Sleeping in in the MMP

Well, had the good (girl’s soccer team won 3-2 and I refereed as U12 Girls game well), the bad (my boys’ team got beat 9-0) and the ugly (got an e-mail from one of my parents complaining one of the other boys called her son a name (9-year olds will do that) while pointing out that he’s the only ‘white’ kid on the team, and giving me some advice on how I’m not coaching right–I’ll reply tomorrow since replying now would not be a good idea–for me).

Beautiful Saturday for being outside mid-70’s with a little breeze. Rain is due tomorrow, however.

When my Mother died, the Methodist minister asked for things to tell jokes about at the funeral. I explained that death is a tragic event to Jews and nothing to laugh about, even if I hadn’t changed religions. The discussion eventually ended by his calling me a heathen. And he told jokes at the funeral.

The response is “Here’s a whistle - they’re all yours!”

Supper was yum! Ice cream later. It’s been a good day.

I relaxed.

I saw extra shifts were offered at work.

I decided to just say no.

Damn it felt good!

swampy, when my mother passed, it was early February in the land of lake effects snow. The Methodist minister neighboroffered his church for the memorial and the RC priest came in from 15 miles away to officiate. It worked out.

We didn’t have too many show for the creek cleanup this morning. I’m going to suggest that our group reevaluates the project next year. Afterward, I came home, took Nelson to the dog park while it was still nice (TWPTB are calling for rain and other nastiness tomorrow), then met a coworker for coffee. Brought a burger from Fat Mo’s home for supper. I’s stuffed.

That 4:49am post? There was a hiccup; coulda slept a whole 33 mins later. :frowning:

Drove past a cleanup today. There was a woman using one of those trash pickup poles as a support while she bent over & picked up trash with her hand. :smack: :smack:
Did almost everything on the list for today 'cept for one thing that woulda kept me out too late, but I wouldn’t have made it anyway after my nap (yes, that was one of the things on the list - see 4:49am post).
Went to see the good Dr. He’s [del]demented[/del] Demento.
Didn’t realize it as I’m not a fan, but there were two Deceased Milk Delivery Personal there, too.

Was your Mother Methodist or Catholic?

Catholic.

Worked. Went to Wing Fling at the Raleigh Beer Garden. Watching hockey at home now.

I still have my copy of Metaphysical Graffiti:smiley:

"Dear idiot:
You try herding cats with a bunch of prepubescent boys. And if you think you can, please sign up to coach next season. If not, my clipboard is available to shove up you rear orifice sideways.

P.S. Your boy is so unlike you in behavior and countenance, I would have the milkman tested for a DNA match.
Your Obedient servant,
Metalmouse"

I just had a candy bar today I hadn’t had in a long time. It’s from Australia, and it’s called Violet Crumble. The interior is a crispy, almost hard inside that’s sort of honey flavored and tends to shatter when bitten. It’s covered in chocolate. I had my first VC when we had a candy exchange here on the Dope and I got some stuff from an Australian poster.

My mom and I went to a nearby town, Lawrence, home of the University of Kansas. There’s a lot of good shopping in the downtown. The candy bar was sold at Brits, a store for all things UK. I also got some Twining’s teas that aren’t sold in most venues, like Lapsang Souchong.

Mom and I came home and had hotdogs for a late lunch. A good day.

As stated in my OP, I look forward to Moanday morning when I can sleep in & go to irk. Currently posting from the choo, which means I left my house over an hour ago.

It might be an expensive day because after my event I’m going to the photographer’s porn store.

Sun is just peeking thru the trees now, showcasing just how dirty the windows are; otherwise it would be a cool sunrise shot.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 74 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse all day. Last week we did not deheathenate due to it bein’ all rainy out. Today we shall deheathenate as one cannot use that excuse two weeks in a row. I think that’s a church law, or as we Whiskypalians say canon. I have a small ham bakin’ away as I post and it’s startin’ to smell nummy! I shall also bake the pineapple casserole. After deheathenization the casserole and beans can be heated up whilst the rolls are bakin’ up. I could warm up some ham slices but everyone that will be here likes cold ham.

