Yes, luckily I work from home. A quick leap over the sleeping cats and I’m at work. I was a little slow to get going. Today was Boniva Day and I had to wait an hour after taking the pill before I could scarf down a cup o’ Joe. That’s just wrong.
No no - you are not supposed to look around wildly. You are supposed to lower your chin, suck in your lips, widen your eyes and arch your back or turn and dip one shoulder. Then you will have the perfect cell phone/myspace photo. And you can claim it was completely unintentional.
Morning dear Mumpers. A glorious day here- we’ve had the air conditioning off and teh air is fresh, sweet and cool.
Little girl is having a passel of friends over. She wants to start a fifth grade book club, so today is their organizational meeting. She’s mixing kids from her old school and her new school, which I think was very nice.
They are coming this afternoon for, I suspect, 12 minutes of planning and 78 minutes of playing!
Ugh. Must clean up camping gear.
LiLi- yeah for Nat sleeping improvements!!!
awwww GT- you should have come camping with us!!!
Shucks, y’all shoulda come- we had plently of s’mores and pie iron pies for everyone!!
gt, I like your photos better, but I have a decided preference toward cool colors. Too much red angries up the blood.
Looks like I’m going to have to pay my own tuition this year. I had money saved up once. Oh well, that’s what saving is for. The completely fucking unexpected.
I always wondered why so many pics online looked the same-same pose! :smack:
I am making manicotti later (for Daughter’s big Family Dinner), planting ONE bed (more tomorrow), and getting school supplies this morning. It’s a good thing I’m on “vacation”. I need to find ONE nice thing to do for myself else I go back to work an embittered and cold-hearted drone. Oh, wait…
LiLi, I’m sure that Mr Lissar and QD will make up soon enough. They can both be way too stubborn and opinionated for their own good, but would you really want it any other way?
Pretty garden pix, Kalhoun. I love that yellow daisy that shades into purple in the middle, and your SIL has some gorgeous day lilies (I’d give my left arm for that hot pink one… swooooon).
Soapy, your trip sounds like it was much fun. I love just about everything about camping… waking up early to the sounds of the forest, snuggling in sleeping bags, eating stuff cooked over the campfire (especially hot dogs… nom nom nom), dressing up like a bum.
We’re going for a three-day camping trip on Labour Day weekend, and I can’t wait! Yay!
Thanks! Yeah…the bee thing was a little freaky. I’m not a fan of Creatures With Pointy Butts, but my SIL persuaded me to snap that one before screaming and fleeing into the woods. Pretty tense…
ReboSon came over last night to mooch dinner! We had Parmesan Crusted Tilapia, cheesy steamed broccoli, and Rice-a-Roni. Yum!
I don’t think that one is in the Mumper’s Recipes file.
Parmesan Crusted Tilapia
Tilapia filets - Enough to cover the bottom of a 13x9 casserole dish. (They come in different sizes!) Overlap the fat sides over the thin sides, to try to make it an even thickness. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
1 c fresh bread crumbs (2 slices white bread)
1/2 c grated parmesan
1 tbs chopped frsh parsley
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tbs olive oil
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Pulse the topping ingredients in a food processor. Spread the bread crumbs evenly over the fish. Bake at 400° for about 15-30 minutes, depending on thickness of filets, until fish flakes easily with a fork.
That little African Daisy is one of my favorites. I just grin from ear to ear when I look at it. It has been a prolific bloomer for me (unlike my MIL’s, who has one stinkin’ flower on hers). The hot pink one…well all I can say is fuck the SIL and her fucking perfect fucking garden that never has bugs or trauma or lack of perfection. She’s got a sea of those beauties – each one prettier than the last.
Back away from the sectors, Kalhoun! Your flowers and pics are on par with your SIL’s, if not better. I especially like the one with the berries. Yowza color is not always good–there should be some subtlety to a garden, IMO.
