Ive written some songs that use different songwriting ‘ticks’ - a spelling song, a chorus free song, a key change down, etc and now I’m writing a song that goes ‘Woo Hoo!’.
So I’d like to listen to as many as I can to be sure not to pinch one and in order to honour the form.
Can you point any out to me? Obvious ones are Song 2 by Blur and Statue of Liberty by XTC. I won’t count Bohemian Like Me by The Dandy Warhols as that goes ‘Woo Hoo Hoo!’ but any others you could let me know would be sought out for my autistic-like research.
Cheers.
I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet
It wasn’t easy
But nothing is, no
Whoo hoo!
Well I feel heavy metal
Whoo hoo!
And I’m pins and I’m needles
Whoo hoo!
Well I lie and I’m easy*
“All of the Angels”, a b-side by Tears For Fears. So much so that I have appended the song an unofficial alternate title: “All of the Angels (woo hoo hoo)”.
All of the angels
Woo hoo HOO!
Callin’ us home
Woo hoo HOO HOO!
We leave tomorrow
We leave everything we own!
Yeah yeah yeah!
It’s All Been Done by Barenaked Ladies, rumoured to have been written because they didn’t want to be the only band without a song with “Woo hoo” in it…
Thanks for the suggestions. Those that I’ve never heard (Rammstein for instance) will require investigation.
I mentioned Song 2 in the OP as I knew that it does indeed go ‘Woo Hoo!’
I hoped I had pointed out how fussy I was by outlawing a ‘woo hoo hoo’ as not being a ‘woo hoo’. Think Homer Simpson. He doesn’t say, ‘Woo Hoo Hoo!’ when delighted!
I’d love to include your entry Roland, but it does not meet the criteria.
I don’t need 'yoo hoo’s or 'whoo whoo’s (I’d considered Sympathy For The Devil but discounted it), I’ll look out all the songs above in the hope that they don’t in fact say, ‘Woo Woo!’
'Woo Hoo! by the 5,6,7,8’s does look promising tho…
