Whoops, I didn’t see your last post, Lobsang. In any case, my comments weren’t meant to criticize your post so much as use it for a jumping-off point for me to discuss why Clothahump is such a dick.
Eh, I think clothahump picked the perfect thread to say that in for one reason, anyway. We can contrast his reaction with the reaction of the 3rd graders in the thread, and see that the 3rd graders were more mature.
Not the right thread for Clothahump to express that opinion.
I do not know that the issue is so settled as to be able to declare Clothahump completely wrong, but I think simple logic obligates us to admit tha there has to be some explanation for people that are absolutely convinced they are female when their bodies are male, and vice versa. Perhaps it’s simply obstinate denial, or foolishness… but the tenacity with which they stick to their self-image, in the face of social rdicule and worse, makes me believe that it’s more than simple denial or obstinancy.
In any event, we’ve had threads on this subject before, and likely will again.
Regardless of the position you take on the issue, rudeness is never a good approach, Clothahump.
Eh, that wasn’t the worst comment I’ve ever seen on these boards. Yes, it was insensitive and not fitting with the spirit of the other thread, and Clothahump probably should have self-censored there, but mostly it just sounds pointless. And this thread feels like an overreaction.
Although I’m with the great majority of the posters on this issue, I don’t see the issue as totally black and white. I’d like to read what a few of the more conservative posters have to say…in a less inflammatory forum.
Therefore, I’ve opened a GD thread with the hope (forlorn?) of actually fighting ignorance rather than just bashing each other.
It was extremely hard for me to resist the urge to post such a comparison in the original thread.
Just for the record, in WeRSauron’s thread regarding which Orthodox church is closest to the original, he decided to inform us all that they are all scam artists practicing their trade.
I get the feeling that he hasn’t comprehended the purpose behind this board yet. Or maybe he’s part of the rear guard for the opposition. :rolleyes:
Well, I took a look at Clothahumps recent posts because I’ve always liked his name and I hadn’t really noticed him ruffling alot of feathers before this little stunt.
Apparently, I wasn’t paying attention.
I’m surprised at how surprised everyone is by Clothahump’s behavior. After reading some of his other posts, only true surprise for me is how someone so seemingly mean-spirited could pick a username that cool. The mind boggles.

To me, it was more like telling someone who’s just said their children are still alive in their heart that “No, sorry they are dead as doornails, nothing can bring them back, and you’d just better learn to cope with it.” JMHO though. They definitely need to learn when to apply the social nicety of tactful silence, if they can’t apply it to speech.