Red if a Catholic Priest in a Methodist Church did not cause mass (HEE! MASS!) chaos then I reckon we’ll be safe with a Presbyterian Minister in a Methodist Church.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

My theatre group’s director was a retired musician from the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. He was very dedicated to the group, and everyone loved him. It’s so sad that he died the other day. :frowning: Gonna miss him.

Happy Sunday!

Well that’s a lie, it’s not happy at all.
I am grumpy this morning.
Just ask the critters, because both have them have had their butts chewed out this morning.

However, the sun is shining and it’s supposed to get all the way up to 63 degrees today, so there is that.
I wish it would warm up enough to turn the heat off, but it still drops into the low 40s at night.

Perhaps I can sit out front today without the neighbor blasting rap.
Bumba I still have my old stereo system upstairs with the big speakers. Enough shit from the neighbor and I may get inspired to hook it up.
I used to blast it when I lived in Baltimore and the drug dealers would congregate outside my dining room window. Black Sabbath and Guns n Roses were the best at running them off.

Swampy - just for future reference, I like my ham warmed up

I think I’ll make some chili today.
I have some Perdue chicken in the fridge, the kind that is already cooked and cut into strips. I don’t like it, but I need to find something to do with it. I suppose I could cut it up and add it to the chili, or just feed it to the critters.
I bought two bags of it since it was on sale, I’ll freeze the other bag and take it to my mother’s next time I go. With the four boys there, it’ll get eaten.
Sometimes I feel bad dumping stuff we don’t like on them.

Everywhere I look there is dog hair. We vacuum everyday and the hair just keeps multiplying. Ripple sheds like a husky.

Raining here, but the big storms are still in Mississippi, so looks like a wet day today. Shall spend it recuperating from yesterday’s activites and might even do something constructive…or not.

{{{Midget}}}.

Bought a airline ticket to Houston for the 16th; if I’m going to China I need a visa and the Chinese Embassy doesn’t allow you to ‘mail it in’, you got to show up at their consulate in person…so there goes another chunk o’money. On the good side I can make good connections and be back in my bed the same night, so no hotel stay.

Need to get back to interneting…good Sunday to all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Bathroom is cleaned. I’ll do the kitchen and vacuum after I get nback from the laundromat(and between hockey games this afternoon.)
Apparently it was a little chilly in the house last night. I woke up this morning, and found Gordie had tucked The Visible Pink Unicorn in with his favorite blanket.:dubious:

Red, hope you didn’t go out to breakfast this morning… Waffle House shooting: Suspect kills four, may be armed near Nashville

baker, I’ve made a nice sauce for roast beef using strongly brewed Lapsang Souchong tea, garlic, sweated celery and onion and a bit of arrowroot for thickening. I bought some at the tea shop to try it and, while I wasn’t crazy about it to drink, I knew that the smokiness would lend itself to savory recipes.

swampy, the Methodists who I know tend to be good at the hospitality thing and Methodist church lady food is very comforting.

I’m sorry for your loss emily. :frowning:

metal mouse, that was the first thing I saw on the news this morning. That WH is about ten miles down the road from me. I feel for the folks who were shot.

Today has started out with light sprinkles and is supposed to continue being rainy(ish) all day. I intend to do Sunday chores and laze for the most part. I’ll try a new recipe for sweet potato and black bean enchiladas with cilantro lime slaw for supper. Meanwhile, I have a sleepy pup on my lap.

Busy busy morning already, but I’ve got some time to chill.

We woke early, drove to Annapolis for breakfast, then on to just beyond BWI to pick up my car at my sister’s house. Once we got back, I took a load of trash and recycling to the convenience center. I’ve opened the bedroom to allow Cleo to come out if she’s so inclined. Taz has been in there checking things out.

If it warms a little more, I’m going to do some raking - my gardens are full of leaves. But not much else planned. I just want a lazy day.

Happy Sunday!

missred, I first learned about Lapsang Souchong in James Michener’s novel *Centennial. * A mountain man’s gathering in the early 1800’s had merchants arriving from all over. They had both necessities and little luxuries for sale. This tea was described in detail when a salesman was touting it to an important character in the book. It sounded intriguing so I located some and have enjoyed it ever since.