If she’s got manure, she’s got bugs. She’s probably not telling you her garden woes, but she’s got 'em. I guarantee you.
So I’m all alone in my love for the bee? Poor bee! No love for her.
I feel sorry for the trash guys. See, today is trash day and they have to pick up trash in pourin’ down rain. Feelin’ sorry for them makes up for the fact that I got my socks and shoes all wet goin’ down to the street to drag the trash can back up to da cave.
Also… MUMBLEMUMBLEMUMBLE back to work!
ETA: rigs you should so set up an appointment for a pedicure/manicure or sump’n like that as a be nice to yourself thing. Beats the heck out of bein’ washed by Taters.
Morning, all. Damn, I wish I could shake this thing. Both Papa Tigs and I are in the one step forward, two steps backward stage of recovery. I ended up going to bed midafternoon Monday and staying there till I had to get up to take care of the dogs Tuesday. I had about 25% of my normal energy yesterday. And today I have even less, plus both yesterday and today I’ve had a killer headache that doesn’t seem to be helped by much of anything.
And to make my miserable life complete, I’ve got my favorite job to work on – except the normal reporter who handles it had the nerve to be on vacation, so sent someone else who he theoretically trained, but this woman is so dumb she couldn’t find her ass with both hands, so she neglected to do the most basic of tasks for this job, i.e. get a decent recording by plugging into their sound system. I just love it when ten people are talking and they sound like they’re at the bottom of a cave, and nearly inaudible at that. And I have two days of this shit. And it’s already three days late, and getting later. And I’m having a really, really hard time giving a shit.
Anyway, I just scanned through the thread. YAY! for Perfect Daughter’s new job! Purty flowers, Kalhoun! Sorry for Nat’s continued sleep problems, but yeah, in 10 or 12 years you’ll wish he was awake once in a while. I’m looking forward to some more Crazy Parent stories this year, MBG. And hugs, yays, and boos to everyone else as appropriate.
I haven’t even gotten my photos off my camera, gt, but I did discover that a guy who’d been near us at the pow-wow had a really good video camera and took a bunch of terrific videos that are available on YouTube in high quality, so I’ll post some links later. The videos capture things far better than my still photos do since it was mostly movement and color and fringe swirling and jingle dresses jingling and all those things that are hard to capture with still photos.
Anyway, I’m just popping in before returning to my normally favorite/now nightmare job and continuing to aggravate my headache. I sure hope that by next week both Papa Tigs and I feel more human; as it is, we’re both just going through the motions. And this even after Serious Antibiotics to take out the infections both of us had. It’s all his fault; he brought these germs home!
I’m up, drinking my coffee, and contemplating getting moving on the day’s activities.
Nice pictures, Kalhoun. I once had a pretty garden, not so much now. I’m hoping that next year I can get a nice garden going again. I’ve been so busy, that I’ve just neglected it this year. In fact, I didn’t even plant anything this year. It’s too late to get anything major started now, so it’ll have to wait.
I’ll have you know Swampy, that when I wash the rig, I use WARM soapy water and the softest washing mitt. It’s all handwashing baby, no scrub brush.
MT, I’m sorry you and the hubby are still feeling so poorly. I sure hope you get better soon. That’s one of the things that sucks about working at a hospital; there are lots of germs to pick up from the sick patients visiting it.
Bleh, I reallty wish I didn’t have to go anywhere today, but I need to return rental movies, take the daughter down to UW-T, deposit a check, and take care of a couple of other things.
My daughter also wants to find someplace where she can practice driving. So, that’ll take some time too.
The weather here is nice again. Not too hot, not too cool.
That’s part of what’s so aggravating – most of the patients at his hospital aren’t sick, they’re injured. Nothing contagious there. I don’t know how he got this one, but usually I’m able to avoid cold/bronchitis type germs; in fact, when I got sick, I realized it had been four years since I’d succumbed. I only hope, after this one, it’s more than four years before I get another!
