Snow is a 4-letter word in the MMP

Huh. There’s apparently something wrong with Discourse. Echoes of the old board!

Supposedly in “read-only” mode. So let me try this out.

Well, that looks to me like it posted.

I got my 12,000 steps after all. Mrs W was on a mission to make her goal (11,000), so that motivated me to get up and join her. Quite a sight we must have been, marching around the house for no apparent reason.

Dinner was chicken soup and crackers since we had big sammiches for lunch.
My life is so exciting these days.

Depends on what you were, or weren’t, wearing I suppose.

Boo, your imagination is much more salacious than reality, I’m afraid.

All my life people have said it’s because I read too much. Probably true but I ain’t gonna change at this stage of the game. Kudos on you and your beloved getting your steps in.

At least if you are going crazy, you know you have company. :hugs:

Work is crazy and the weather is gray with bits of sunshine.

We got a multi-cooker, but the smallest amount of rice we’re allowed to make is more than we want for one meal. So yesterday I made more (should have added a touch more water) and today I’m using it for fried rice. This might become a habit. Not a bad one, since pasta and I are not the best of friends.

Gotta go start laundry - I’m even going to wash the mattress cover today. Big news!

Yes, I need to get out more. So what.

Stay safe!

PWAISDN is my Partner Without An Interesting Straight Dope Name, a play on swampy’s ACBG (A Certain Bearded Gentleman) or OYKW (Old You Know Who)

The repercussions would be unthinkable. :scream:

That won’t work as he knows where I work. It happens to be the place where I live, so no hiding in parking lots. The stupid thing is that I know there’s going to be nothing to do that day, but we don’t get time off for good behavior. Someone might need to transmit a large wire at 4:45!

Up stupid early. I have to get fasting bloodwork this morning, so I’ll probably just stay up. After, I need to run into Food Lion for some stuff, plus diet coke is on sale. Wonder if the rain has started??

doggio - no, I haven’t assembled the treadmill yet, but it’s on today’s agenda. I ran out of motivation last night.

I need to give one section of the basement a good sweep and I’d like to spread the hunk of carpet down there to see if it will lie flat. It’s been rolled up in the attic for at least 16 years…

Healthy wishes to all who need them - glad none of us have Plague, but lesser evils are still unwanted, so feel better, dammit!

Happy Wednesday to all and to all a good day!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 55 and rain for the day. ICK! I have an eight o’clock appointment for an echocardiogram this mornin’ at the horsepistol. They tell me I shall be in and out within an hour. We shall see. On the plus side, I can park in the parkin’ garage and walk over to where I need to be without bein’ outside. I “pre-registered” on Moanday so allegedly I can just walk right in and get stuff goin’. I believe that just like I believe there are fluffy unicorns prancin’ in my back yahd. OYKW shall make a run to the Pubic Sto’ for some provisions as his joy of the day. Sup shall be salmon patties, peas, smashed N.O.T. and bizkits cause the need for comfort food continues to be strong.

cookie do what you need to do for you, but do check in occasionally, OK?

Nellie and red neck bones are a must for things like seasonin’ green beans and so forth. Oxtails cooked in French onion soup are a food of the Gods!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, woe, dismay, and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. This will be the fourth day in a row I am forced to leave da cave and brave the public. Why must my life be so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

And now I’m up, showered, dressed, and hydrating so the phlebotomist can get to my one good vein easily. Critters have been tended to and I’ve got an alarm set so I can be close to the front of the line since labs are first-come, etc. I even managed to get the dishwasher emptied and started on refilling.

Rain hasn’t started yet, but we’ve already got flood watch/warning/whatever set. It’s been a soggy year here in southern Merrylande.

And I have been bled - I was first in, and out within 5 minutes - YAY! Then a quick stop at Food Lion and now I’m home. My last package was left on my porch while I was gone - I wasn’t expecting it till Firday, so huzzah! It’s the last gift and once it’s wrapped, I’s done! WOOHOO!!!

Time for breakfast, caffeine, then more manual labor.

Afternoon, mumpers! Yes, flyboy, it’s just after 2pm here on a very soggy and grey afternoon. Been raining most of the day so I am happy not to have to venture outside today. We braved the supermarket yesterday evening, the guy on the door checking numbers was the friendly one so we exchanged pleasantries. Groceries were acquired, said goodbye to the same chappie on the way out, and paused to fuss supermarket cat.

So far today I’ve had two meetings and a skype call, dealt with a bunch of problems, fixed things for a bunch of people and now I have yet more miracles to perform. I also remembered that we have family and friends with birthdays between now and year end so cards have been written and will go in the post tomorrow.

Talking of tomorrow, it’s my day off in order use up my paid leave (I still have 10 days and almost 70hrs owed which will carry over to next year) then back in on Friday for the last day before campus shuts down until January. No plans for the day apart from posting birthday cards and going to the gym where I shall no doubt be channelling moooom on a treadmill for a while.

