappy about it. Me, too.

Oh, well. Today- grocery shopping and some cleaning, and then QD’s coming over after work.

I feel extremely yucky today. :frowning:

snowbunny, you’ve been adopted!

A rare serious note. Whenever the VunderDogs get too rowdy, they each get a lump of cream cheese containing benadryl and melatonin. The first to knock them out, the second to keep them out.

Your regularly scheduled inanity will resume in a moment.

{{{CutiePie}}} here’s hopin’ the yuckiness goes away.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I’m about to get busy and finish up some stuff for work. Then I’ll take it in, hang around for a bit to get stuff done there and bring a load of stuff home for the rest of today and tomorrow.

It’s sorta rainy out. Right now it’s just a light drizzle but it’s supposed to be rain and tstorms comin’ in later this mornin’ and hangin’ on through tomorrow. I hope so.

Hugs, yays, boos, congrats, appendage crossin’s and trout slaps. Distribute as needed.

Ok, now for work time!

Later Y’all!

ETA: BBBobbio has given us another prime example of how cream cheese goes with anything.

Aww, sorry you feel yucky, Pie.

Hope the kitty comes back, snowbunny.

Yeah…4:20 is just a bit early for morning, LiLi.

Gotta finish making lunch and having breakfast, then it’s off to work! I’m taking the week after next off. Yay!!!

GT

And your point is…?

Snowbunny: We used to have a seal point Siamese cat. I swear that thing lived 22 years just to spite me.

Morning. Caffeine. Work.

snowbunny was it Siamese if you please or don’t please?

I guess it doesn’t matter either way.

(Wow, I didn’t remember what a racial stereotype that animation was. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Lady & the Tramp. Ah, the 1950s. You just didn’t care, did you?)

Mornin’ all. It’s a rainy Tuesday here…In fact, it’s a rainy month all together. Out of the 11 days of August, it’s rained for 8 of them. Ugh.

((Rosie)))

I second the Melatonin for Nat. Just kidding. Kinda.

I need something to wake up…or more sleep.

Racist, quite possibly, but Siamese kitties certainly have Attitude.

I can’t just keep him; if he shows up again, I’ve got to take him to the shelter. If nobody picks him up, then I would keep him, but I can’t just grab a kitty who looks like he’s got to have people somewhere. I admit my first thought was that I’d been picked.

Every other cat I’ve seen around here outside took off like a rocket if I tried to be friendly. Not this guy.

Howdy yourself! You must have misunderstood. They told you to stay in Columbus because you would find a place to eat. Period. But hey, we’ve still got the McD’s…

Mornin’, all.

Nuthin’ much - just checking in.

I am not an animal person. At all. I have a severely violent internal reaction to caring for one more thing I will have to clean up poop after and pick up hair.

However, I do love Siamese cats. It does sound like he has a family and I am sure they are missing him.

LiLi - that sucks for you. How old is the little one? My youngest is 3 now and not long ago I had one night that kept me up all night and I realized I had forgotten just how tired new parents are. It truly is a test of will. But it does get better. You just have to think long term - like, I bet this will be better in six months, not six minutes.

Well, I’m going to watch more Olympic coverage. I gotta get me one of those spandex men’s gymnastic outfits just to wear to the grocery.

It is indeed rainy as all get-out in this area. I’m really ok with the rain, it’s the constant stifling humidity that’s getting to me. A 0.25 mile walk to the train in the morning should not leave one sweaty. Eeew.

The rain was so loud on the roof last night it woke me and Mr. Elysium up. That’s enough, rain! We get it.

Yay for fckid! I think she will be a terrific teacher.

snowbunny, have you checked with neighbors to see if anyone owns the kitteh? Is it possible that he/she was a dropoff? Is it a traditional Siamese or one of the new streamlined ones?

li-li, could it be the lighting in the bedroom where Nat’s going to bed? Have you tried varying degrees of light? Just a thought.

Last night was Adult Beanie Weenie for din-din. I use store-bought baked beans, turkey smoked sausage and dollops of molasses, brown sugar, onion flakes, mustard, ketchup, parmesan cheese and this time I used sallit croutons instead of breadcrumbs. I slice the sausage and mix all the other ingredients in with them and the beans and top with the croutons and sprinkle with the cheese. Then I bake it for 45 minutes, half covered, half uncovered. It’s an easy rib-sticking casserole.

Nothing much else going on.

Tupug

He was somewhere in between the traditional and streamlined, as you put it. Gorgeous kitty. I hope he went home last night, or that if he didn’t he shows up again so I can get him to the shelter so his people can maybe find him. (And if they don’t, well, I have been wanting a kitty! But there are lots of kitties needing people, so if this guy wasn’t one of them, I know there’s somebody out there.)

yawn I stayed up too late last night watching the gymnastics.

{{LiLi}} Just remember how much difficulty he gave you about sleeping when he’s a cranky mopey teenager and refuses to get out of bed before 2pm on weekends.

taxi, thanks for the suggestion! Our wax beans were a little too tough and stringy to be eaten raw, but the whole prosciutto idea sounded downright yummy so I opted to saute them with some chopped prosciutto, minced garlic and pine nuts.

gt, I’m really hoping it’s just a phase. I’m not really ready to go through the interview roller-coaster, and besides, it could be hard to explain my qualifications because even though I’ve got 18 months of solid experience, I’ve only had an official title for 6 weeks.

In other news, the advice re: parents is unanimous on all fronts. So, Thanksgiving with Mom it shall be, with visit to see Dad at some other point to celebrate his wedding. I feel somewhat bad, but I don’t want to leave my mother alone on the holidays. My dad, on the other hand, will have plenty of people to keep him company - aside from his wife, he’s also quite close to his wife-to-be’s kids and grandkids.

Holy crap. I’m going to have step-siblings.

I’m not sure how I feel about that.

I’m feeling kinda yucky today too, Pie. Since I was grumpy yesterday, we went out to grab dindin and something seemed to disagree with me. I woke up in the middle of the night with an awful tummy ache. I didn’t get sick, but I didn’t feel good at all for a long time. The tummy’s feeling better now, but I’m tired and still grumpy. And there’s a clusterf*** at work that’s mostly my fault, and I’m feeling really bad about it. I so much wanted to call in sick today, but I really need to straighten out my own mess. Bleh.

Hope you can find out who the kitty belongs to snowbunny.

Apparently, we’ve had rain here too on 7 of the 11 days so far this month… and yet it all adds up to less than 1/4" so we still desperately need rain. More bleh.
