Fried chicken, broccoli spears, fried fish, lemon, pulled bbq pork, chicken pot pie, sweet potato, green beans, macaroni and cheese, carrots, fried green tomatoes, chicken noodle soup with oyster crackers, corn bread and a slice of carrot cake.
With a glass of plain water, since I’m watching my weight.
A sesame teriyaki noodle bowl (from CostCo), cauliflower potato salad, string cheese, a Mountain Dew, and some oreos. I discovered this morning that my daughter ate the chicken I was planning for a sandwich, so I had to go to plan B.
I have a cherry tomato plant thats going all kinds of ripe, so cherry tomato and cuke salad with those little bocci-whatchamacallit mozza balls and a lemon tarragon dressing I made. And hummus and a pita.
Home sick from work, so I cooked, taco soup. Canned diced tomatoes, black beans, corn, a bell pepper, garlic, onion, hot sauce, lemon juice, beef bouillon, finished with a dollop of sour cream. I might go have another bowl now, thinking about it makes me hungry again.
Daylight Saturday morning now, and I can already tell you what I will have for lunch today. Khao man kai, also known as Hainanese-style chicken and rice, followed by some popcorn when we watch Public Enemies and then some ice cream at Swenson’s in honor of the wife’s birthday next Tuesday.
Yes, that’s the stuff. In Malaysia, too. I remember the first time the wife and I were in Malaysia, and she saw a shop whose specialty was advertised as Hainanese chicken. She was all eager to try it until I pointed out it was just good ol’ khao man gai.
I had a grilled chicken caesar wrap (in an herb & garlic tortilla) from the local sandwich shop, some nacho cheese flavor Doritos, and a glass of water.
For dessert, a spoonful of chocolate chip cookie dough from the plastic tube–roughly one cookie’s worth, I’d guess.
