So, what did you have for lunch?

Fried chicken, broccoli spears, fried fish, lemon, pulled bbq pork, chicken pot pie, sweet potato, green beans, macaroni and cheese, carrots, fried green tomatoes, chicken noodle soup with oyster crackers, corn bread and a slice of carrot cake.

With a glass of plain water, since I’m watching my weight.

A sesame teriyaki noodle bowl (from CostCo), cauliflower potato salad, string cheese, a Mountain Dew, and some oreos. I discovered this morning that my daughter ate the chicken I was planning for a sandwich, so I had to go to plan B.

Lean Cuisine BBQ Chicken pizza and a bowl of my wife’s homemade split pea soup.

I have a cherry tomato plant thats going all kinds of ripe, so cherry tomato and cuke salad with those little bocci-whatchamacallit mozza balls and a lemon tarragon dressing I made. And hummus and a pita.

I lunched at Papaya King (Upper Eastside, NYC): hotdog with kraut, fries, and a “coconut champagne.”

Sushi - Volcano Rolls, Tempura Vegetables, and some random California Roll.

Liverwurst on Ritz crackers, a banana and a diet Coke.

A Juicy Burger™, 4 pickles, yukon gold fries and a Mt Dew.

Home sick from work, so I cooked, taco soup. Canned diced tomatoes, black beans, corn, a bell pepper, garlic, onion, hot sauce, lemon juice, beef bouillon, finished with a dollop of sour cream. I might go have another bowl now, thinking about it makes me hungry again.

Daylight Saturday morning now, and I can already tell you what I will have for lunch today. Khao man kai, also known as Hainanese-style chicken and rice, followed by some popcorn when we watch Public Enemies and then some ice cream at Swenson’s in honor of the wife’s birthday next Tuesday.

I had prosciutto and brie on a baguette.

Is khao man kai the same thing as the Hainan chicken rice that is commonly found in Singaporean hawker fare?

A cheese and ham sandwich and a mandarin.

Romaine lettuce with “Zesty Italian” dressing and leftover chicken Pad Thai from last night’s dinner.

Pork Pie & a snack mix called Black Forest, washed down with instant coffee.

kalbsrahmgoulasch mit bratkartoffeln and a mixed salad. Just mineral water to drink. That was yesterday (Friday).

Yes, that’s the stuff. In Malaysia, too. I remember the first time the wife and I were in Malaysia, and she saw a shop whose specialty was advertised as Hainanese chicken. She was all eager to try it until I pointed out it was just good ol’ khao man gai.

I had a grilled chicken caesar wrap (in an herb & garlic tortilla) from the local sandwich shop, some nacho cheese flavor Doritos, and a glass of water.

For dessert, a spoonful of chocolate chip cookie dough from the plastic tube–roughly one cookie’s worth, I’d guess.

Because I have wicked heartburn in the evenings that keep my appetite at bay past, say, 4pm, I load up on the bland and the carb.

Lunch was: cheese bagel with lowfat cream cheese, three graham crackers, and a bottle of water.

And just now: three dill pickles. Hey, I’m pregnant, I have a stereotype to uphold.

The “Your insides are ON FIRE!” that kick in during evening hours may cause me to regret those pickles, but oh, they were so good.

Yesterday I had lunch with my husband at the craptastic Chinese buffet. Today I had leftover chicken noodle casserole.

For brunch today I had a Boca Burger on a sesame bagel and some cherries. I’m thinking about having some peanut butter toast now. Dadgum heartburn.
