FCM you have a freezer that sounds like the satchel Mary Poppins carried. I’m sure you can rustle up something fit for two small children at the last minute.
{{{{{{ to you and your mom, your kids too! }}}}}}
You’re lucky she likes you. She could of aimed slightly lower.
Thanks for letting us know about snookie, smartie.
I hope that it’s nothing serious with SIL Mooooooom.
Irked in power down, then the Apkudo, a fun line, today. Tomorrow, my lead should have caught up with me and I’ll be a < snerk > flasher < snerk >.again. One more day!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
I attempted mowage. It now seems I have 2, count 'em 2, non-functioning riding mowers in the garage. So I was reduced to using the push mower. Now I’m sweaty. Unfortunately, I know precisely fuck and all about gasoline motors, so Imma need a motor savvy friend to come by and do a diagnosis. I can fix many, many things, but engines are not one of those things.
But I did accomplish mowage.
{{{To all who needs 'em.}}}
Howdy Y’all! Like VanGo I did accomplish mowage today. OYKW procured provisions and fixed sup. I lolled about after mowage and a shower, as I was exhausted and needed to regain my strenght. OK, I sipped beer on the back porch whilst admirin’ my handiwork and then achieved nappage. All in all, not a bad day I suppose. Productivity and sloth. A good combo.
Dicey hope y’alll are feelin’ better soonest.
{{{wordy}}} hope mom is feelin’ better after her hospital stay and stays relatively so.
And a third mowage in a row accomplished. LIke Vango, I did via push mower and in 83F heat did work up a nice sweat. Got some new gym shorts (the newer style that comes almost to the knees) and got one pair broken in at least. Have a Black Sheep collection (3 bags full) of clippings sitting on the curb for Moanday pickup. Also did 1,000 yards in the pool in 34:45 and got a nap in-between, so a fairly active day. Need to fix a Cheeburger for dinner and then return to sloth mode for the evening…
FCM, this has happened to SIL before, am I remembering correctly? Hope it’s nothing serious. I suspect the kids won’t be too picky.
Or polish Slaw… Stanisław…
OK, that’s all, need to prepare sustenance. Have a good night all.
3.04 mph today, 3.05 mph Monday, and (personal best) 3.14 mph last Friday. So that’s 3 mph over my last three walks. Yay.
Cats got their gooshy food, I’ve been de-sweatified, the Spousal Unit just made herself some popcorn, and I’m thinking about making a Romaine salad with rotisserie chikkin in it.
Well played. With the “ł” and everything.
Home again safely, my lovely chickadees. Where did I go today, bored/lonely/hungry?
An hour anna half round trip, for soup. That’s what your silly ol’ gal Shoe is willing to do for some halfway decent chicken pho.
I can make it about 4-6 months before imma like, okay, we’re gonna go get this thang. I will do what it takes.
powers up classic rock playlist for a long drive
Never underestimate how stubborn I can be. I’m lazy, and have amazing powers of denial and/or ignoring things, but eventually …
I’ve been compared to water. Ever seen the Grand Canyon? Me, neither, but I’ve seen pictures … water + time + stubbornness = screw you, giant rocks.
That’s how stubborn I felt today, about wanting this thing that I cannot get locally.
My apartment smells bad: old dogs aren’t exactly petunias. Still, I had a wonderful time with my son. While I love his wife and, of course, love his sister dearly, I very seldom get my first-born all to myself. I kept remembering the bright-eyed little newborn I got to snuggle when we were both recovering from his grand entrance.
Lunch was delicious, and the parfait drew raves.
I went to the gym. I’m still pretty wimpy, but I did get 45 minutes on the treadmill at a 12 (out of 15) incline, so I’m getting there, slowly but slowly.
If only you’d moved to western Washington! You can’t throw your hat without hitting a decent pho place.
What does it say about me that I kept thinking “Sexy slaw”? Never mind. I don’t think I want to know.
FCM, what’s the word on your SIL? Hope he’s OK.
Home at last! Tobias was easy to feed - well, as easy as an almost-toddler can be. And Roxy had mac-n-cheese with a side of cucumber salad. When it became obvious that the ER visit wasn’t going to be a quick one, we took the grands to their house so we could put them to bed. Plus the dog and cats needed to be fed, and poor Cozmo needed to peeeeeeeeeeeee!!
