I was real surprised that there was no thread about this.
I’m a little lost because I don’t have cable (the local ABC station is broadcasting the CW on their .2 didgital subchannel) and have only seen episodes that are in syndication (I’ve seen some season 4 eps). I decided to watch the episode anyway when I heard “kneel before Zod” in the preview.
I don’t have any specific questions and I’m not asking for a summary (I can find that online), just reactions from people who’ve seen most episodes (spoilers OK with me)
Unfortunately my rabbit ears don’t pick up the WB/CW/WTF very well in the rain or ever for that matter, so I saw the episode dimmly and with a lot of static. Loved the “Kneel before Zod.” I haven’t been that excited for a line since the line in Snakes on a Plane. Also love that Jimmy Olsen is being set up as a rival with Clark. Let the superdickery commence!
Smallville doesn’t really seem to have much of a following on the SMDB. At least lately.
I watch it for Welling, Rosenbaum, and Allison Mack (Chloe). The overall arc of the story (teenage Clark Kent growing into Superman) is slow, and a little inconsistent (does Jor-El want Kal to conquer or protect?), but I still keep tuning in.
I will admit that during the scene with Zod and Clark in the field, I was sitting there with a big fanboy grin going “say it! SAY IT!” followed by a triumphant “YES!”. Fortunately, I was alone in the house so I didn’t have to endure any mocking.
My husband scared the cats, woke the baby and my son and I could do nothing but laugh at his silly fan-boy ass for the next 10 minutes. He will be mocked for some time to come (until he remembers that I still cry at the second-to-last scene of Moulin Rouge after 542 viewings, and mocks back.)
I liked it. I liked the directionless Clark - no dad, no other dad, no idea what to do or where to go. As long as it doesn’t stay there (that is, as long as it’s not a whole mopey season a la *Buffy *season 7) it was a nice interlude. I’m glad Chloe’s got her eye on someone else, and I’m really relieved they’re not going love story with Chloe and Clark, although that kiss was teh hawt. Do Clark good to know he’s not the only man in her life.
