Snow is a 4-letter word in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 44 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 58 and N.O.S.(ish) for the day. It’s laundry day, huzzah! Also I need to go pick up a ‘script so I shall venture out this mornin’ to do so. Since I must do that, I think I shall also brave a trip to :open_mouth: Wally*World :open_mouth: as well. Sup shall be country fried steak 'n gravy, peas 'n butterbeans 'n okra cooked together, smashed N.O.T. and rolls. The need for some comfort food is upon us.

As to my attire for last night, it was jeans, a pullover long sleeved shirt, and sneaks. I also wore a tshirt, underwear and socks. Now y’all know.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, bother, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Woe!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

The Jungle Elves were busy overnight. My treadmill is supposedly loaded on the truck for delivery today. And the toys I ordered for my nephew are supposed to arrive on Firday via USPS - I’m guessing Saturday, but as long as it’s before Moanday, it’s good.

Frosty outside this morning - 26°F! Higgs didn’t dawdle, as you might expect. The pellet stove has the common areas nice and cozy, but our bedroom was less warm. FCD actually turned on his side of the blanket! He’s still snoozing - I even closed the curtains on the east side of the room to keep the eventual sun out. Meanwhile, I’m breakfasting.

I’ll be taking a small peach french toast casserole to Daughter’s for Christmas breakfast. She’s going to make biscuits and gravy, monkey bread, and a fruit platter - we’re pretty much going to graze brunch-like till they’re ready to go to his mom’s place.

Roxy is getting 2 tricycles this year. One will live at Grandma’s (not me, the other one) and one will be at home. She has a 4-wheeler here that I know she’ll love once she figures out the steering part. She’s also getting a kitchen playset from my bro - it’s been delivered and I’m supposed to babysit while her parents assemble it - not sure when, tho.

FCD got her a small aquarium which is already set up and has 2 small fish so far. It’s a fresh water setup - daughter doesn’t want to deal with salt water and I don’t blame her. Roxy loves it, as do the cats.

That kid’s getting so much stuff, they need to shop for a bigger house now! OK, some of it will live in our basement - I’m going to fix up a Roxy corner where she can be as messy as she wants and I don’t have to worry about carpets.

Which brings me to today - organization of the basement shall begin. I’m thinking I’ll wear work gloves just to protect my owie finger. It’s looking good, but it’s still tender, and I expect it’d bleed with little encouragement. So bandaid and gloves it shall be. Eventually. I’ve still got comics to read.

Happy Tuesday!!

I went to bed last night at 9:30, which is kind of a record for me when I’m not sick. I woke up this morning feeling delightfully energetic and peaceful. I’m chugging coffee, had breakfast. Chilling. Read my email. Another friend has cancer (breast cancer). Because 2020 is a damn dirty skidmark.

That’s awesome. Kids should be exposed to all kinds of nature & critters, especially underwater life they wouldn’t otherwise see.

My goal is to finish as many of my Xmas packages as I can, then brave the P.O. and get them sent on their merry way.

There’s also a farmer’s market nearby, that may or may not be open today, and if they are, there may or may not be someone with currant jam, because I’m hunting for that for my mom because I have no earthly idea what else to get the woman.

I’d like to do that first, but I really shouldn’t put off the post office. Argh, woe is unto me!

Morning all. Slept in till nearly 8am and had my Instant Breakfast and a banana. Have balanced my accounts and looks like I should have about $160 more than planned, which will fit nicely in my wallet. Temperature is 35F heading for 50F but rain due tonight and tomorrow.

Nothing much on the schedule, do have a couple loads of laundry that need doing this week, but still have a couple days underwear so no rush…

FCM, hope the treadmill makes it. I have a couple pair of slippers (courtesy of Thel’s suggestion coming via Brown and due tomorrow or Thorsday. We’ll see what makes it first.

Dice, nothing like early morning exercise…to encourage afternoon naps…

swampy, glad you survived the meeting. Used to be part of the youth soccer board here–made it through three years of meetings and gave up.

nellie, no reason for the date, just seemed like a good time to pick…but looks like it could be close. And glad the eyes are doing better.

Ok, need to be somewhat active. Dishes need to be put away from the washer and the granite countertops in the bathroom haven’t been cleaned in quite a while, so I will write them down and that will magically make me do things…

All y’all take care.

The Hub BossTM worked last night, so he found exta work for us. We loaded a bunch of bags on a truck, unloaed the bags, and after they had been sorted, we loaded those bags onto another truck. I do not wish to see another bag again(unless it’s full of free money).

