With these weeks events, I thought it might be good to do this.
Anyone got good news to share? It can be as unimportant as you want, just share it with everyone and cheer yourself up!
I’ll go first.
I bought a brand spanking new Moped yesterday evening, rode it for the first time (on a moped, ever!) home from the shop through rush hour traffic, and I loved every minute.
I was thinking of calling it the Putzcycle mark II and putting a Canadian Flag onto it, as a mark of respect.
I bought this supercool mini-tripod for my P&S camera. It was only 12 guilders 50. A Moped? Sheesh. Don’t try to drive in front of any blue Peugeots, Larrigans, because I go berserk when I see these evil traffic demons
The local news is going to do a piece on my improv group. We aquired an intern who knows her shit, and is a WAY better director than my sister, which is good. (but pisses off my sister, who is the official director) We are getting write ups in the local papers. I recieved my first paycheck from the show yesterday. All of these are good things.
Should I have my psychiatrist with the world domination plan refer to her patients as “putzes” as part of a tough-love therepy? I think that would be a fitting tribute.
I have a 1953 Zeiss-Ikon Contaflex SLR, but I only use that on special occasions. It’s a superb camera though, if yuo know how to handle it it kicks every modern SLR’s ass.
My P&S is a Rollei Prego 90. You’d be surprised at the URLs that pop up when you do an Altavista seachr for THAT
After a hellish, cross-country move in a U-Haul, we finally have Psycat all moved in and most of the boxes unpacked. Since she’s been here, every day has been incredible. I am happier than I’ve ever been in my life. Also, my kids are coming to stay with us for a month starting next week, which means lots of camping, amusement parks, etc…
Something good? Well…yesterday I was sick to my stomach and spent most of the day with my head in the toilet…today I am still woozy but haven’t had the urge to vomit once! That’s good, isn’t it?
With all the other events of the week, I think my other posts involving this got buried, so I’ll mention again that my sister gave birth to a healthy 9lb 3oz baby girl named Amanda on the 20th - which also happens to be the day I picked for the baby pool! I don’t know what I won yet.
I’m alive, with loving friends and family, and all you zanies here on the SDMB.
I’m also counting the days to the Wally Memorial Vegas Doperfest over labour day!
I got my teacher evaluations back from the first Unix Workshop I taught. For teacher presentation skills, I got two 10’s, a 9 and an 8. Since this is maybe the 2nd or third class I’ve taught in my life, that’s pretty cool!
There was a vendor in BD class this week and she had a costume that fit. (They don’t tend to make them in my size) And it’s purple and gold.
I’ve finished marking my 900 essays, my wife has told her clients to deal without her for a week, and we’re all set for a week of just each other for a change.
First the wedding of two dear friends, then we whip off 500 kilometres into the (Australian) outback to a legendary restaurant. Then we just drive around for a while.
That I think it might be worth mentioning this on the off chance that anyone here wonders where I am is a good thing too.
My sister got a promotion (much-deserved) and a large raise to accompany it (even more deserved)!
I tracked down three old friends whose phone and mail info I had lost, and we’re getting together when they’re in town later this year. Also :D-worthy.
Demo, I am so happy for you and Psycat. This is a big old world, and when two people find each other, it is a true miracle. I hope you are as happy everyday as you are right now.

As for me, my good stuff to share is that summer is just beginning, and I have already done more, gone more places that I usually do in a whole summer. We are going camping the long weekend, and it should be a hoot! We have a water theme park visit on the list for Sunday too.
