Dr. G: polar fleece + nakedness = deliciousness. Does the cat sleep inside or outside the covers?
Generally just underwear. Sometimes nothing. Very very occasionally pjs. If I’m not at home I wear pjs because I’m used to sleeping on flannel or jersey cotton and have a hard time sleeping on anything else.
Quirks? I don’t ‘make’ my bed and I don’t use fitted sheets. Two flat sheets, the bottom one tucked in all around. The other sheet and blankets are just laid on top. Sometimes I cuddle with my remaining stuffed animal. Sometimes I let the cats in but not often and they usually choose to sleep elsewhere.
Nekkid. The Ms wears jammy bottoms and a t-shirt.
He gets under the covers more when I’m not in bed, when I’m there he usually makes a nest out of whatever I’ve kicked off at the foot of the bed. Makes it rough when I get cold and have to retrieve the covers and have to move his large butt out of the way. But then the covers are warm…
I’m surprised no one has tried to make sleeping naked in polar fleece illegal…
Mr. Horseshoe and I both sleep starkers, always. I use earplugs - if he’s not snoring, the early-morning birds will wake me - and I keep a water bottle and a baggie of Cheerios by the bed, as I often wake up too hungry/thirsty to fall back asleep. If I can’t sleep and move out to the couch, they both go with me to the coffee table.
One of our cats insists on curling up by the feet of any human who’s lying down, so she usually hops onto the foot of the mattress at some point in the night. Makes a good hot-water bottle, as she seems immune to being kicked.
I used to need it quiet but have gotten better at sleeping through either white noise or soft music, something that was unheard-of for me years ago. Still need it dark, though. Very dark. I’m a side sleeper who occasionally moonlights as a tummy sleeper but I canNOT sleep on my back.
When it’s warm, loose gym shorts and a t-shirt.
When it’s cold, sweats.
I do not own anything that could reasonably be call ‘pajamas’.
Me and my main squeeze sleep nekkid. Only one of the three cats wants to sleep with the people, but when she settles in, she will NOT move over If I have to turn over, I pick her up and set her outside the bed.
Oh, and we both snore… I have a harder time sleeping when I am alone.
Is it just me, or do Dopers have more insomnia than the general population?
if the sheets are brand spankin’ clean, and it’s summer, i’ll sleep in the nude.
both my exes were my own private heating source, so no jammies was pretty commonplace no matter what the season. i’d have melted into a puddle of goo otherwise. the divemaster and his wolf pack kept our king-size bed toasty as did his successor with no pets.
these days i’m home alone in a king-size bed, so i usually opt for a tank and lightweight pj bottoms in summer and leggings with a long-sleeved thick cotton sleep shirt in the winter.
i’m one of those who has to have something over my legs otherwise i can’t sleep. even in the dead of summer i need some kind of weight against my legs. i’d guess a psychiatrist would have a field day with that one.
i generally prefer dark and quiet to go to sleep in. on occasion when sleeplessness strikes i turn on the tv in the tv room just loud enough to be background noise. usually works like a charm.
as for pets, only one of the superkitties sleeps on the bed. maggie is the size of a large soup can, but somehow the tiny terror completely takes over the bed. i wake up in the strangest, really uncomfortable, twisted positions and brat cat is always gorked out, right smack up against the backs of my legs.
turk is not allowed up on the bed – territorial issues i suspect – but i’m working on resolving those. he generally sleeps on the floor near my bed or out on the 2d floor landing just outside my bedroom.
Slightly different direction:
I think a couple of people mentioned it, but do any women wear a bra to bed?
If any guys wear a bra to bed, by all means, feel free to share.
Not a bra, sometimes one of those cotton camis with the built-in support. It’s really light support, enough to make me feel “secure” but not too restricted. Usually I only do this if I am spending the night somewhere away from home, like visiting friends.
Some women do wear a leisure/sleep bra to bed, or a cami.
When I had that damned lump removed from my nipple, I wore the Ace bandages AND a bra, for support.
And I’m usually in my birthday suit, unless it’s particularly cold or I’m sick.
Ouch! That makes sense.
I wear a cami, but not one with support. If I could find the right leisure bra, I would give it a try. I only wear the cami to keep my breasts separate when sleeping on my side.
