So, you’ve all heard by now, I’m sure, that the Geico Cavemen are getting their own TV show in the fall…:dubious: but it’s true.
So, my question is, when with the WaMu Banker’s Pen get their own show? They’ve certainly had more, um, exposure* than the Cavemen…
*have you seen the one where they meet Bill in the parking garage and tell him they’ve signed up for a checking account on line - nekkid?
Well, Geico just miffed me. Turns out when she gave me the quote earlier, she hadn’t considered the “incidents” - that is, the 3 claims we’ve had in the last 3 years. So that bumped us up almost $700 for 6 months, tho it’s still way lower than what Travelers wanted. What ticked me off, tho, was that I spent yet another hour plus while she figured all of this out. My ears are numb from the stupid phone.
One thing I did discover - after I get the kid off our insurance, it’ll be half the cost. Three cars and two drivers in southern MD costs the same as one car and one driver in Orlando. Insanity! Then again, I’ve driven in Orlando… Can’t wait till the kid graduates and takes over her own bills.
I had a similar experience, FCM. In the past, my procrastination caused me to have my registration revoked, because I couldn’t remember to pay my ins bill on time. So I had to go with a company that specialized in insuring folks with bad credit (not really my sitch, but they were the only ones who’d take me on) Well, after two years of building back my credit (and having my bills paid automatically thru my bank) I was ready to shop around for a better deal. I call Geico and the first quote they gave me was close to 45% of what I was currently paying. Wow! thought I, there must be a catch. The catch was, that after they figured my driving record and credit score into the equation, it ended up being $100 more than my current rate. I told them, no thanks. I was then inundated with postal and e- junk mail, and phone calls. I finally told them to put me on their no-call list, or I’d start a wave a really bad publicity for them.
I haven’t been around much the last few weeks, I was in significant pain and thought I had a bad sinus infection. Finally the pain was too much, and it was my tooth (now teeth with the reffered pain) that was the issue, although the entire left side of my head hurts. I just got back from the dentist, and he is having me come in in the morning for a freaking root canal!!! I am ascairt, as I have heard nothing but horror stories about the procedure, but he is adamant about doing the root canal even though I would prefer him to just pull the stupid tooth. I have scripts for penicillin and vicodin being filled right now, and seeing how many words I am misspelling I should probably go back to bed. I will pop in once I am feeling better, I just wanted to say I miss all y’all. I hope that everyone is doing well and have a wonderful week every one!
Oh no, have we got a Nark in here?
Oops, nevermind. It’s just An Arky.
My car insurance completely doubled when whiterabbit was on it, too, FCM, and it didn’t matter where we lived. If offspring is under 25, their rates are waaaay high. Females, too, these days; apparently the young women learned how to be as reckless drivers (as a class) as young men. So getting offspring off of one’s insurance is a great way to cut rates in half. Also, moving to Merrylande will also do it, at least from Lousiana; whiterabbit’s insurance bill got sliced and diced, to her great pleasure, when she came up here.
kai - I had root canal in a front-ish (1 off center) tooth - it was nothing. I guess it depends on which tooth, but I’ve heard from others, that the further front it is, the less of an ordeal it is. But if you trust your dentist, fret not.
oh, kai, hugs and good wishes coming your way. I never heard anyone saying a root canal was a walk in the park, but my spousal unit actually watched his being done - his dentist gave him a mirror. So maybe it’ll be easier on you if you have a mirror??? Or not. Take all your drugs and feel better soon!!!
Kai - it’s not that bad, hon, don’t fret yourself sick. Take a pain pill before you go, it will help keep you from being so tense. Pre-arrange a signal with your dentist that you will lift your hand or whatever if you feel the slightest bit of pain. Take an i-pod or something you can listen to with headphones; it will help distract you. Most of all, try not to worry; being tense will make it more unpleasant and will make you sore afterwards. I am the Queen and Chief High Priestess of Dental Fear - I can honestly tell you it’s not all that bad. Do make sure he gives you more pain meds for afterwards if he didn’t give you enough, when the novacaine wears off you want to already have some on board to help with the soreness. I’ll be sending good thoughts to you.
I did another bracelet today I really liked until I was uploading the picture to show it off. I see now I messed up the beading so I’ll have to take it apart and do it over. Damn it and I don’t have any more wire. Oh well. You can still see the beads - I like those.
kai, root canals sound worse than the really are. Trust me, I’ve had 4 of 'em. They’re tedious and go on and on forever, but the pain relief is wonderful afterwards. My single piece of advice is if they offer you gas, take it. It makes the time go by quicker and less annoyingly. Here is a recent thread on root canals. Lots of good advice in there.
I’m just lazing around tonight, as it’s simultaneously Monday and Friday. Woo hoo! I don’t have to work until Thursday. Don’t get paid, either, but I’ll worry about that next week.
Wow, busy day. Well, actually, I finally went to sleep after hubby left for work at 4:30 AM and slept until 12:30 PM. I feel much more rested now. Bobbio good OP. The officer who went into the building alone would be fired on the spot here. We’ve had enough firefighters die saving stuff lately.
I just got back from taking hubby his asthma inhaler. He doesn’t usually need it at work, but he did today, for some reason. Anyway, I drove back along the waterfront. It was sunny, 78° and I had the top down. I was amazed at the yummy smells coming from the sidewalk fooderies along Alaskan Way. I was up on the viaduct. I smelled Chinese spices from Uwajimaya’s, alder-smoked salmon from Ivar’s Acres of Clams, even popcorn and cotton candy from somewhere. It made me kinda glad traffic was slow.
Of course, I was starving by the time I got home. I had a :dubious: salad :smack: . Then I walked on the treadmill as punishment for wanting all that other stuff. (Yes, I wanted all of it!)
Dieting sucks. So does exercise, but I have to get healthier. I promised hubby I’d live a long time, and I won’t be keeping my promise if I don’t take care of myself.
How many years would I get for strangling my brother? I mean, I feel like I’m totally being provoked here. Ringing up $315 on international calls seems like a legit provocation to me.
Totally different topic, but have any of you Cool Kids tried online dating? I have somewhat of an irrational wariness towards it, but lately I’ve been growing bored and really have no other way of meeting new people. I really hate playing the dating game, but on the other hand I could use some distraction in my life.
I’m a her. And damn, I want a Kit Kat candy bar now!
I went in for my post-surgical followup today. One of the incisions (the big one) didn’t heal completely closed, but I got no infections or anything. And I got my path report (it was a clear cell, grade 2 tumor, or something like that–I gave it to my mom to make copies). Found out I need to get my note to go back to work from the surgeon and not my PCP, so I called his office after I got out and they should have a letter done by tomorrow, and will call me to pick it up when it’s done.
Also, I’ve lost 8 pounds since June 13.
FCM: When my car was totaled, Geico gave me Bluebook value for it, minus my deductible. I had the check in about a week.