I got Roxy settled without too much hassle - even made do with one story. She was pretty tired, tho - I could tell.
Getting Tobias in his jammies was like rasslin’ a hyper octopus - that little dude can flip and turn, and he’s pretty strong for a little guy. I rocked him while giving him a bottle, but as I was putting him to bed, I accidentally jostled him, and he started crying… So back to the glider for more rocking - I finally got him down around 9. That lasted till 9:30 when he started crying again, and my nose told me he needed to be changed. Yep, he was a poopy mess. I got him cleaned up and in a fresh diaper, then rocked him again, but once I lay him in bed, the eyes popped open.
I gave up and decided to hold him on the rocker till his parents came home.
Speaking of SIL - he was severely dehydrated, which is why he fainted. Twice. But they did some tests and juiced him up with an IV, and he’s fine now. We shall all nag him about drinking water.
And speaking of Stanislaw, my Aunt Stella’s birth name was Stanislawa - she’s the only aunt born in Poland - my dad’s second oldest sister. Apparently his mom went back to Poland to visit family after the first daughter was born, and that’s where her second made her appearance.
OK, it’s almost 11 and I need my beauty sleep. I’ll be back in a few hours, with luck, somewhat rested.
MWAH!!
shoe You go, that description of stubbornness made me smile. I frequently say the way to get things done is a combination of stubbornness and leverage. Lazy + stubborn makes great things.
I am so sorry for not replying, but thank you for doing that. I know that Turkey Vultures have a highly developed sense of smell and can locate carrion miles away, but for some reason I never thought that grain had enough of a scent to be noticed.
Ignorance fought, thank you!
…a while back the state got tired of finding bodies in the mine shafts so capped many of the smaller ones with concrete, the larger ones are fenced and boarded up.
Nettie, if DH is able to stay awake for longer than 10 minutes, you might want to think about getting him into the shower or even a bath if possible. His body is used to being physically active and just laying around for days is probably making his joints and such hurt. I hope you stay well.
Snerts. Mom says our back and forth is always the most entertaining part of her visit. Sometimes I do wonder how my eyes haven’t rolled to Australia yet.
Are you going to get the bidet toilets with heated water and fans? That would mean you would only need a roll of terlit paper a year! Mine uses tap water but it doesn’t get cold enough here to worry about a midnight blast of ice water over my nether region.
It’s really surprising the discounts and bennies available that people don’t know about. I learned about asking for help with medical bills back when hubs had his quad bypass and like you never thought that I could get so much forgiven by asking nicely.
We get a 25% discount on our electricity bill just because I applied during the 6 week period our income was low enough to qualify years ago. Every year the discount runs out and the electric company sends us a letter asking for financial documents. Every year we send them a copy of our taxes that clearly show that we are over income and every year we are approved again. I suspect it’s a case of nobody wanting to bother actually looking at the documentation but hey, we’ll take it.
Many, many hugs. I don’t know how you feel, but I can sure empathize. I miss Mom so much it hurts to call her. More hugs and sympathy.
And now our internet is fading again. Oh bother. My BFF lives even more remotely than we do AND they don’t do hobbies. Everything in their home is powered by their cell phone hot spots. They are suffering even more than hubs and they both work somewhere with coverage.
Today I picked up our surplus food boxes. I keep going later and later because I have a certain area I want to wait in and people just can’t seem to stand it if there is room between the cars. There is plenty of food and I don’t care if 3 or 4 cars park in front of me, I don’t want to park in the sun and I don’t want to block the intersection. I’m fairly sure I’m going to see one of the ranch guys drop a huge load of hay on someone parking there.
And the interwebz have become so unreliable that I’m hearing whining. I’m going to say good night and then hang around for a while just because.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
This thing was definitely build by the lowest bidder.
In theory it’s a machine that can scan and label for delivery 15k pieces in 3 hours. In practice, the air pressure is wrong, so the labels don’;t stick, or there’s dust in the scanner, or it has a toddler level meltdown because the box was the wrong shape.
I resemble that remark(on Mom’s side)
One challenge right now is both of us awake at the same time. I’m having the sore throat and fatigue, too, while still testing negative.
