So my boss called me out on using the internet too much at work… so I’m posting this from my phone and I may be a bit more scarce around here…
She was recently on Facebook speaking of adjacent apartment noise and not being able to practice her clarinets.
My schedule this week will be a bit different - I’ll be off tomorrow, but I’ll work Firday. Naturally, there’s a hot bit of drafting that needs to be done before Firday. Looks like the other drafter will be drafted.
In his case it could be either.
But mostly because of ethnicity; with that background and marrying into a half-Siberian-half-Irish family you are going to get labeled. And it doesn’t hurt that he is just a little ------ odd.
Way back when he first married into the clan the two of us went shooting together. He’s another old farm boy and a pretty good shot and we had fun until I got out the auto-mag. He saw me shoot it a couple times and asked to try it and I said sure. So he stood out there in the classic one-handed target stance and I suggested me may want to use both hands. He didn’t ---- and the recoil brought it right back into his forehead. I had just started to say something when he pulled the trigger again — and beat himself in the head yet again. And again and again until the clip was empty.
Walter – what the heck? Why didn’t you stop shooting or change stances after that first round?"
“I forgot where the safety was.”
That doesn’t mean you couldn’t have handed it off to me or changed stances."
“I didn’t think of that.”
:smack:
Don’t get me wrong; we love the guy. Always did. God help anyone outside the clan who picks on him or treats him bad. But he is/was/always will be Walter the Pollock. God bless him for it.
Other than that laundry; and lots to catch up on.

There’s a funny story there which I am forbidden to tell (again)
Let’s just say that was the evening we found out about volunteer fire departments.
My cracked tooth, that I think I told you about previously, is starting to bother me some.
It’ll likely be the end of the month before it gets fixed though.
Other than that, just another day. :dubious:
**FCD **called - the electric company showed up today to run the wire to the building - with luck, they’ll install the transformer today, too. We shall see.
Plus the garage door guy showed up - we can finally close the building!!
Happy Hump Day!
It’s cloudy and noisy outside. The gas company people are tearing up the neighbor’s yard. They are supposed to replace my meter and some pipes. Don’t know if it will be today or not.
I got my vacuum, took me forever to put it together.
It seems very complicated, it can be an upright or you can carry it, and it has a canister caddy, and it has lots of attachments.
I took the morning off since I knew it would be too noisy to irk. I got the brat off to daycare, so I have been able to get some stuff done around here.
I put food put for the white tailed cat and Adam ate it, the pig. I suppose I should figure out a name for the cat, white tail is so cumbersome. I’m going to get him/her some canned food and see if that will work. Adam doesn’t like canned food, but I suspect he might when he has some competition.
I hope both Higgs and Nelson are feeling better.
I guess I should be waking up my son. He has to register for the fall semester, should have done it weeks ago.
He also needs to change his school password, and I need to change the account for my car insurance automatic payment.
We need to get groceries tomorrow, but I’ll wait to order in the morning since the prices change tonight. I always try to order what is on sale.
I don’t need to order much for me, but he is out of food after today.
I think I’ll do a bit of yard irk, then get my son to help me figure out the damn vacuum.
It came with a steam mop, so I think I’ll throw the old one away. The bottle for the cleaning solution falls out all the time and it is a pain to use.
Is that .44 magnum, or that dinky little .357?
the only thing special going on today is we bought a rechargeable pool vacuum from da jungle and it arrived last night and we put it together and are charging it …the algicide (get the Clorox 2 in one brand that way it kills the algae and de clouds the water) and better chlorine(kem-tek is the best lowes sells it whatever brand Walmart sells is water,)) cleaned it so its clear but all the leftovers are at the bottom … ill let ya know if it works as advertised …
Oh and our butterfly nest that’s somewhere in the neighborhood just had its second hatching and there’s a flurry of baby butterflies everywhere …so cool
I like my new vac except it is very heavy. I may try it as a canister instead of an upright.
My son came out of his room and said did you get a new vacuum cleaner, I said yeah, can you tell the difference. He said not only does the rug look better, but it feels better on his bare feet.
It also does a much better job on the hard wood floors.
He did some more work cleaning the patio. I think a power washer is what is needed now. I did some more trimming out there, I hope the neighbor won’t think I trimmed too much in her yard.
