Yes. It is necessary punctuation, as are the various apostrophes used in names, and possessives like Shepherd’s pie.

I just don’t want the emphatic !!! at the end of answers, and stuff like that. Or quotes around movie titles, because not everyone will use them. Also periods at the end. I have to tell you, I feel so harsh when someone leaves a stray period in…
