Butterflied leg of lamb on the grill, with sauted kale, onions and garlic.
I made a white pizza tonight with homemade Alfredo sauce, diced chicken, some Buffalo mozzarella, chopped artichoke hearts (in water, not oil) and sliced black olives. It was great.
No freaking idea, which probably translates to some sort of pasta.
Yep, this is “clean up the leftovers” night, which sometimes becomes “pizza night”.
I’m detecting a pattern here.
I’m maybe walking over for Indian food. A little late to defrost steaks. The fridge + freezer is bursting with food; sadly I’m not bursting with ambition to cook any of it.
Decisions, decisions.
It’s a nice pattern. I’ll have to break it sometime, but not tonight!
Well my predictions just above came to naught.
Decided I mostly wanted a large salad; feeling green deprived. So we went down to the beach area to a local American casual kinda place and sat outside in the breeze. I had a mongo salad w bacon, HB egg, and a blackened tilapia fillet. Wife had a BBQ spare ribs appetizer. After dinner took a walk along the shore then back home.
Time now for, yes, for us &
for her.
Cheers! bon apetit everyone!
Looks like I’ll be having chickpea-butternut squash curry, with some cheesecake for dessert.
I thought I was going to grill rib-eyes on the barbie. Right after I got off work, Mrs. L.A. said, ‘So are we going out to dinner, or what?’ So we went to the Mexican place as usual. This time we both had camarones a la diabla. And margaritas. We’ll have more of the shrimp with steaks mañana.
If the sausage thaws in time, a mutant stir-fry. If not, pizza and I’ll do the stir-fry tomorrow. Thin-sliced summer sausage, sliced mushrooms, thin sliced yellow and red bell peppers and a sauce to be determined later.
Still pondering what’s for dinner. I’m thinking about brunch sometime this weekend, though - probably a Blueberry Dutch baby.
Cheese fondue with reisling, Gruyere and 4 y.o. cheddar. Garden cherry tomatoes, and SF style sourdough for dipping. A big, bitey red for dessert with Dark chocolate brownies covered in warm salted caramel.
Tuna steaks, mango salsa, rice, asparagus, avocado, Sriracha mayo, Wasabi.
I didn’t wind up making the Middle Eastern lentil soup I posted last week but it’s on the stove now. The house already smells amazing.
Roast pork with sauerkraut, onions, celery, chayote, carrots, and diced tomatoes.
We had a cold front come through(never even got to 70)so that called for a roasting pan in the oven all day! Of course, that means tomorrow we’ll be having leftovers for Sunday dinner.
Roast sausage, squash, potatoes with cheese and garlic biscuits.
Grilled NY strips, sauteed onions, and crusty baked potatoes. Tonight at least, veggies seemed like a distraction. A nice Cab is still going down well a couple hours later.
for her is next; I’m eyeballing some dark chocolate and nuts or perhaps a small cheese board.
Do NOT leave us in suspense. We want to know all about it when it’s ready!
Have all the fixings for beef stew… made chicken flautas instead.
I baked a good chunk of the day, dirtied a bunch of bowls and utensils, didn’t feel like adding more.
Now that everything is cleaned up and put away, hopefully I’ll be in the mood to make stew tomorrow.
I ended up making red lentil rotini (Barilla, not bad, didn’t taste like lentils) with sauce made from sun-dried tomato pesto and Russian eggplant-tomato spread from a jar and extra garlic. It was pretty good. I have some leftover frozen cheesecake if I need dessert later. Or an orange.
Very nice, smooth & creamy but not heavy at all! We’ll see if I survive eating the better part of a pot of the stuff. Local Geiger counters be forewarned.
I need to get an immersion blender, it would make this sort of recipe so much easier.