My lovely DJ friend has sent me his show that will be broadcast on Rock Radio UK tonight so I’m listening to it now. Had a bumper delivery of stuff in today’s post, including a CD I’d forgotten I’d ordered

Time to go and see what other delights have crept into my mailboxes while I’ve been having a late lunch…

This alone is enough to make me question my life choices and where I’m working. Back in the day (when we went into the office), the best I could expect at a potluck was cheese & crackers.

Today is cold and just a teeny bit snowy - at least there was a dusting last night. Overlyhusband slept on the couch last night, probably thanks to the pie we had. The guy gets acid reflux like no one’s business (all it takes is more than a little bit of dinner in the evening) and has significant insomnia issues. I can’t even imagine how hard that must be to deal with. I tend to fall into the “crashes within 5 minutes of the head hitting the pillow” category and sleep all night with no issues. No wonder he has so much trouble getting up in the morning. I wish he’d do a sleep study.

It’s gonna be a day, alright. Will probably get my ass handed to me by my boss just after lunch - one of our vendors isn’t doing their job because the government restricted the industry’s ability to do the one thing we need them to do. Since I’m measured on that particular thing, fairness doesn’t really come into the equation. I’m responsible for it, whether it can happen or not, so the crap is rolling downhill and about to cover me in a steaming pile. Which is exactly why I don’t like being in management.

Howdy Y’all! I survived bein’ echocardiogrammed! It is too a word, I just made it up! Been home just over an hour. I changed into normal around da cave attire (sweatpants, tshirt, socks, slippers, and robe for those who are nosy and want to know, which is everybody) and et a peanut butter 'n nanner sammich. I think in a little bit I shall make tonight’s sup for N.O.L. just cause it’s rainy, dreary, and miserable out and midday comfort food is called for.

Our staff is very food-motivated. There are only about a dozen of us when everyone is in the orifice, so it’s no big deal to ‘bring enough for everybody’ and suddenly there’s a potluck. I think there were seven of us in the orifice yesterday, plus El Jefe’s daughter. One of the sales reps sent in queso dip (Velveeta, Rotel’s, and sausage) with another sales rep, but she attended the potluck virtually because she had a family gathering for Thanksgiving and is isolating. (New Work Rule: If you attend a gathering of more than five people, you have to work remotely for seven days. She’s very concerned; so even though she could’ve attended, she chose not to.)

Morning all. Woke up to rain and it’s still precipitating outside, but hopefully stopping shortly as I need to pick up dry cleaning and do a little shopping. Outside of that and getting the trash and recyclables out to the curb for Thorsday pickup, not much else on the agenda.

{{{Cookie}}}, hope the break helps and an occasional check-in would be nice, if it fits with your Drs. orders.

FCM/swampy, glad the medical stuff went well. Everybody stay healthy now (my county is now approaching 18,000 documented COVID cases, a huge increase in the past two weeks).

talky, don’t think I’ve ever had acid reflux but from everything I’ve heard, I hope husband-unit gets to feeling better soon. And one reason that in 33 years of government work I never went beyond GS13 was that I had no desire to be management. Best of luck.

gotti, hope things work out.

I don’t know nothing about pork neck bones and I don’t want to know…but I hope they can be found for you, nellie

nettie, I get ‘peopled out’ to, of course, being a single gentleman of leisure I don’t get to see that many people anymore. But sometimes solitude is a good thing. Take care.

OK, need to make myself presentable and do the outdoor chores before chowtime. All y’all take care.

So there was much bag heaving on the midnight shift. Especially since we had to heave every bag 4 times. And Hub BossTM thought since they didn’t pull up the trailer until halfway through the shift, we could do 2 trailers(i.e. twice as much work in half the time). Regular shift had me bouncing around half the hub, but at least I had a working imprinter on the sort aisle [Carl Spackler]I got that going for me, which is nice.[/Carl Spackler]. They also hired TVCTPMO as seasonal help today. And it was 36 on the quarter mile walk to the car, uphill both ways through the snowrain. It’s a “whisky in the corn flakes” kind of morning.

Saran Wrap togas.

Oder some from Da Jungle.

Sounds like being yelled at by a bat. :bat:

Turns out my treadmill is metric and can’t be switched to the correct mode ( ) so instead of walking at 3, I’ll walk at 5. It is a bit too noisy for the crappy TV in the basement - I had to turn on the captions.

It’s raining and 34° so a miserable day. I’m about to heat up a bowl of soup. Gotta see if FCD wants lunch - he’s not answering the intercom, so I’m guessing he’s on the phone. I’ll just squish the way out there. Maybe we should put pavers between the house and the shop? Not today, but some day.

An intercom? Do you use it to summon the butler and the hunky pool boy? Do they come down on the elevator or the escalator?

He’s in his shop, roughly 100’ from the house, thru the rain. :stuck_out_tongue: We have one station in the kitchen, one in his shop, and one in the basement, so we don’t have to yell down the stairs. We’s classy like that!

Turns out he was on a teleconference when I paged him and everyone heard. Oh well. I had my soup, he had leftover pizza. No clue what supper will be - maybe salad? Sammiches? Dunno.