Nifty aquarium, FCM. Bet you could trade some of your CDs to Flytrap for some fish. Check that they are alive, and not just sardines out of a can from the Dollar Sto. :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought a pair of Sorel Caribous around 1990 or so. Still have them, though I’ve replaced the liners at least once over the past 30 years.

They’re warm, comfortable, cushy, and waterproof… though a bit clunky.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s been nice and sunny here all day, now it’s getting closer to time for me to head to the supermarket and the rain clouds are gathering.

Mooooom I predict the treadmill will make it to the end of your street and then decide it’s too late for delivery, and have to travel about a hundred miles away to find a place to stay for the night. I am having the opposite issue with Da Jungle, and I’m wondering how Doggio has managed to influence the UK and EU versions. I pre-ordered a book, and got two copies (passed one on to a friend), then I ordered a CD for 'im indoors for xmas which they failed to delivery because unlike any other courier or postie on the planet, this one couldn’t locate my address. Item was returned to the supplier and I was supposed to get a refund. So I re-ordered the CD, got it in a couple of days, and then today a second one turned up. Or was this the original making a return visit? Who knows?

nut get out of work as quickly as possible and keep your head down! If they haven’t got anyone vaguely suitable for the post, but they’re keen to fill it quickly, do not be on the end of the phone when someone suggests you could fill in temporarily…I took on team management temporarily about three years ago!

Dice I have my gym sessions booked at 7am, good time to go as the place is fairly quiet and I get home in time for a quick shower before I sit here and log in for work. And I get to feel virtuous all day. This week, I’ve got a slot at 8am because covid has pushed my trainer into taking a second job which doesn’t finish until 1am so I want her to get some sleep first.

Irk continues to be irksome, I keep finding problems with our January assessment plans which generally revolve around things nobody else has thought of, that just happen to end up in one of my inboxes. Then I have to think about them and solve the problem for everyone else. I hope they’re all taking notice for next time.

As if that’s not enough joyousness for one day, we should get our tier structure reviewed tomorrow by our illustrious leader, Bogbrush de Pfeffel. I have a socially distanced gig booked for Friday night which I doubt will go ahead either way, and a haircut at 9am on Saturday which should still go ahead unless he and his cronies have a collective brainfart about it.

Enjoy your day, people!

In keeping with the thread topic (ha!) – we’re supposed to get some snow here Wednesday afternoon into evening.

Back off topic, because that’s what we do around here:

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I really appreciate them.

So, for those following along with the excitement that is my life: last Friday we had our office holiday party via Zoom. It was fun and worked better than I thought it would. I actually drank wine during and after the party – too much wine, heck, the whole damn bottle! It’s important to note that I rarely drink anything and I know that I have a low tolerance for alcohol – I was quite drunk. Fortunately, FWB called, recognized the situation and came over. He made me drink water and take Ibuprofen. Around 9:00 p.m., I decided that it would be a most excellent idea for me to drive to a grocery store to get bread – just to see if I could drive. FWB wouldn’t let me near my car keys. I then suggested that he should drive – because I decided it would be a most excellent time for me to teach him to drive a stick shift and, hey, then I wouldn’t be doing the driving! He didn’t let me do that either.

He stayed over to make sure I was OK in the morning. I was better than OK.
[FCM clutches pearls and faints]

Afternoon? It’s eight in the ayem, and I’ve only been in the orifice for an hour!

Lunch break! Much progress is being made in the basement, and I have a plan of attack for another couple of hours. I did something that caused my finger to bleed a little, but for the moment, it’s unbandaged and unbleeding. I’ll rewrap it before I get started again.

doggio - no flytrap fish swap - he does saltwater fishies, daughter is doing fresh. There’s a ton of difference in the work required to maintain each type, plus saltwater fish tend to be $$$.

MissHussy - I’m not fainting or clutching pearls. I’m just very, very disappointed. :stuck_out_tongue:

OK, I need to get re-motivated…

As a February baby, I’m pretty used to that… My mother used to say she wished February would just disappear from the calendar, which was a little harsh, IMO.

I’m not concerned about being stitched up with my boss’s job- I’d probably be the last person in the department considered for it. Still hoping to get out of there soon though. The fact that I was doing better financially working as a part-time waitress is just the icing on the cake. It looks like a better job on paper, that’s literally all the place has going for it at the moment.

@Filbert

Your mom had a valid observation about February. I’ve been on an anti-February campaign for years.

Despite what the numbers on the calendar say, February is the LONGEST month of the year. Part of the problem is that all the “stars-in-the-eyes” spending for Christmas finally lands on your plate in February. One of those times there is far more month than money!

