Yeah, I can see where that would present a problem. Good point.
I was looking at cat pictures on r/cats and saw the title of a Reddit thread. I immediately confirmed it on CNN, interrupted Mr. Legend’s Thursday afternoon Zoom meeting to show him, and then came here.
I was driving home from an errand when I heard on NPR that the jury had reached a verdict which would be announced soon. In a fit of optimism I quickly stopped at a grocery store to pick up some Champaign party poppers and Martinelli’s sparkling cider (the wife doesn’t drink) to be prepared to celebrate. When I got back to the car they were talking about how the “Trump campaign handle this”, and I figured it was probably good news, only to have it confirmed a couple of minutes later that it was guilty on all counts.
I thought it was possible today could be a busy day on the P&E forum, so I structured my week so I’d be around most of the day today. I didn’t expect the verdict until tomorrow, but I was happy to be wrong on that particular point.
So I was here on the Board, following the Manhattan trial thread when the news broke on MSNBC. I’ll never forget watching the historical moment as their verdict graphic ticked over, “Guilty, guilty, guilty…” as to each count from one through thirty-four.
Then my phone rang and I whooped it up for a bit with a friend who was as eager for this verdict as I was.
Time for a cocktail!
I was working from home when my wife texted me that he was found guilty on all 34 counts.
A pillar of restraint, me.
I was In my hotel room in Monterey (2-room suite on Munas with a nice view looking out to the bay). I had just gotten back from a long walk along the waterfront and around the Cannery Row area, I opened my laptop, fired up The Dope and read the news. Knowing DJT had been convicted made a good day even better.
Which money will conveniently go to the Trump legal fund and not to any campaign!
My wife and I were celebrating her birthday with dinner at a restaurant. We very rarely dine at this restaurant (it’s too noisy and has a redneck vibe), but we had a gift card and the food is always good. When we saw the news bulletin on my phone, we cheered, but silently, because my wife said this is probably not the place to cheer Trump’s guilty verdict out loud. The restaurant was Texas Roadhouse.
I was teaching a study hall so was at my desk not doing much other than monitoring the students. I happened to glance down at my phone sitting on my desk, which of course had the screen turned off, and saw a text message notification light up the screen. It only displayed the first line; it was from a buddy of mine:
It took every bit of self control not to let out a whoop of joy. I opened up CNN and there it was.
Great first post. Welcome!
I was watching netflix, and my watch told me a small measure of justice had been applied to the world.
Sadly, it is too little and all the other trials will be too late.
Fingers crossed he gets 2 years of house arrest minimum.
At home, watching CNN while preparing dinner.
mmm
My Comcast went out (they were working in the neighborhood) just when the jury started to come in. I’m way too slow on the phone, so I just waited for 30 minutes or so for the good news.
Browsing the Dope hoping someone here would have the news soonest. Wife was on her computer on CNN. We both got it almost the same time.
On the phone with my mother, teaching her how to select and email multiple photos. I never have CNN on (or TV news period) — I get my news from the Dope, The NY Times (digital), and NPR — but this time I happened to have it on.
I was napping and they interrupted Lets Make a Deal with the good news and kept on talking about it through Family Feud.
Came in from working outside late, hungry, ate some supper, patted the dog, thought I’d take a fast check of email before bed.
One look at email sent me to NPR and then here.
In the emergency room waiting hours for treatment …smiling.
Just got home from work and was cruising Reddit with a handful of potato chips. Great news to savor with my snack.
At home in bed at 5:30, planning to take a pre-dinner nap, but I got sucked into looking at the Dope and saw lots of movement on the thread about the trial, opened it, and woohoo! Big big sigh of relief! I was afraid he might get off somehow.
I told my husband, who was napping beside me, and the news woke him up immediately. He let out a yell of triumph, and we gloated over the headline and photo in the NY Times. Then he rushed to turn on the TV.
We’ve lived in the NYC area for many years (since 1986 for me, a whole lifetime for him) and have been exposed to Trump news coverage all that time, so we’ve known and loathed him for ages.
