I managed to idiotically get my account blocked, but all is well again and I’m sorry for the late reply!
F.Pu-du-he-pa-as, we’re a special kind of insane, aren’t we? Is your name something from, like, Linear B or Hittite? I’m terrible with that stuff.
And thanks again for all the warm welcome-backs. It’s funny how no matter what I do, I know I’m always gonna be LaurAnge to most of you! Ah, the folly of teenage usernames.
And even though I already posted one pic, since I was asked again, here are somemorepictures of my pups. I’m completely a crazy dog lady and I’ve embraced that.
So okay you HAVE to give me some credit for that one! How many people have guessed Hittite before, even if it was one of two options?
Actually, one of the profs here does a lot with Anatolia, so I’ve taken a couple of seminars on the history, but I stick to my nice, safe Greek and Latin (okay that’s a lie, I also do some stuff with Italic languages, but whatever.)
And oh my gosh, hi Zette! How are things? Still in FL?
I remember you, but I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t realize you’d gone because I got your name mixed up with Elendil’s Heir. I do that a lot with posters’ names.
Hello, fellow Ancient History PhD!
I am also in the superfun world of adjuncting right now. Not really looking for tenure track jobs for a few reasons, but I enjoy the teaching at least.
Hey Daphne! I remember chatting with you. I’m glad you’re happy teaching - I find it has its good moments… and its terrible moments. I’m still not sure I’ll be able to make it with an academic career, but I figure after 8 years of working toward it I had better give it a good shot.
I’m currently tearing my hair out trying to write a statement that was requested as additional materials from one of the jobs I applied to.
I feel like I’ve regressed to undergrad! I have an assigned topic and I keep checking page-length, desperately hoping that I’m closer to meeting the requirement.
