So how was your Friday night?

Mine was not too bad… ended up drinking at home with my roomie and ex-roomie (he came for a visit) then at the bar just as it was closing to pick up our DJ friend… and my ex boyfriend… then ended up at my ex’s place and watched him play Baldur’s Gate while the others babbled on about who they were trying to go out with now… then went to get munchies back to the apartment… watched cartoons then went home and sat up till 6 am waking up this afternoon feeling like I’m starting to get a cold.

But yah… how was your Friday night?

I watched 12 Monkeys, which is a fabulous movie, and I have to buy it cause Blockbuster wanted it back and I didn’t get to watch it with the commentary (DVDs farkin’ ROCK!) and I so want to because I think Gilliam is a mad genius. Then I played with the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo, because I’m a total game geek, and it rocked me. And then I started work on some game designs I had rattling around in my skull. All in all, a good night.

My brother invited me to see an Improv show at the Royal George in Chicago. He and I are trying to put together our own improvisational comedy thing, and he figured we could use some inspiration. It was painful to watch. I have never seen such an inept attempt at comedy. My brother, who had seen this group before, was very apologetic. I’ve heard of actors having an “off” night, but this was excruciatingly bad.

Afterward, he and I went out for a nice Italian dinner and discussed what we would have done differently with the same premise, and we decided we’re a whole lot better at this improv thing than we thought we were.

Improv is either a total blast or completely, utterly painful to watch. I say this both as a comedy fan and someone who had to do improv in an acting class he once took.

I had a couple of friends over, cooked Arabian food, and we watched “Romper Stomper”. Good movie, if disturbing. Plus, the food was great, if I do say so myself.

Good times.

Got back from work, abandoned the suit and tie, headed up to a newly-opened pub up the road – for some reason it had a log fire in September and some really unfunny bar prices – and met up with some FOFs I hadn’t seen in years. Few drinks, home to order a takeaway and get through plenty of wine, then a reasonable night’s sleep ready for the football today.

I supplied the keg for a surprise “Dirty Thirty” boithday party.

About 11:PM, I stumbled home with a friend of mine from college that moved up here (rather unexpectedly to me, too).

I don’t remember much after that, but my garage is in a shambles.

Tripler
No goats or sheep were harmed in the production of last night.

Mine was rather pathetic. I stayed in, drank tea, and generally felt blah – much like tonight. :frowning:

I came home from work at midnight & played with the 4 old computers I’d bought before work yesterday. I put 3 network cards in one of them & aded some RAM, spent a while getting Linux to see the CD ROM. That one is going to be my smoothwall gateway/router/firewall for the home network. Then I when upstairs & started a download of immunix for the DMZ. I go tto bed around 5:00 am & when I got up at noon the download was still running, hopefully I’ll get the whole thing downloaded this time.

I took the long, long, long way home from work and enjoyed some really cool, twisty, hilly roads with 1130 cc’s of pure V-Twin power between my legs - and I was wearing full protection, too

Went to Rooster’s to have dinner with my friend Miss Mae, and we enjoyed burgers and spicey fries. After dinner we made a run to Wal-Mart in a search for a highlighting cap for her hair but didn’t find one. At least not one that didn’t come with the rest of the highlighting kit. So we wound up talkin’ to our friend that works at Wal-Mart and then came back home.

I was at home and surfing the dope by 9:30.

There’s not a lot to do around here. Sadly enough, that was an exciting Friday night for me.

That’s actually what I’m doing tonight Serendipity. I really did catch a cold and though I’ve only been up maybe… 6 hours I’m dead tired again and ready to zonk till tomorrow morning.

I hate getting sick so suddenly.

I went to my final uni ball (or formal, or prom, or whatever you Americans call it).

It was great. It was probably the biggest ball ever to be hosted by a student society of my university. There was over 900 people in attendence, most in masquerade costume. There was an open bar all night and a decent DJ to keep the night afloat. My table wasn’t served dinner until after 10pm, but the bar was serving Crownies (Crown Lager are the most popular Australian top-shelf beer), bottles of Magaret River chardonnay and pitchers of mixed spirits, so we didn’t really mind.

Being our last ball, it was a little sad realising it would be one of the final times I would be together with the same group of guys and girls. I got positively maudlin when we had our photos taken together.

But it was a great night nonetheless.

I’m such a sick person… I cleaned out and organized my closet last night.

Tonight? Have drank/am drinking massive quantities of beer.

Let’s see…on the immensely small chance that a certain girl might’ve been performing there (why else do I even bother to get out of bed?), I called up a philosophy buddy of mine, went to a university-run coffeehouse and watched a steady parade of singer-songwriters fumble their way through bad Ryan Adams covers. Almost proposed to the woman who makes the most scintillating, most delicious caramel-fudge shortcake in the entire Western Hemisphere.

Eventually, after meeting up with a couple other friends, we all somehow ended up at a local bar, listening to some band’s strange hybrid of blues-rock and Scottish bagpiper music. I found out, later on, that the guy playing lead guitar used to make fun of me in elementary school. I never did find the girl I was innocently stalking, however. :frowning:

Friday night, I went to an NA meeting (which was really good) then went to see Igby goes down with friends (which was also really good, but very depressing, for a “comedy”).

Not too bad. I was feeling a bit unwell (frickin’ cold!) but decided to go out anyway. I had to go to a Charity Golf Day Dinner for the local branch of the Australian Medical Association (they were fundraising for a youth education programme which I’m involved in). It was pretty boring, but they gave me free dinner (though the dessert was a disappointment) and some nice wine, and there were a few other students there so we sat in a corner and were noisy together…

Anyways, we left the dinner about 10:30ish and went to MedLaw Show (a big party thrown by medical students and law students at my university). It was a good party - lots of people there from both faculties [sub]apart from all the bloody lawyers who went to ECOMS instead, no names mentioned Narrad…[/sub] :stuck_out_tongue: Had a few drinks, danced a bit, saw lots of friends. When it finished, lots of people went clubbing but I was feeling tired and not drunk enough, so I got my friend Cass to give me a lift home.

Took a nap until about 9 because I had gotten less than 3 hours of sleep the night before. Did some light cleaning, and tried to study until my boyfriend arrived. I hadn’t seen him since I moved about 3 weeks ago. We went to a couple bars and had a grand old time. And I get to see him this weekend too! Yay me!

My trial advocacy class was bumped from Thursday to Friday, so I was stuck at school until 8 p.m. The good side is that I’ve been dating a girl for about a month now, so we planned to hang out immediately after. I cooked her a steak dinner, and then we watched Star Wars: Episode I. She’s never seen any of the films in full, and believe it or not, she actually liked this episode. (I can only wager that she’ll LOVE the rest of them.) Then we played Nintendo baseball and cuddled on the couch until 3 in the morning. God, I’m in love with her.
