Sliding into May in the MMP

Howdy, Busy day getting the EOM/FOM stuff done. I must away to the Pubic Store for grub first as the cupboards are bare at irk. Have a great day all!

Commute from Hell

Today was a commuting day. It’s 115 miles from my home to the office. There was a fatal crash on the 5 this morning. (It wasn’t me.) The freeway was great – until it wasn’t. It was miles to the next exit, so there was no place to turn around so I could work from home. The crash was at the next exit. Traffic was stopped. It took two hours and twenty minutes to get to the exit. Then I had another hour and ten minutes to get to the office.

Of all the passengers we’ve flown who were afraid of flying, only one time did we land to let someone out; that’s saying something.

& after some time, it will become a mildly distressed tent. :stuck_out_tongue:

Take the pencil out of your nose!

I shoulda met you, I was in Jim Thorpe on Sunday. When’s the next one?
Rotorhead, look for something positive, you get a commute home tonight; someone else doesn’t. :frowning:

I just realized I didn’t take my lunch break today. I’m freaking hungry. There’s a candy bar in my desk… but I’m not at my desk. At this point, I think I’ll just power through. We have to clean the house a bit more tonight. Juliet Jr. has a friend coming over on Saturday, so I want the house clean. However, we have swim class tomorrow night, we’re going to see Double Dare Live as a family on Thursday and Romeo and I have tickets to see a play on Friday. But I can get Juliet Jr. motivated to help; she needs to clean if she wants her friend over. Keeping her brother from undoing everything we’re doing is the tricky part…

Mowed the lawn again today, and then used up the rest of my bug killer granules on the digger bees, not that it seems to have any effect on them. We may have to go back to our original remedy; pouring gasoline down their individual holes.
You just don’t want to light a match after you’ve done that.:smack:

Ate lunch, including one of the most sugar-laden snickerdoodle cookies I’ve ever experienced. There’s a reason Murikans are so fat.

Gonna go mess about in the garage for a little while. I’m making legs for my new train layout, since I can’t seem to buy anything at the Home Despot that starts out straight and stays straight.

Then i needs to go find a bunch of crunchy tacos. Wifey has a gnawing and a craving for crunchy tacos. Seems Taco Hell is the only place in town that makes the crunchy type. OR, we could make our own. Prolly the best plan.

Fed ex had pissed me off

My vacuum didn’t get delivered due to location security delay.
I’m like wtf? I was home at the time they came out so what is the problem?
Sat on hold waiting for a chat operator who ignored the question and just said they will try to redeliver it tomorrow. So I called to speak to a person and got stuck in the menu hell. Finally I get a live person for whom English is not their first language who gives me the same they will try to deliver it tomorrow. Finally I got him to understand that I wanted to know what a location security delay is and find out it is because the road is closed because the gas company is replacing the lines.
I thought that is what it might be.
Well the road is going to be closed again tomorrow, and the next day and the next day, but ups and usps have NO problems delivering anything. The poor ups guy parks at the corner and carries the package down, which he doesn’t have to do because the gas people will let delivery people and residents in. But he’s not too lazy to get his ass out of the truck and deliver something. Or like the plumbers, who simply asked if they could come through to work on my pipes.
Poor ups man, he is so nice, and the next time I see him I will let him know it’s okay to drive through to deliver a package.

Anyway,
If I had not called and said it is okay to drive to my house I would never get the package because the road has been and will be closed for weeks.

Howdy Y’all! I completed laundry and have the cee-mint pond lookin’ decent but needs more irk still. The pool place actually had algaecide and salt in stock a plenty. I called to ask. So, I went and got both. Hopefully tomorrow the cee-mint pond will be in shape to start usin’. YAY! Chikin enchiladas (OLÈ!) and sides have been ingested. Chillage and fartage to ensue.

sari, Nelson gets along well with other dogs when we’re off premises, but he tends to be a bit jealous here at home. He tolerates my SIL’s chihuahua and Sis’ dogs (he’s related to all of them) when they come to visit, but, while he doesn’t snap or anything, he definitely cops an attitude with others. At the dog park, Lowe’s, meet ups, etc, he’s a gentleman. FedEx never could find my last apartment. Anything that was to be delivered, I usually specified UPS or USPO if there was an option. If not, I just didn’t order.

I had originally planned to sweep and mop the kitchen, laundry room, bathroom and entryway this afternoon when I got home from irk. I wound up in a late meeting, so I figured that I would edit that to sweeping. As soon as I walked in the door, I smelled it. Poor little Nelson had had a massive runny poo in his crate ( TMI, I know)He was waiting in the back of it with Rocky Raccoon (his lovey) instead of anxiously waiting at the front. It was bad enough that everything in it except the food and water dishes went into the washing machine with plenty of bleach and I scrubbed and sanitized the crate. My laundry room now smells like the YMCA. :stuck_out_tongue:

Last night, about 11:30, he woke me up carrying his lovey around and whining. There were helicoptors flying around (I’m close to both the town’s airport and the National Guard Armory, so that happens once in a while) and he was scared. It lasted acouple of hours, so I’s tahred and will likely go to bed early tonight.

