Smarter minds and, uh, butts in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! Been a dreary day here in swampland but not near as rainy as predicted. No worries cause it was a nice day for the usual sloth and general overall uselessness we prefer. Sup got fixed and et and fartfest now ensues.

talky what everybody else said. Go to your meetin’. Your mom and sis have got this one.

Nellie if M is not returnin’ your calls, then go over her head. If she claims to return calls within twenty-four hours and hasn’t, then it’s on her.

DH says he’s feeling better than he did yesterday (I think he spent 90% of yesterday sleeping), but still has virtually no audible voice.

My sore throat has migrated from mostly left side to mostly right side. Shining a flashlight into my mouth showed a red area on the uvula, and I can feel something at the back of my tongue that feels almost like blisters. My throat keeps getting quite dry, so I’m downing a lot of liquid to soothe that.

I’ve had three negative Covid tests in the last three days. I did verify that all the iHealth ones I had were still within date, and one of the ones I’ve used recently came from the same box as the one that came up positive for DH. He’s floated the theory he might have had two false positives Tuesday, since I have the same symptoms (mine being a good deal milder). I very much doubt that.

Changing the adhesive strip on the cardiac event monitor was not the most comfortable project, but needed to be done, since I’d had that one on for eight days. Gotta give the manufacturer points for some seriously good adhesive, but I’m still dubious about just how waterproof this is, even though the manual assures me that normal showering/bathing is safe. Sponge baths have been adequate for the last week, not sure if that’ll still be the case for another three weeks. The monitor is also a problem when driving, since it doesn’t play terribly nicely with the shoulder belt.

Yay, I’m getting new blinds on the 30th! No pull cords! It’s just push and pull. The guy looked at me pointedly and said I might have trouble reaching that high. I told him we shrimps learn to stretch like Gumby.

My sister suggested I go to the eye clinic in person to talk to Melissa, so I’m going to try that. While there, I’ll ask her what’s the best way to reach her. (Translation: How do I get you to answer your phone/call me back?) Hopefully I won’t get all the way over there to find she’s on vacation or something. If she’s not there, though, maybe that’d be a good time to talk with her supe? I could say, “Sorry to bother you, but I came because I can’t get any info over the phone…”

My hands feel somewhat better, and so does my stomach. I’m going to brave the heat and head to the gym. Then I’m back on dog-walking duty. My friend’s incision got infected, so she can’t do it. I’m happy to help!

Bumba, I agree with the unbeatable team of Boo and shoe. No guilt necessary.

nettie, is it possible hubs has COVID and both of you have another infection as well? I agree with you on the unlikelihood of false positives. Whatever it is, hope it goes away pronto. You have too much to deal with as it is. How much longer will you have to do the cardiac event monitor?

{{{{wordy}}}

Glad that you had a good visit with your son and the dogs nellie.

Irked, dogparked, napped and have a little reddish dog on my lap.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

That seems to be my BFF’s plan as well, LOL!

This whole internet thing is getting kinda irritating. We live out in the sticks because we can’t live in big cities. We bought here because we thought that it was time for us to live on a road that not only had a name, but was paved AND had mail delivery.

The low taxes and property values didn’t hurt either, we were able to by twice the home we could have in town. We moved in knowing that the internet and phone services weren’t good because the we didn’t have the infrastructure that big cities have.

So many folks have recently moved out this way with no clue except that they could get a really nice place for half of what it would cost in the Valley. Usually they bitch because there isn’t anything for the kids to do (which is true) and that the schools are all at least half an hour away (also true) and that there are no grocery stores close by.

Now all the whining is about the internet and lack thereof.

It’s like they all moved next to a pig farm and are now realizing that it smells. Grumble, snarl. All of them need to get off my lawn, goshdarnit!

But don’t do them in the same day, or even the same week if possible to avoid overshadowing.

I’m going to repeat my offer to all. I love taking folks to the Grand Canyon and I’d be thrilled to show off the Meteor Crater, so contact me next time you are out this way and we can get awestruck together!

Before I could head to the gym, a friend called to have a catch-up chat. Then my young friend called to ask if I could start dog-walking again, as she’s developed an infection (woman, not dog). So I got out of here later, but I did 40 minutes on the treadmill–not nearly what I did pre-infusion, but not bad, I thought. MetalMouse and flyboy are my inspirations.

I’m envious. Pass 'im over, wouldja? Or just give scritches from one of his many fans.

That is so sweet of you! I’ll probably never get down there, but it’s heartwarming to know, nonetheless. If another Doper takes you up on it, I hope we get photos!

Up from naptime. Made Italian Chicken with orzo for dinner, with a martini.

It happens a lot. The bees, not so much.

I have a gray cat in mine.

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and the Redheaded Girl provided supper, so all that is left is to head off for bed here in a little bit.

Sounds like a perfect day to me.

nellie, congrats on the new blinds. And just put on the charm with Melissa, I’m sure that will do the trick.

Seanette, hope both you and husband-unit get to feelin’ better soon.

