Pizza for supper just because. I had to run to Was a for cash since this pizza joint doesn’t take debit cards. Dammit. So waiting for delivery now.
That sounds amazing Johnny imma bit jealous.
Ribs, not chops.
Like these:
Pork Rib Roast (cooksinfo.com)
He smoked them for four hours. Tender enough to cut with a fork.
Hey, you’re doing much better than I am. My packages aren’t even organized yet, much less ready for shipping. Hope my secret Doper Santa exchange giftee out there is patient. My heart is willing but often my brain ain’t with the program. Traumatic brain injuries are like that. I don’t recommend them.
UGH! PWAISDN scheduled Christmas Eve dinner with his housemate, mother, and me at 6PM on a day I work until 5. And I’m supposed to help cook? At his house. “Aren’t you getting out early?” Probably not, they haven’t done that for a couple of years.
Double UGH! I’ve got a surgeon suggesting I need a piece of colon removed due to the stealthy diverticulitis. Current plan is to sit tight and re-check in February with the parallel hopes that the bad stuff has gotten better, and if not, that the hospitals aren’t swamped like they are now. Our ICUs are at 15.6% capacity, and at 15% the region goes into lockdown, which means PWAISDN will be completely out of work again, probably by Thursday.
Sorry your gut is giving you hell -hope the surgery delay gives it time to straighten itself out. And hope it doesn’t come to that for PWAISDN.
Howdy Y’all! Been a pretty bzzzy day here. Laundry got laundered, 'script got picked up, trip to Wally*World
accomplished, we early voted (could do this this afternoon at our local precinct even!), sup got cooked and et up, and dishes all done. Not quite as active as MOOOOOOM but way active for us.
MOOOOOOM yay for treadmill finally comin’ home!
gotti UGH! to all of that. Here’s hopin’ that you don’t end up needin’ surgery and that stuff calms down soonest what with the vaccine and all. I intend to get shot just as soon as they decide it’s all the free roamin’ geezers time.
flyboy all that sounds yum! I’d have been all over those ribs!
quietly good for the students and for you!
Miss_Owl fwb is also a wise one. Glad you had a good time durin’ and after the virtual partay.
Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies and how you doin’s all around, as needed.
I’ll likely be posting less for at least the near future, which may come as a relief for those of you who have put up with my blather since 2003. Anyway, I’ve had instances of ocular migraines off and on for the last 30 years, usually infrequently. During this pandemic, I’ve been spending a LOT of time on the internet, watching series, series, etc. Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a sudden marked increase in these attacks. Yesterday, it was not fun, as I not only had the flashy, zig-zaggy crap, but had another bout of aphasia to go with it and then a lingering headache for several hours. Since bright lights and too much computer gazing aggravates the condition, I’ve got to lay off. So that’s my story.
shoe, I had rain guards on my first S10 pick up. Since I was a smoker back then, I appreciated them.
I’m sorry about your friend’s diagnosis wordy
I can just about guess which Hall and Oates song was chosen by your student silenus.
Glad the treadmill finally made it to your house Mooooooom. The aquarium looks cool too.
Irked and it looks like there will be more OT before E0Y. I’m getting too old for this crap. Fortunately, I can see the end in sight.
Once KP is done, I’ll be working on the latest studio project again.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Have you asked your doctor if trephination may be right for you?
Take care. Hope everything turns out well…
Sorry to cookie and gotti for your health woes. Damn, it’s always something, ain’t it?
gotti, I’ve worked on holidays and holiday eves off and on for years, and it’s funny how people assume I’ll magically get out early just because. My stock response is “go ahead and start without me.” Then I usually take my sweet time showering and changing, just to get a little quiet time to myself. I hope you don’t get roped into cooking for a crowd after a full day of irk. (Sorry, I don’t know who PWAISDN is, or what the repercussions would be if you decline to help him cook.)
I don’t believe I’ll hit 12,000 steps today, but at least I’ll get over 10,000. I’ve been feeling quite logy all day and unmotivated to move. 9,813 at quarter to six, and I’ve had to fight for that.
I walked to the store. It’s one I stopped going to early in the Plague because it’s too crowded, both with items and people. Also, it’s a longer walk, 1.3 instead of 1.0 miles. It was like returning to one of my old neighborhoods: “Oh, yeah,THAT’S where the cheese is!” and “Oh, I see they moved the cucumbers!”