 (not for the diarrhea, for Nelson and Lovey.) Gibbs has a ratty little stuffed bunny (sometimes referred to as ‘bio-hazard bunny’ when it needs a wash) That Wifey’s late sister gave to him when he was just a baby. (He’s 5 now). When it’s time to go to bed he gets his bunny and carries it around the house and in and out of the bathroom while we’re toothbrushing, etc. and then it goes to bed with him. Very cute.

Well, after I procured the makin’s for crunchy tacos I got the mail and in it was an ad (among many) from Jack inna Box, and guess what they sell? Crunchy tacos. :smack:
(I know I could buy 'em from Taco hell, but their website annoys me.)
Oh well. Home made are better anyway.

“A North Little Rock man was killed in an Arkansas highway wreck Tuesday morning after pulling out of a gas station and into the path of a garbage truck, authorities said.”
I pity the guy who writes obituaries.
“We will all miss Bob, who pulled out in front of a garbage truck.”

Well, not everyone did miss Bob. Because he’s dead. Because the truck didn’t miss him. I could go on all day.

Poor Nelson. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Akiko-pup went to the groomer today. She’s been blowing her coat and there is fur everywhere. The groomer washed her and brushed out all the fluff. Huzzah!

Has anyone heard from Midget?

Saw Captain Marvel today–tickets were $5, popcorn and soda $10.50…but it was a good movie even if the plot was so simple even I had it figured out the first 5 minutes. So tomorrow I add to the $1.5B take on Avengers: Endgame.

Soccer practice went well (as well as it can with 8/9-year olds) and am now in for the evening.

Sari, hope you get the package tomorrow.

Bumba, I thought the idea was to light a match after pouring the gasoline in…

Red, hope Nelson and the laundry room both recover…

LA John, one reason I never moved to the East or West Coast was the commute and traffic.

ruble, is Walter the Pollock in regards to ethnicity or does he really have a fish on his head?

Back to internettin’.

lol if i didn’t know where you were id say that sounds like just another day on the 5

Now does the ca 5 go that far up or is that just a mirror of the 5 i know and love

yesterday it decided to tease us and drizzle off and on, now it’s just chilly funny thing is Saturday half the neighborhood was on their roofs fixing the swamp coolers for summer … I remarked "now its gonna get cold and rain " sure enough Sunday it looked like it was gonna storm … now im getting looks from the neighbors as if I have super weather powers …

Nelson is feeling better. Thanks for all of your wishes.

bumba, Nelson got Rocky Raccoon for his first birthday last year. He’s basically a big squeaky covered in plush. Over the course of the year and trips through the wash, his squeak has become a rattle, but he’s still Nelson’s go to toy. When we come back in from his walk in the afternoon, he will wait at the laundry room door until I open it and tell him Donde esta Rocky?, then Venga aqui!. If I don’t, he will let me know. One Sunday evening, we got home from a meet up and I didn’t realize that Rocky was still in the laundry room. When we went to bed that night, he kept whining. I very quickly realized that he hadn’t brought Rocky to me to hold until he got under the covers. :stuck_out_tongue: (Yes, I got up to let him in to get his lovey.)

On Easter Sunday, after the earlychurch service, I had some conversation with some fellow members while we had after service refreshments. One guy had dragged himself to church and we were surprised, as we all knew him to be dying from pancreatic cancer. Somehow a bit of politics crept in and I wondered what to do, as this dude is one who thinks Trump will be know to history as our greatest President. I even heard him say so as I got up to leave and could not refrain from reposting with No, the worst. I did not want to make a sick person upset so I just kept going. I hope his wife, who is a friend, did not hear all this, I can not remember if she was at the table where we had been sitting with a few other folks. Especially since I just found out he is dead, dying early this morning.

I wish him well though, and hope he gets to talk to his brother again. His brother died 9/11/2001. and I am sure that contributed to the angry politics of the guy I knew. I also feel kind of bad at the snarky comment I made to a man who had so little time left.

Seattle traffic makes me miss L.A. traffic.

The 5 runs from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.

lol see ya can’t get too homesick … j if ya do ust drive on the freeway when its warm/hot out and sit in the traffic jam and be glad its not 110 f …

What I meant was that Seattle traffic is utter Hell. L.A. traffic is only hellish.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (dark, actually) with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall lay in provisions this mornin’ and figure out what sup will be whilst doin’ so. I look to the Pubic sto’ for inspiration. At some point I must also go over to the church house to drag the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash cans all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Midweek Eucharist is at six p.m. so mayhaps I should go then. I suppose some midweek deheathenization wouldn’t hurt.

Hope all the doggies are feelin’ better today, bless their hearts!

CupCakes don’t feel too bad. He made the remark and expressed his views, so as I see it, you were not wrong to also express your views. Still, I hope his passing is/was peaceful.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate goin’ about the public attire. Life can be so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Another bad night - weird dreaming and multiple wakings for no apparent reason. Baby Engineer is on his way to Norfolk with one of the other engineers, so I’ll have the office to myself. Here’s hoping the work keeps coming, otherwise, I’ll doze off.

Happy Wednesday!