And off to bed I go…

Move over day Mumpers, the Night Walkers are in the house. We can do everything you do but we can do it in the dark :milky_way::new_moon::waxing_crescent_moon::milky_way:and in high heels :high_heel::high_heel:(well, at least one of us can and I ain’t telling who that is)

Today I had a doctor’s appointment then chemo #5.

My numbers are awesome!!! They said one more chemo treatment then surgery about a month later. They work with a woman who lines up the surgeon and the date. It will be laparoscopic so easier on my body.

The tumor marker (whatever that is) was 298 before my first chemo or radiation treatment. It’s now 21. This is apparently outstanding.

All my numbers from the blood draw are in the normal range, except I’m mildly anemic which she assured me is normal. No wonder I m tired. My father is pushing liver. No. No no no.

The doctor is ecstatic for me; she told me she expected I would be in hospice by this time as I started in Stage 3.

I am still refusing to look anything up as I don’t want to read horror stories or outdated medical information.

Me either. I could not be anemic enough to eat liver. Just talk to your pharmacist and ask her to recommend the best tolerated iron supplement, there is a wide range to choose from, some much more palatable than others.

Well, Snookie passed on today, and the security certificate issue has been fixed–it was a screwup on the part of the hosting company. So if anyone wants to leave their condolences there’s no problem with your browser getting upset.

I’m really sad. I have Snookie gifts all over my house and his smiling face never fails to cheer me up. Getting old is not for the faint of heart, things keep…happening.

if you dont like liver … try pork braunschweiger I recommend the aldis brand since its imported lol

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Will things break? Will we be shorthanded? will there be LIVE BEES? Stay tuned for updates!

Yay!

Ewwwww.

Awwwww. :frowning:

Doctor wanted it for 30 days, which started on the 17th. Can’t rule out that both of us caught something else to keep his plague company.

Sadly I have no Aldis near me. I think there is one in Phoenix but I hate driving in Phoenix.

The sad thing is I like braunschweiger but I can’t get past the fact that it’s made of liver.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 88 along with rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. We shall see. We have decided we shall have N.O.L. at the hog trough Golden Corral just cause. My big cause is that I want fried chikin, but don’t want to fry it myself. Other than that, major sloth shall ensue especially if’n it is stormy. Inside and dry is always a good thing.

Nettie hope you figure out what’s ailin’ you soonest.

kitap fantastic news! I hope it just keeps gettin’ better and better. I like liver but never make it cause OYKW is squicked out by the very thought. Fortunately I know a couple of places that make good liver ‘n onions when the gnawin’ and cravin’ hits me. Iron supplements are a good idea.

Nellie yay on the new fancy blinds.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR NNNEEETTTIIIEEE!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Firday Y’all!

:raised_hands: :raised_hands: :clinking_glasses: :fireworks: :fireworks: :fireworks: :tada: :tada:

Incidentally, your username makes me visualize a tapdancing kitten.

Happy nettie Day!!

I popped a melatonin around 8 last night, then sat watching TV till 9. Within minutes of donning my nightshirt and crawling under the covers, I was unconscious. My bladder woke me once, and as I lay back down wondering how long I’d be awake, I fell back to sleep till after 6. I  Mel!!

In theory, mowage will occur today. I’d originally intended to pop out of bed, don grubbies, and take the gas cans to WaWa and fill them. As you can see (or could see if I had a web cam) I’m at my computer in my robe and slippers, sipping an iced Diet Coke, so that intention went by the wayside. Oh, I will go get gas and we will mow, but what’s the rush? We’re retired! OK, actually the rush is to beat the heat…

Apart from emptying the dishwasher and pushing the vacuum cleaner around, I have no other plans yet. I’ll probably vacuum the basement, and I should clean the terlit down there while I’m at it. In fact, I’ll haul all the dirties down to the laundry room - I’m sure we’ve accumulated a couple of loads. Sounds like I have a plan of sorts.

FCD plans to finish the water system upgrade unit for the boat. After he removes the old stuff, we’ll paint the shelf where the new system will go - um, I’ll paint the shelf, that is. Which means the installation will probably wait till Sunday. We’ll see.

Tomorrow, Roxy has her first gymnastics class - wish I could see it, but aside from having stuff to do, I think they’re still restricting how many observers can be present. Even if not, I do have stuff to do…

But for now, chillage is in order. Happy Firday!!

**Happy Nettie Day"" :birthday: :champagne:

Afternoon, mumpers! Today it’s 18c/65f with a predicted high of 20c/69f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is pretty fucking stupid” but I’m happy with it. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be like this too.

Busy day chasing around for exam and coursework marks so we can start getting things in order for our September exam board. The good news is that I’m on leave for both the scrutiny and board meetings so aside from doing the prep work, I don’t have any other responsibilities there. I’m doing everyone a favour but putting marks in, and doing all the checking so they don’t have to do the boring bits.

It’s actually the Turkish word for book. I took 4 semesters of it.

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I just needed to get my happiness out.