Evenin’ all.
Yet again I shall be stuck in irkin’ on skool stuff most of the week. One more week, then this gets handed in and it’s just the exams; one more month and it’s done ‘til September. Well, in theory. In practice I hope to play with tiny plants for next years project startin’ over the summer, so I can be ahead and minimise the ‘AHH, everything at once!’ panic. That barely counts though, and some brain shall be spared for other stuff.
Feeling fairly cheerful about it today though; got the result for the Epic Assignment, and it’s the highest mark I’ve had yet for courseirk, 9% into the highest mark category
Yeah, not a humblebrag, just a straight-up brag. I have to get my boasting in somewhere though, and I can’t at skool without feeling a bit mean if other people didn’t do well, and I know some didn’t.
so how much schooling do you have left to do to graduate for lack of a better term?
New retired record, I stayed in bed until 10;11am. Got up, ate, cleaned up, and went to see Avengers: Endgame. No spoilers, but I think Infinity Wars was a better movie, but this one had more than a few satisfying (and some tear-jerker) moments.
About an hour and I’ve got to get ready for soccer practice with the 6-year olds. Only problem with sleeping in so late is that the rest of the day gets compressed.
ruble, thanks for Walter’s story.
shady, sounds like you and swampy can compare pool-preparation notes.
Sari, you could call the stray “Antlers” for the 'white tail" (deer).
May all the doggies get to feelin’ better.
Cupcakes, not one to tell you if you should have said something or not; it was and always is your call.
Nut, congrats on the score. Keep it up!
Complicated question- all going well, I’d be graduating from this course at the end of this year; however, I’m currently on a rather obscure Foundation Degree. I then have to re-enrol for another year to turn that into a BSc, which I’m intending to do, and I was always planning on doing.
As I’ve been out of eddycation for quite a while, they were happier taking me on the shorter course initially (older students, perhaps surprisingly, seem to be more likely to drop out), but I got formally offered the option to take the top-up year today, on condition that I pass this year.
If I want, I think I can go to the grad ceremony two years in a row, and sit through 4 hours of boring speeches, wearing a silly hat and rented gown, for one measly glass of champers.
I thought I’d see how my old Sekonic L-398 light meter was reading. I compared it to the internal meters on two of my SLRs, and it didn’t match. So I got out one of my Minolta Auto Meter IV-Fs. The Sekonic didn’t match it. Then I got out my other three Minolta meters. All four agreed. So I guess the Sekonic needs to be calibrated. (Or I can save the money and just use one of the Minoltas!)
Congrats Nuts!
I like it MetalMouse. I had been thinking of Bambi, because even though Bambi is a buck, I think the name can go either way, but the cat doesn’t look like a Bambi. It is skinny, with long legs, and a big round head. So Antlers it will be.
Almost time to go pick up the brat.
Higgs lost the toenail, but she seems to be back to her old self. She’s got a course of antibiotics, plus pain meds if she needs them. All in all, she’s doing well.
We have power to the building and we have a garage door. Tomorrow, I hope to get the mulch put down, then I’ll post some pics. Our final inspection should be tomorrow - fingers crossed!
I just finished the dishes. The rest of the evening is for chillage.
WTG nut!
Nelson has rebounded. He’s full of his usual piss and vinegar now and demanding endless games of fetch.
The EoM, FoM reporting went well today and I even had a couple of hours to help one of my colleagues finish up her project this afternoon. This evening, I’m finishing up a birthday present for the sister in Chicago and setting up the craft for the heathen children this Sunday (we’re meeting a week early because of Mother’s day). I plan to make my mom’s recipe of chicken pie for the potluck in honor of Mother’s day and her birthday.
Howdy Y’all! I laid in provisions, got the cee-mint pond in pretty good lookin’ shape, made boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and garlic cheesey bread for sup, went over to the church house for midweek Eucharist and hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can (only one this week!) down to where it goes for pickup tomorrow. All in all a productive day, I reckon.
Nuts congrats! It ain’t braggin’ if ya done it!
Yay for Nelson and Higgs feelin’ better!
Sari yay for new and better vac!
These movies y’all are talkin’ about, well, I have no desire to go watch. Glad y’all have enjoyed 'em however.
