So long, Ziva

Cote de Pablo has decided she doesn’t want to do NCIS anymore. She’ll appear in the season opener episode, ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’.

So what do you think? Will they kill Ziva? Will she decide to go back to Israel? Will she do something unforgivable and be fired?

I hope they just replace her with Sarah Chalke, continuing the same character.

At the end of last season, Ziva, Tony and McGee all turned in their badges. She’s an American citizen, so they shouldn’t deport her. Has anybody left the show without their character dying?

The director before Lauren Holly simply took another job, right? I know the character appeared late in this last season (in the turf war over Ziva chasing down the guy who killed her father) but can’t remember if it was the same actor.

Director Morrow left without dying, though he was hardly a major character. I’d bet good money he appeared on screen less than Gerald (Ducky’s first, black assistant), who also left without dying.

Gibbs’s various girlfriends have left without dying, and usually without explanation (other than the implicit sudden awakening of good sense).

I really hope they don’t kill her. They’ve gone to that well too often.

It was the same actor.

Now, anything less will be a total disappointment.

I have a feeling that she’ll have some kind of epiphany and realize that she loves Tony, but remaining on Gibbs’ team puts him in jeopardy or something along those lines.

Or Mossad will give her a ring and ask her to do something bigtime.

Or maybe she’ll do some kind of noble self-sacrifice thing and get Gibbs off the hook and get chucked in prison.

THIS is just wishful thinking: may Tony’s dad dies, leaving him (surprise) a ton of money. Tony marries Ziva, they BOTH leave NCIS, go on a European honeymoon, live happily ever after.

Otherwise, she’s turned in her badge. As a naturalized American citizen, can they deport her anyway?

I doubt it. That’s what American citizen means. They’d have to revoke her citizenship first, and that’s a long and onerous process.

I hope they remove her with a minimum of drama. She and Tony decide to start dating, so she simply takes another job after Tony returns to the team.
