Sounds you love

Was watching the first night of college basketball tonight and thought of how much I love the sound of the ball swishing through the net. That’s gotta be one of the sweetest sounds ever.

Any others come to the minds of the IMHO’ers??

Whipped cream being dispensed.

Since I was a kid its been the sound of seagulls and fog horns coming from the bay when it’s misty.

Sometimes late at night when the city quiets down and I’m lying in bed, I can hear the trains pulling in and out of the station way off in the distance.

Somehow these sounds have always been peaceful to me

Gently-falling water…

soft rain…

my fan (I can’t sleep without it)…

Wind chimes and rain on the roof. There’s nothing like laying in bed listening to the world move a few feet away.

Me too rastahomie! my Patton circulator has been running 24/7 for over a year now!! A testament to quality products if there ever was one. The power went out a couple months ago in the middle of the night and I woke up instantly.I was lucky it was a Saturday 'cause I was up for an hour trying to get back to sleep!

The “chugchugchug” of a big, inefficient, fossil fuel burning, carbon monoxide -spewing, environmentally unfriendly, politically incorrect V8 engine on glasspacks (insert Tim Allen grunting here)

Death vocals.

My best friend laughing (it’s so infectuous).

Blast beats.

Beer being poured into an icy cold mug.

V8s- hell yeah! Especially ones that go ripping past our house on lazy sunny afternoons–makes me want to run up to the road and yell, “Take me with you!”

Listening to Mrs. Chalupa sleeping softly next to me in the middle of the night.

The voice of Cilette Swan.

The loud “thock!” that occurs when you’ve won a free game in pinball.

“He shoots, he scores!!! And the Mighty Ducks win it in overtime!!!”

[sub]…okay, so that last one’s a rarity…[/sub]

Soft rain.
Heavy breathing.
Laughter of all sorts.
My ringing phone.
Good music.

Cats purring
Waterfalls
Surf
Rain on the roof
Thunderstorms, the boomier the better
Laughter, especially that of kids
Australian and New Zealand accents
Air going through a scuba regulator

Wind chimes? Can’t stand 'em.

No one has mentioned music yet? I’d go insane if it weren’t for music…

Sorry i didn’t see that hypergirl had music until AFTER i posted. :o

Hopefully not right together…

Rain on a tin roof
thunder
a military unit singing cadence
Jennifer Lien’s voice (Kes from Voyager)

Steady rain on a tin roof
Military jet noise (very different from airliner noise)
Blues guitar played just right…
The Great Highland Bagpipes.
A cat purring (verrrrry relaxing for some reason…)

a brand new piccolo snare drum
the cracking of a beer can pop top
waves lapping the shore (on the Atlantic)
the beeping of my microwave
the sound of my engine winding out when I shift into fifth gear

the sweetest sound i’ve ever heard: “i love you, too.”
(from my boyfriend, ryan)

also, i’m a sucker for beautifully orchestrated and flawlessly executed Drum & Bugle Corps marching exhibitions… there’s something about the sound of a perfectly in-sync drumline and an in-tune slew of brass instruments that sends chills down my spine.

The sound of a perfect serve comin of a racket
The sound of a clean and crystal clear synth bass line
The sound of my pants, hitting the floor
The sound of Metal on Metal
The sound of Dave Gahan soothin me with his sweet vocal delivery
The sound of my car starting
The sound of absolute and utter silence

“dinner!”
thunderstorms; windier and boomier = more peaceful
an F-4 using afterburners - those babies could sure rattle the windows
the wind through a forest at night

and best of all is my girlfriend’s heartbeat
