Sopranos 9/22/02

You know, my impression was that he shot up in his foot because his arm-veins had collapsed already from previous use. It didn’t even occur to me that he was using his foot out of caution. Not saying I’m right about that, just that the guy is such a dim bulb that I never credit him for caution!

** Max **,
If she is Mirandized, what she says can’t be used against HER. It can be used against Christopher - it’s against SELF-incrimination. The FBI can say they were busting her on drugs (shouldn’t it be interstate for Feds? Trafficking?)

Spit,
That cop he shot - a suicide will have powder bruns from close proximity to the weapon. Lacking that, any idiot coroner will know instantly from that, and almost definitely the angle, it wasn’t suicide. Popular among cops is placing the gun in the nouth and shooting the medulla. Hard to miss, that’s why they talk of a suicide as eating his gun. Wonder if it WAS that cop, or Tony testing him? Usually, though, they stay away from shooting cops - then the heat stays lower and no cops shoot at the bosses. I recall a case a few years ago in STaten Island a low level thug killed a fed drug guy - the heat went up, and the MOB killed the guy.

Whacks - They usually stay away from the women. Forget the women, with the exception of Melfi and Janice. Janice would be personal, maybe a Ralphie or someone who hated her. No mob tie-in. Melfi someone may try to shut up. Doubtful, though - she’s Tony’s shrink, and he would take insult.

Silvio set himself in a bad light swiping someone else’s stuff when Tony said no. Could Tony question his loyalty? Could he see him as a rival?

Furio - what’s with the vanishing? A foreshadowing? Who is he with? Another crew? Cops?

Ralphie. Bad temper. Tony hates him. He’swith Tony’s sister. Dead meat.

BTW, no-show vs no-work - didn’t Christopher say he wondered what not to wear to work? I think he took a no-show, but stops by to check the crew.

Speaking of Furio, did anyone else notice the sexual tension between Furio and Carmella?

Haj

Haj: yeah, it was clear in last week’s episode that Carmela was kind of hot for Furio.

Which led to a nice bit of dialog in this week’s episode. Carm is trying to convince Tony to oppose Meadow going to Europe. She suggests (as a bad thing) that she might fall for some foriegn guy.

Tony replies that it might be OK if she found a “real Italian” – “take Furio for example.” Which shuts down that line of questioning from Carmela.

I met Furio this past weekend.

From his interviews I have heard him on, he seems like a consummate professional and a overall nice guy

What was he like?

He was a very nice guy. He was promoting Comcast, HBO, and/or the Sopranos at a local mall. It wasn’t the “hurry along now” type of meeting. He took a photo of me, then one of me and my 2 year old son.

Me and Furio

Hope that link works.

“No-shows” are also mentioned in Reservoir Dogs, when Michael Madsen gets a “job” from Lawrence Tierney. Since he’s on parole he needs something to show to his officer that he’s “reforming” and staying in the area. He can go out and do illegal stuff for Tierney, and if the gov’t checks up on him at the jobsite, someone can say that he “just stepped out”, then call him and tell him to come in for a while to satisfy the gov’t.

I’m guessing “no-works” are the same idea, except since they’re always on-site, someone with the mob can tip them off that someone’s coming and they can suddenly get to work, again just for appearances. They can’t be all no-shows since it would be hard to convince the gov’t that a dozen or so parolees are out getting building supplies.

As for someone getting killed, it’s probably going to be someone fairly major, like Silvio or Paulie, and in the middle of the season for the shock value. I’m still hoping for an all-out war before the show ends.

IIRC, she wouln’t have to be mirandized unless she was in custody and being asked accusatory questions. She was told that she was NOT under arrest, meaning she was not in custody. They told her that her arrst status could change, but that’s OK.

And if she’s mirandized, everything she says can used against her. Or did you mean “if she isn’t mirandized”?

Spooje,
You are right. I meant if she wasn’t.
