Some friends of ours have offered to put us up whilst we look for an apartment and job etc.
They live in Alabama, near Montgomery.
Any dopers around there?
I’m in Alabama, a good three hours or so away from Montgomery, though.
I live about 4 hours away from Montgomery in Huntsville.
So, you moving there for the long term?
Osip
Well, Montgomery isn’t That far from Atlanta! Where are the Atlanta dopers?
I’m 3 hours away, but in Jackson, MS
Looks like the Atlanta Dopers will be having another gathering around Christmas (when I’m in town), vanilla. Will you still be in Montgomery then?
Vanilla, I know you werent asking for advice here, but you know what I’m like…
You need to get some stability for that boy of yours, you cant keep bumping him all over the place. Where is your family? His fathers family? Where can you live that will offer you good moral support, friends/family for companionship, etc.
And vanilla, peaches, Rose…when you find this place - DONT MOVE.
Good luck.

I’m just south of Birmingham, in Alabaster. About an hour from the Gump, as we call Montgomery.
Warning – Montgomery has probably the most insufferable climate of any city in Alabama. It’s just as hot as everywhere else in the state (topping out above 100 degrees F. today), but the Alabama River flows through the Gump, making it more humid than the surrounding locales.
kelli: i love ya!
We had lived in a western suburb of Cleveland all his life, we visited Utah thinking we could make a go of it.
I cannot move to Utah as there is nothing there, Mormon doctrine is in error and my future husband will have to be a christian.
We have friends I’ve known for 20 years who live there, Alabama, and we will get to a good church as soon as we get there. They will let us stay with them til we get a job and apartment. I hate coldness and winters so it is good in that way!
The couple have children my sons age(7) to play with.
N
o, I won’t be moving back north, I hate cold winters.
Its not a big city, which I do like, but we will be 20 minutes from Montgomery. 3 hours from Birmingham.
So I will definitely be at the Atlanta dopefest!
Kelli,
Everyone knows you mean well. However, I must point out that my family moved frequently and sporadically all over the US from the time I was two until I was old enough to start wandering around the country on my own and I have suffered no ill effects from my rootless, fluid childhood. I am quite the well-adjusted model citizen. (No, really. That was just a fluke when I killed that busload of nuns dressed in fire fighting gear on their way to save the orphanage. They seemed threatening.)
Good Rose, glad to hear that!
As for you Tymp…
c’mere…I got something for ya…
