If it’s warm enough, or too damn hot, I sleep in a pair of panties. I don’t sleep nekkid any more. I’ve done it enough times to know that it just isn’t as comfortable as wearing a pair of panties.
If I’m a bit chilly, I’ll put on a pair of knit pants. If I’m still chilly, a long knit nightie, either nylon or cotton. Still chilly? I wear a fleece nightie. I’ll usually wear the pants under the nighties, because my legs and feet get colder than my torso does. If I get too warm, the nightie comes off. The knit nighties are short sleeved, while the fleece nighties are long sleeved.
I’m a big, big fan of heating pads and/or hot water bottles during the winter, at the foot area. Especially if I remember to put them in the bed about half an hour before I go to bed. There’s nothing like climbing into bed and having a nice warm spot for my frozen feet.
I sleep on a king sized bed. My husband bought the thing, and then found out that it’s way too hard for him. He sleeps in another room, with up to four cats at a time, on a very soft queen sized bed. I can’t sleep on a soft bed at all, and because I have asthma and allergies, I’m not supposed to have cats at all, but I’ve compromised, and I just don’t let the cats sleep in my room. Since the bed is so huge, though…I’ve fallen into the bad habit of keeping a lot of books on the unused 2/3 of the bed. This means that once a week, I have to shuffle the books off the bed, change the sheets, and then sort through the books to figure out which go back on the bed, which go into the sellback pile, and which go on the shelves. I have half a dozen pillows on my bed.
I need some ambient noise (I use a radio) and some light, which is provided by leaving the bathroom light on and mostly closing the door. These requirements are another reason why Bill and I don’t sleep in the same room any more. He needs total darkness and silence.
I’m a segmented sleeper. This means that I sleep for a couple of hours, then I have to get up, usually because I hurt too much to sleep any more. I’ll be up for a few hours, then I’ll go back to sleep.
