Spackling the Crack of Dawn- An Early MMP

I haven’t been doing needlepoint because we have a kitten. Today, I remembered that we have to teach him good manners now because it will be much harder later. I waited until he was finished with an intense wild eyed crazy cat hour (it wouldn’t be fair to set him up for failure) and then started stitching. For the most part, he was very good about it.

FCM I know many people who have had vehicles ruined by kangaroo mice, rats or mice chewing on wires and stuff. Some people say it helps to be sure to run the vehicle daily, others have had your experience.

The only person who every had any success borrowed a rat terrier from a friend (well, friend came with the dog). He opened the truck doors and hood, then let the dog go to town.

It worked. Kinda. The dog killed a rat and the rest of them ran into friends shed.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Meeting daughter, SIL, and Roxy for breakfast at CB this morning. FCD made all the plans and hit me with “Oh, by the way…” after all was said and done. Lucky for him (and me, I guess) I hadn’t already made plans for this morning.

Apart from breakfast, not sure what today will bring. It looks like it wants to rain but accuweather says not till later tonight or tomorrow. But for the next week or so, we’re promised upper 70s/low 80s, which is very unseasonable, but most welcome! I may even get to open some windows!

So onward into the unknown that is today. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 98 with a heat index of around 110 for the day. Could be some rain late afternoon as well. We shall see. I am bein’ feted out at the cee-mint pond today. We shall frolic there for a while (may not be too long due to the heat index) and I am told sup shall be steak, sallit, company smashed N.O.T., bacon wrapped spare guts, rolls, and, of course, cake and ice cream. I have been told, told mind you, that I am not to lift a finger. Good thing I do so well with sloth!

I attempted to post last night but it never went through. Anyone else have that problem?

I did read all but retention is minimal, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, noogies, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around as needed,

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I couldn’t even get the Dope to open on my phone last night at all. I missed you guys!!

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Once that’s done, I’ll shower and get sheveled to take Nelson to the dog park.

Sis called last night. She remembered that she had a doctor’s appointment Wednesday, so she’s delaying her trip until Thursday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Saturday!

It’s a nice 64 degrees outside.
It was perfect dog park weather. Comfortable for us people and cool enough for the dogs to play. Even lazy ass Ripple got some good running in.
Echo behaved with Panini today.
I feel so bad for Panini though, she is always so happy to see me but can’t come near me or Echo goes after her. Yet Echo is fine with Panini’s sister Bread climbing all over me.

I woke up at 2 and had a hard time getting back to sleep. So, there may be a nap happening today.
Other than that, I don’t know what else I’m doing today. There’s a lot to do.

Have a Happy Celebration Day Swampy!

I work a short-ish late shift tonight, so I have the morning to myself.

I really should get the next rat tub set up & switched out. Have fallen behind on that rotation and the nose knows.

I really could put away this laundry that’s been sitting around forever. It ain’t gonna do that itself.

But I have a gigantic case of the donwanna and am sitting on my steps, tossing peanuts for the birds (and so Monkey can chase each one) and working another row on a cross stitch hoop.

Morning all. Decided with the heat to mow the front yard today and the back yard on Sunday. Just waiting for the yard to dry out some after the rain yesterday.

Outside of mowage, nothing much else planned. Did find 2-3 items of shopping that I forgot yesterday, so need to be off to the store this weekend, but nothing critical.

Everybody have a good Sattiday.

Good to know it wasn’t just me and my tablet. I even restarted the thing, thinking it needed fresh electrons or something…

Still selling ratties?

We had a nice family breakfast at CB, but Lisa wasn’t working, dammit. I want her to meet Roxy! Our server was OK, but not nearly as attentive as our favorite. Oh well.

FCD is back at his desk. I don’t know what I’ll do today. I just want to plant my butt in the recliner and read, but I really need to push around the vacuum cleaner and load the dishwasher and run a load of work pants for FCD and iron some of his shirts. He bought 4 new pairs of pants that need to run thru washer to de-stiffenize them. Maybe I’ll start that first.