I forgot to check to see if they have pork neck bones. The closer grocery store doesn’t. I use them in spaghetti sauce. Mom’s family was dirt poor in sunny Italy, and that’s what they used, so that’s how I learned to make sauce. It’s wonderful. However, apparently it’s unfashionably ethnic (as opposed to, say, pho, which is fashionably ethnic), so it’s hard to come by. A Vietnamese friend can get it for me at a Vietnamese grocery store in Tacoma, but I doubt he’s going before Christmas. Oh, well, once upon a time, I couldn’t get ricotta because the Montana town I lived in had never heard of it. (“Rick-what now?”) I asked around. Nobody was Italian, so they all used–gag–cottage cheese or ground beef alone–in their lasagna.
Harald, did you OPEN the mystery package? I’m curious as to what it is.
MetalMouse, you win the pool! You don’t win A pool, but you win THE pool! Congrats on The Jean Dixon Award for Clairvoyance!
100% agree. You’re obviously the teachers all parents wish their kids had. Kudos!
Johnny, I’m a swooning carnivore upon reading your posts.
Boo and Shoe, people getting gifts later get to celebrate
Chrismahanukwanzakah longer.
wordy, I hope sitting tight avoids the need for surgery. My late former MIL had 1/4th of her color removed, whereupon my FIL said, “Now she’s got a semi-colon.” Sorry about PWAISDN’s job.
NObody’s as active as Mooooooom. She has superpowers. Set your sights on us regular humans.
cookie, a HUGE thank you. I also get ocular migraines. I had no idea internet usage had any connection. I shall be vigilant henceforth.
P.S. We’ll miss you. Please check in, however briefly.
Sucks to be them. Especially since you’ll “have to leave work late” you poor thing. Just late enough to let you decompress in peace, alone.
Even if it has to be in the parking lot of your choice.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort IOt is cold outside.
He need that like he needs a hole in the head.
{{{{Cookie}}}} Post when it doesn’t hurt.
Have you used your treadmill yet, FCM?
Miss_Owl, good for FWB for looking out for you.
It’s sitting on the shelf along with the Amazon package that came last week. (That one’s from my daughter, and is undoubtedly a book – probably one of the 300-odd on my wishlist.) Presumably it’s meant as an Xmas gift, so I’m not going to open it until next week. In the meantime, I’m going to sit and look at the “CONTAINS ALCOHOL – ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED” label on the side of it…
Would’ve been better with BBQ sauce, but it was tasty. I really couldn’t finish it, it was so big. But I did.
Would you like to raid my freezer nellie? I have some smoked neckbones in there for seasoning greens and beans. When I get them, I package them in seasoning sized bags before they get frozen. Around here, they’re a staple for soul food and other southern cuisine. One of the grocery stores that I occasionally shop at always has them, along with oxtails, chitlins and hog maws. In the right hands, most of that list can be turned into food of the gods.
I hope your doctor is aware of this! Especially with the escalation and the aphasia, seems that professional input is called for.
Not sure what fridge occupant is going to wind up in my stomach, but probably not chicken soup. Had that for lunch. Beef pot roast vs. pseudo-Asian shredded pork. Hmmmm. Already had an appetizer, maple creme Oreos.
By the time I caught up to DH, I was feeling very peopled out, so hung out in the car for about 20 minutes until he was off. Temperature was acceptable and a little solitude was needed. Hades Annex was cold enough today that most of us were wearing jackets most of the day, and I was having problems with fingers getting a bit stiff (which makes typing a chore).
Love this~
. Gonna remember it for my late secret holiday exchange packages.
cookie. Hope the head calms down tout suite and you can rejoin the never-ending Mumper party. {{{{ til then }}}}
I would love to raid your freezer for pork neck bones! When I lived in Wyoming, I was able to find them occasionally at Wally World because there was a not-insignificant Hispanic population in nearby towns. My sister, who lives in the Deep South, can find them. A lot of Italian food has been discovered by the mainstream (and sometimes adapted in horrific ways. (Yes, I’m looking at you, Hawaiian pizza eaters, and so are Hawaiians.). I remember when I talked about Mom’s focaccia and non-Italians had no clue what I was talking about. Now it’s everywhere. Maybe pork neck bones will follow suit.
