I almost said the same thing.
Hmmm… the 25th is the day before my anniversary… wife or Dopers? Wife…or Dopers?
Pasadena, Santa Monica or Costa Mesa? Yeah, those are near each other.
I recommend King’s Seafood in either Anaheim or Long Beach
Whoops! King’s Fish House is the official name, and it’s Orange, not Anaheim. There’s one in Rancho Cucamonga too.
Or the Crab Cooker in Tustin or Newport Beach.
Can you tell I’m in the mood for seafood?
Glendale? Check my Location: I’m not in Glendale, I’m in Hollywood. All the streetlights have banners proclaiming “Little Armenia,” all the storefronts have Armenian signage and everybody speaks Mexican* so I kinda figured I lived in Little Armenia.
*No, not Spanish - Mexican. Ask any Spaniard, there’s a difference.
Curious what part of this conversation yielded the Google ad “Are You a Slacker Mom?”
Oh boy, Yeticus! Thanks for posting that. You might have before, but I missed it, just like I had to miss that dopefest. I was there in spirit, though. My friend wanted to go, but she was too sick.
Anywhoo, if someone organizes a new one, I will try to be there.
I got this one guys…Whoosh
I would be down for a dopefest, I live in North Hollywood, but would travel all over, and have been to almost all the locations suggested so far at least once.
If you didn’t already know, Glendale is known for having a high Armenian population. So much so that it’s become a joke that if you’re armenian you must be from Glendale.
Hey NAF1138, did the nickname “NoHo” ever take off in North Hollywood?
I wonder how they’re getting away with false advertising? Last time I was in your fair city there were lots of hos around…
I’m trying to get my fair home city known as Stud. City…so far it’s not working. ::sniffle::
I haven’t been to a Dopefest in many a year. The 25th of August 2006 is a date on which I could attend. Costa Mesa sounds like an excellent location to me!
Yes and no. The area of North Hollywood between Vinland and Tujunga on the east and west, and Stretching from Moorepark to Magnolia North and South, can be legitimatly referred to as “The NoHo arts district” Especially if you are talking about something located on Lankrashem within that area. Other than that people will laugh at you if you say NoHo.
Yup and that is the cause of the large whooshing sound in this thread.
If you guys go for the 25th I will be half way to Guam while you are dopefesting.
I owuld much rather be with you.

The 25th is a no-go for me. I’m going to be stuck at work through September 1st or so.
Although I could probably schedule something in for October…
Bolding done by me
Something closer to the SFV or Western SGV would be best for me. I don’t drive so I’d be dragging the SO along…talking him into a minimum hour each way drive to meet people from a message board, well let’s just say I don’t see that going over well.
I get it: yinz guys are just jaggin’ with me. (Props to whoever can pin my accent.)
I’m a newbie here in LaLaLand. In fact, I remember somebody offering to have a DopeFest when I got here back in October but it seems to have fallen through.
I like the free pie at Marie Callendar’s so put me down for that. As for dates, I’m open.
I really like Koji’s at the Block which is a combo sushi/shabushabu place. They also have a TGIfridays across the street which remains open late.
If we can get that date changed to August 25th, I’d love it. My hotel seems to be within a half mile of The Gypsy Den.
We should be pulling into town around 3:00pm. How would you all feel about making it a late evening and starting at 7 or so? I need to get family obligations out of the way. Sigh. If it needs to be earlier, I can do some shuffling.