Google finds 4 different horshoe canyons. Your reputation precedes you.
Hubby’s still sleeping. Honey+hot water helps a lot for his coughing. Add a Dafalgan (paracetamol) and he can really sleep well.
I think he’s taking longer to recover because he doesn’t do as much (drink warm liquids, for one) to keep the symptom under control.
Gonna try working a bit today, because television is getting to be enough.
Should test to see if I’m still positive. Not sure what’ll I do if I’m still positive - I’m hoping for a light case (which it is), that doesn’t cause too much additional inconvenience.
I do love these descriptions. I know many companies have standard box sizes, and others decide to customize everything. For shipping, standards definitely help. Same for envelopes.
Standards can be boring, though.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 with rain predicted for later this mornin’ and the rest of the day. There’s a big blob of dark green headed toward us accordin’ to the radar, so we shall see. Fine by me if’n it rains all day. I have nowhere I want or need to go, so I’ll be happy to stay inside and dry. Sup shall be tacos’n fixin’s with rice and refried beans. OLÉ! Fartfest to follow.
Hope all you sick mumpers and spouses are feelin’ better today.
Nellie glad you had a good visit with your son and the doggies.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 17c/62f with a predicted high of 20c68f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking mint outside, which is great, unless you’re a cat. Cats hate that shit.” Well, it’s been raining all morning so our mogs are snoozing. Spare Cat was in late last night but hasn’t put in an appearance today so hopefully he’s tucked up somewhere keeping his paws dry.
I’m irking from home today, nothing exciting in my day to tell you about which is a relief because I can do without workplace drama at the moment. I am tired and really just Don Twanna.
Big hugs to all the sickies out there, mumpers and families included.
OMG, I so needed this laugh this morning!!
Something under 6 hours of sleep augmented with a bizarre and somewhat disturbing dream - I don’t think even caffeine will help me this morning.
I’m not a Luddite by any means, but I do believe too many people rely too much on technology without a backup plan. When we were without power for 2 days several years back, I was surprised how much our routines changed - no TV, no web, no cooking, no water (we’re on a well, sooooo…) The weirdest part was how very very dark it was at night - no ambient glow from nightlights or neighbor’s security lights,
And I’ll not rant again about all those warning alarms and automatic brakes in cars - or how people should absolutely not rely on them, dammit. Keep alert and maintain control of your vehicle!
As far as I know, SIL is going to work today. We all got on him last night about drinking more water, and he promises to do so. The big dummy… So he’ll be here within the half-hour with his male-spawn, and the fun begins again. I’m so glad it’s my last day with the kidlets. They flat wear me out. I hope I don’t regret taking them to Mom’s next week - I guess we shall see.
We’re in for a hot, humid, and mostly rainless stretch thru next Thurs - ugh. I think we’ll need to try mowage tomorrow morning - if only riding John Deere around the back yard. The grass is getting too high for Higgs to squat! OK, there are enough bald spots to accommodate her, but the preferred areas are very grassy.
Anyway, just need to get thru today, and I’m already planning to sleep with Mel tonight. Beyond that, who knows??
Happy Thursday!!
Morning all. Woke up at 2am, said many bad words, and slept until the 5:30am bladder call, then back into the sack until 8am…so I should be caught up. Not much on the agenda today, some gym work and soccer (weather permitting–30% chance of storms). Maybe a little shopping.
Oh, and a check I sent to Drs. Without Borders back in Mid-June just got cashed. Was wondering about cancelling it, but the bank charges a fee for that and since nobody had cashed it…well, at least my account finally balances.
Shoe, I have seen the Grand Canyon…twice…and I will say it is a breathtaking demonstration of the power of water. Seriously, if life gives you a chance to see it, take the opportunity. It’s one of my 3-4 fondest memories of places I have been fortunate enough to see on this planet. (that goes for all y’all).
FCM, glad SIL is OK, but hydration is critical, so hope he has learned his lesson.
Haven’t got that far yet; probably so, if I do it I’ll go for the best. Hope the internet fades back in for you.
Had something like that years ago when a Class V tornado blew down all the high-tension power lines; without power for a week, glad I had my books with me, but it was different…
OK, need to finish the morning internettin’ and be about the day. Take care all.
