Sleeping attire/habits?

Yes, I AM really interested! This is quite fascinating. I love how many people sleep with their pets.

In summer I wear a voluminous, very lightweight sleeveless cotton nightgown. Even so, usually it gets too hot and I take it off at some point and sleep outside the covers. Later I’ll likely wake up and be too cold and put it back on and get under the covers… until I get too hot again… you get the idea. Same routine in winter except the nightgown is flannel. Fortunately my two doggy bed-mates don’t mind if I fidget.

Sometimes I sleep with earplugs, as the dogs have been known to snore and one of them sometimes wakes himself (and me) up around 3-4 AM with a coyote-wolf call thing that gets the other one started, too. I also wear an eye mask sometimes. I have a dozen of them, but thisis the best one.

If my feet are really cold, I’ll start with socks, but take them off during the night. If they get too hot, I’ll stick them out in the cool air even in winter.

I like very soft sheets, but not flannel, as they are too warm at any time of year. I like the way sheets feel when they’ve been washed a zillion times and are very very soft. On a sunny day, I put my pillows outside all day long and when I go to bed and lay my head on them, the smell of freshness beats any fabric softener. I recommend this practice to anyone who has the outside space or at least a clothesline. The fresh smell lingers for quite a few days.

I sleep on my side with narrow wedge pillow, with my own soft pillow at the wide end of the wedge and a full length body pillow along the front of my body, leaning on it. The far end of the body pillow goes between my knees. This is exquisitely comfortable. I recommend the wedge pillow for anyone bothered by acid reflux. It’s also good if you’re getting over a cold and have a nagging cough when you’re trying to sleep.

Generally, pajamas. But they’re hard to find these days, so I will buy pajama bottoms and either a T-shirt (summer) or a long-sleeved pullover shirt (winter).

I have different weight pajamas, ranging from flannel, to light cotton, to shortie pajamas (short pj pants and shirt).

Generally underwear and maybe a t-shirt. Not comfortable sleeping naked, especially now that I have a 60 pound dog who takes a running leap onto my bed around 6 a.m. every morning!

Nude. Share bed with wife (also nude), sometimes a 3yo (also nude), and a cat (furry).

Surgical scrub bottoms, no top.

GF and I both sleep nekkid. Dogs sleep on the floor, also nekkind.

Another nudist! I have a large collection of LHPNs (little house on the prairie nighties) that I will wear before bed as house dresses or whatever because as soon as I’m home - the bra comes off.

I may start sleeping with those but usually will take it off by the time I’m actually ready to sleep. I will wear socks if my feet are cold, but like several others will often take them off before too long. When i change the sheets I will often find several pairs tucked in the bottom.

I spend 3-4 nights a week alone, 3-4 nights with my bf. When we are together, I typically sleep on my side - either with my arm around him or my back to him. When I’m alone, I tend to sprawl. I sleep with a bunch of pillows so I can pretend he’s there.

I also sleep with a teddy bear every night I’m alone. I got in the habit in high school after a boyfriend bought me this huge bear. I sleep with my face on it’s belly, and the head jammed either under my chin or on my neck. All my bears are very, very flat in the middle!

And no matter how hot or cold it is, I have to have the overhead fan on. I need the movement of air on my face. I also have to have at least a sheet on me - even in hot weather. It’s just not really sleeping without it.

panurge-when did your LO start sleeping in the buff?

In the winter, it’s a sweatshirt and pajama pants. In the summer, usually just a t-shirt. I also have my bra and panties on, unless I shower right before I go to bed. Sometimes after my BF and I have relations, I’m too worn out/tired to put clothes back on so I fall asleep in the nude.

I am so glad you started this thread. Recently I was watching a movie, Witness to Murder, an old Barbara Stanwick film. (Available on Netflix streaming if anyone is interested.) In the first scene she gets out of bed; she is wearing a floor length gown; sleeveless, wide tight waistband with yards and yards of full skirt. I could not pay attention to what was happening for wondering about who could possibly sleep in such an outfit.
I wear, depending on temperature, T-shirt and shorts or birthday suit. Others who share my bed would be a combination of: my boyfriend, three cats and or one dog. If the dog gets there first only one of the cats is chummy enough with him for a curl up. On evenings when BF is not spending the night I always have books, e-reader, remotes, ipod, notebooks, pens and sometimes my laptop and the aforementioned animals. I like a cluttered bed.

Right after I returned from my travels with Pantagruel, I think.

As for the kid: My son has refused wearing clothes at night since he stopped wearing nappies last summer (age 2). He pretty much prefers to be naked all the time, really.

CT, I’m also fascinated by the bedclothes in old movies. They are as elaborate as ball gowns. Also, whenever ANYONE in the movies or on tv gets out of bed, even if the house is on fire or the police are at the door, they always grab a robe, put it on, and tie it closed before they open the bedroom door. I don’t keep a robe at the foot of my bed.

I’ve always that was funny too. Also they seem to put slippers on no matter what.

early product placement for the win. If the movie stars did it . . .

I have 2 bathrobes and only wear them when people are over and i don’t feel like putting on a bra or getting dressed.

Lo=little one :wink:

I sleep with my husband and occasionally one or both of our children. I really don’t like touching people while I sleep. I sweat like no one’s business (though not as much as I used to when I was nursing). Having someone touching me just makes me sweat more. My daughter earned my superpowers, too, so when we used to co-sleep when she still nursed at night, we’d both wake up soaked. Sounds pleasant, no?

I like just one pillow, a sheet and our huge duvet, preferably in a very cool room.

As for attire, I now sleep in pajama bottoms and a t-shirt. I used to sleep sans clothes, but doing so is a tad awkward with children. Last time I slept in a knee-length nightie, my son yelled, “Mommy! You forgot your pants!” in this scandalized voice. So I haven’t done it since.

Mostly naked, unless it’s extremely cold. In that case I wear a pair of thermal underwear and shirt. And whenever I can, I wear my collar to sleep in.

Roman collar? Are you a priest?

I’d like a poster of a priest wearing nothing but a Roman collar…
But what would the caption be?

Leather collar. Definitely not a priest.

Usually some combination of t-shirt/tank top and boxers/pants. I have a few slinky things for when the boyfriend is over… I usually sleep alone, unless it’s one of those times when the slinky things are called for. Or if it’s really cold, then I get a large cat in the bed with me. I’m usually really cold at night, so I have polar fleece sheets for the winter. For some reason I really like sleeping naked in the polar fleece…