But I’d still rather sit and read…

I prolly otta take advantage of the nice weather, it’s a lovely 62 and sunny, and get a coat of paint on the side of the house. But like shoe I’ve got a case of donwanna, and I slept wrong so my back hurts. I think a trip for groceries is in the plans.

Good morning everyone.

Other than watering the lawn, cleaning the kitchen, watering my posies, edging around my gardens,
and dealing quickly with a couple of work issues, I indulged in a day of sloth yesterday. I work hard, it’s not going to kill me to indulge myself once in a while.

Temps reached over 90 degrees here, which meant bringing in the suet because it was starting to become melty and gloppy. We bagged it up and stuck it in the freezer until around 7:30 last night and put it back out there for the birds.

It’s actually spitting a little bit of rain off and on this morning. Not enough to make anything truly wet, but there were some actual raindrops. I need to mow the lawn this morning and tidy up the kitchen. The husband wants to go to lunch somewhere, but we haven’t decided where yet. If we opt not to go to lunch, I’m going to treat myself to a pedicure. I’ll also stop at Safeway to pick up a few items.

The husband has decided not to socialize in person with an old/neighbor friend of ours. They had become quite chummy over the last year again, but D refuses to get the COVID vaccine. We think he’s being a dumbass, and given that things are ramping up again (mask mandates are in place again here), we’re both more than a little frustrated with him. We are both vaccinated, but the new Delta variant seems to be getting to vaccinated people. Worse, we don’t want to pass anything on to our kids and grandkids. Sadly, since we moved from our old neighborhood back in 2003, lots of very conservative and conspiracy whack-a-doodle people have moved in there. The guy that moved into our old house believes in the whole contrail thing. He has sucked D into that mess. We don’t talk about politics or any of the other whacky stuff they seem to believe in when D is here, so we remain friends, but the vaccine thing is different. I’m really sick of these idiots, and to be honest, I have a hard time feeling bad for them when they contract the virus. It sounds cold, but so is these people refusing to deal with the fall out of them not getting vaccinated; spreading it, getting it themselves, prolonging this way of life for everyone. Sorry; rant over.

It’s kind of nice listening to the pit-a-pat of the raindrops falling outside. It’s still not really wetting anything down though. In about 30 minutes I’ll head outside to mow the lawn and get that out of the way before I shower.

Hashbrowns and bacon are cooking. We may finish breakfast by nine this time.

More sorting and stacking wood on the agenda today. Once I sort and stack the wood I want to keep, I’ll stack the termite damaged/infested wood across the street for people to use in their campfires.

I also need to start building a woodshed out of the plywood from the construction desk leftover at irk.

Yesterday I went to Maaco for a ‘dry fit’, and they said my aftermarket front bumper cover will fit and I’m good to go. Once they paint it, I’ll take the car in to have them put it on.

@ sigh @
It hasn’t rained here for like 2 months. (I’m too lazy to look it up). We’re planning a garage/moving sale for next weekend.
They’re predicting rain.

I believe there was some scheduled maintenance on the Dope last night.

It may seem cold-blooded of me, but I feel the same way about anti-vaxxers that Capt. Kirk felt about the Klingons (Capt Kirk) “Let them die!” (/Capt Kirk). They’re polluting the gene pool.

Sorry 'bout that.

Happy Sattiday, y’all.

So it’s been hot in the hub. Like “Bull of Phalaris” hot, with humidity to match. Glad it’s my day off tomorrow.

[Columbo]Oh, and one more thing…[/Columbo]

Good morning, Mumpers, and Happy International Swampy Day!

My plans got postponed. A friend is coming to pick me up–I have a big bag of culled-from-my-closet clothes for her sister–and we’re supposed to go walking and maybe attend an outdoor festival (masked). That was supposed to happen an hour ago, but her son has the car and won’t be back until 10 a.m., so now we’ll be walking just as it’s getting hot. Hopefully it’ll stay cloudy.