February is when we all are damned tired of winter. The romance of snow has ended. In February, snow is dirty, icy, and damned cold. You feel like you’ll never be warm again! All the decorations have been put away, and the whole world is dreary and depressing.

Yes, let’s just do away with February!

~VOW

I’m done downstairs for today. Moved a lot of stuff, emptied one set of shelves that now needs to be disassembled and taken to FCD’s shop, and found a bunch of stuff that’s going on Marketplace, since we don’t need it. And I just scooped the cat box and swept the area around it. I’ll push the vacuum cleaner around in a bit, then I think it’s time for the next episode of The Crown. I earned it.

No more bloodshed - huzzah! All in all, I declare it to have been a productive 4 hours or so.

Afternoon, people. And isn’t it a lovely afternoon? Clear, sunny, the trash has been picked up and my seniors absolutely rocked their finals today! Well, 1st and 2nd periods did. The rest go tomorrow. I hate online testing so they had Final Projects instead. Very creative and fun. For a subject that can be so very dry they really got creative. We saw a “Trickle-Down Economics” sculpture, listened to some reworked Hall & Oates songs done to an economic theme, examined paintings that represented the Laffer Curve and so much more. Not bad for a bunch of 17 year olds stuck at home with their siblings all day. Even my cats got into the act.

Had a loose meat sandwich for lunch (Maid Rite!) and now I’m kicking back and wasting the rest of the day engaging in sloth, with maybe a side serving of gluttony later on this evening.

Woohoo! My treadmill just arrived!

I got through quite a lot of closet shelf reorganizing yesterday and am dealing with the fallout today: you know, the little things you’ll keep but have to find a new home for. And now I’m eyeing a couple other closets. I shall shortly leave to mail a card and get some produce.

So on the 7th, I shipped via UPS a big box to my daughter who lives several hours from me. The counter clerk said it’d probably arrive by the 16th. I tracked it today, and it was delivered on the 8th! Nice work, doggio! (I’m going to credit St. Doggio of UPS for all good things UPS but won’t, of course, blame him for any screw-ups.) I was puzzled, though, as my daughter said two days ago that she’d text when it arrived. Mystery solved: her husband brought it in and forgot to mention it to her. They’re moving in a few days, so the confusion is understandable.

You know, some people would regard that as proof stitches would have been wise. Yay for the treadmill delivery!

OW, I’m getting to like your FWB more and more. Glad you had hangover-free friendly frolics, too.

Nut ‘n’ Die (Sounds like Charles’ response to Diana asking him what he’d been up to with Camilla.), the months are still bad. Your arrivals simply gave people the uplift needed to get through them.

34 out, with a predicted low of 15. 100% chance of snow the next couple days – there’s a winter storm watch from 1400 Wodensday until 1300 Thorsday, and they’re now saying to expect 7-13 inches.

FedEx dropped off a mystery package from a liquor store, addressed to me, this afternoon. Very interesting…

The library has reopened – for lobby pickup only. They say this nonsense will continue until 11 Jan. :frowning: :frowning: Did get the one book I had on hold, but I’m going to be placing holds on a few more…

Damn near hit it on the mark (guessed 2:30pm today).

Not much to report, did take a long hot bath and then cleaned the bathroom so as to avoid nappage, but nothing much else.

quietly, I think that the student’s projects show that their teacher rocks too…

I concur that February is 28 days that last 60, but we have to stick something on the calendar for that time, so I guess we’re stuck with it.

OW, it’s good to have friends…with our without benefits…

OK, on with whatever it is I was doing.

We had a potluck at the orifice today. I’m not sure why. (It was in an email, but I can’t be arsed to look for it.) Since I’m still trying to maintain a low-carb diet, I went to Trader Joe’s for my usual Cobb salad. I picked up a cartoonery… chartreusery… cured meats assortment that came with olives and cheese too. I also got a tray of pepperoni-and-mozzarella and prosciutto-and-mozzarella spirals, and a container of Triple Ginger Snaps. (Alas, the snaps were for sharing.)

El Jefe also brought a cartoonery… chartreusery… cured meats tray. I had some of his Italian cheese and meats, and some of some of my Italian meats and cheese. There was fried chicken, and I grabbed a thigh. (A chicken thigh, you pervs!) Shouldn’t have, but did.

You’d think that’s enough, but one of my cow-orkers smoked some deadpig. HUGE chops on the bone. Definitely keto!

And I had my Monster Ultra Zero. I didn’t touch my Cobb salad. I guess I’ll take it home for dinner.