I couldn’t get on the Dope last night for awhile, and like FCM, tried to appease the Net Gods by throwing new electrons at them. If it was scheduled maintenance, it would’ve been nice of TPTB to let us know in advance.

I’m really just furious with those who refuse to get vaxxed and frustrated no end with those on the fence. Ignorance and/or arrogance on the part of some should not steer the course of the pandemic and endanger the rest of us.

Swampy, enjoy your Day of Sloth and Swell-ebration! I love that OYKW has decreed you won’t lift a finger. He’s obviously sweet on you.

Taters, I’m going to have to look up the contrail thing. I must have missed that one.

Moooom, FCD’s shirts require pressing? They’re not wrinkle-resistant or Perma-Press? Clearly, my ignorance needs fighting. Truth be told, I haven’t used my ironing board in over 5 years. I discovered wrinkle-release spray over 20 years ago and never looked back. Hope you get plenty of reading time today!

Or nine thirty…

They’re cotton or cotton/poly, and since I mostly hang clothes out on the line, they stay wrinkled. I don’t mind ironing them, tho. It’s a simple, mindless chore.

I just finished putting his new pants thru the washer/dryer, and they’re much softened. Duluth Trading fire hose cargo pants - very stiff out of the package. I had to get him to do a closet purge and I’ve now got a garbage bag absolutely packed full of pants, some practically new, that have been taking up closet space for years. He’s gained weight so they don’t fit and even if he is able to exercise and lose after the knee replacements, it’ll be a while, at which point, he can get new jeans. So the thrift store is about to get a bonanza. But I’ll need a cart to haul them in - 30-ish pairs of mens jeans and khakis are heavy!!

Anyway, I’ve accomplished something. Go me! And back to my book now.

Front yard has been mowed and now it’s dodging raindrops to get the back mowed either tonight or tomorrow morning. 40% chance of rain tonight, so we’ll see if I want to gamble.

Bathage is in the near future. Everyone take care.

Happy Saturday afternoon, all!

Yesterday’s plan to just “finalize one or two things” with my boss before leaving early turned into a 2-hour conversation that covered several topics and included me volunteering to help with a proposal (1.5 years ago I was a proposal manager, and three years before that I was a proposal writer). It was a good talk, though, and nice to do it face-to-face. But I didn’t leave the office until after 5pm, so I decided to go straight to my friends’ house. I figured it would be less stressful/confusing for the dog to leave her alone for longer than planned vs running home and leaving again right away. She seemed none the worse for wear when I finally got home, except she’d been “holding it” for almost 12 hours (such a good dog!!!) and she peed for so long that she got bored and started walking around the yard while she was still peeing. Heh.

Dinner was great, and it was good to see my friend’s sister. It was a short-ish visit, because my other friend wasn’t feeling well and also I needed to get home to the doggy, but I’d say it was quality time. I’ll see her again in November, when she and her family come for Thanksgiving (I’ve been having Thanksgiving with them for years).

Tonight is more jazz in DC — same venue I went to last weekend, same friends. We’ll be meeting a mutual friend there, who will make up our fourth. I haven’t seen her in a year, so I’m looking forward to that. DC has started requiring everyone to mask indoors again, but luckily this an outdoor venue. And the weather should be cloudy but tolerable!

I’m with those who are completely out of patience with the anti-vaxxers. I keep thinking of the old saying “your right to swing your fist ends at my nose”: your right to be an idiot ends when it starts affecting/restricting my rights.

Lunch was Rice-A-Roni, and I’m about to have one or two of the homemade chocolate chip cookies my friends sent me home with last night. Tonight I’m planning to have beef enchiladas (again; they’re so yummy!), and definitely some kind of dessert. Today is kind of a festival of foods I won’t be able to have anymore post-surgery.

It must be contagious: there was yardwork and laundry that I could/should have done today, but…
