Spiderman 3 trailer (open spoilers for trailer)

So the Spiderman 3 trailer just came out! What do y’all think?

I had been worried about it being pulled off, but it looks pretty good. Spiderman versus sandman, green goblin mark two, and venom! The MJ romance is going good until Spidey goes over to the dark side of revenge. The only glaring possible lameness is they omehow they retcon the sandman as being Uncle Ben’s real killer. That 70s show guy has some sort of part. No sighting of Peter’s supposed alternative love interest yet though. I’m thinking Aunt May will hook up with the police chief.

Am seriously loving it. I will definitely be seeing this one.

Looks awesome. I can’t wait!

Disappointed that we didn’t get to see Venom. Also a little disappointed that the black costume isn’t really the black costume.

Movie storyline spoiler:

If you’re wondering, the “That 70’s Show guy,” Topher Grace, is Eddie Brock.

I dunno. I really liked the first two, but this one doesn’t make me excited at all - feels a bit lame, actually.

Seems to suffer the same fate as the first set of batman sequels, more and more villians in the same movie. Could be a little cluttered. I’m suprised they didn’t have MJ saying the “great power/responsibility” line, everybody else got a chance!

Man, that costume just canNOT stay on or intact, can it?

And, sadly, I’m not talking about Kirsten Dunst. Dang.

Spider-Man. Two words, hypenated.

May 4 is so far away.

Looks very cool. Just hope they don’t fuck up the ending…

How pleasing! It does look like a lot going on. Maybe too much to cram into one movie. Is it too soon to ask if there are any plans for a Spider Man 4?

At the end of the clip, there’s a flash of Peter next to a blonde woman. If the police chief is Captain Stacy, then I’m assumiing the blonde is his daugther Gwen; who was his original love interest in the comics.

That’s Peter Parker’s love interest, not Captain Stacy’s. Who was her father. 'Cause that would be just wrong.

Really.

Does anyone else think it’s kind of silly that they’re claiming Sandman was the one that actually killed Ben? They couldn’t just make him a criminal, but now it’s gonna be personal.

How will they swing that anyway? Was there any loophole in Ben’s killing that could possibly be pried open so that it wasn’t the bleached robber that did it? And wouldn’t that lessen a lot of Peter’s guilt over Ben’s death?

Gwen Stacy will be played by Bryce Dallas Howard in the film, so the character is there and will be more than a cameo role.

The Sandman is not the person who killed Uncle Ben. Sandman is being played by Thomas Haden Church. The killer is played by Michael Papajohn.

Unless someone pulls a “Secret Wars” movie out of their ass before next May! Can you imagine the cast?

In the Blue Cornah!:

Captain America - Matt Salinger
The Hulk - Eric Bana
The Human Torch - Chris Evans
Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr. (don’t quibble about Iron Man/War Machine!)
Mister Fantastic - Ioan Gruffud
She-Hulk - Brigitte Neilsen (Look it up. shudder)
Spider-Man - Tobey Maguire
The Thing - Michael Chiklis
Thor - Eric Allen Kramer
Colossus - Daniel Cudmore
Cyclops - James Marsden
Magneto - Ian McKellen
Nightcrawler - Alan Cumming
Professor X - Patrick Stewart
Rogue - Anna Paquin
Storm - Halle Berry
Wolverine - Hugh Jackman

And in the Red Cornah!:

Doctor Doom - Julian McMahon (or Joseph Culp, if you’re feeling nostalgic)
Doctor Octopus - Alfred Molina
The Lizard - Dylan Baker

As yet uncast:

Spider-Woman
The Wasp
Titania
Enchantress
Absorbing Man
Kang the Conqueror
Klaw
Molecule Man
Ultron
Volcana
Bulldozer
Piledriver
Thunderball
Wrecker
The Beyonder
Galactus

Plus a CGI effect here and there. Might cost a pretty penny…

That’s not what this new trailer is showing. It shows photos and images of Church while a voiceover (I’m assuming from the cop) says, “This is your uncle’s actual killer.” And then later Spider-Man is confronting Sandman and says, “Remember Ben Parker?” To which Sandman says, “What does it matter to you anyway?!” Papajohn was the killer in the first movie, but it sounds like they’re re-writing that bit of history. Which also means that Peter killed the wrong guy.

I’d stand in line to watch this movie.

Did I mention it would also be 24 hours long? Figure 2 hours for each issue, excluding the individual titles lead-ins.

Oh, and so not to hijack the thread: trailer = good, Sandman retcon = bad.

Someone asked over on Livejournal who would win in a fight between all three Sandmans of comics fame. Another person replied that it would be a very, very short fight.

Hate the Sandman retcon in this movie, kinda meh about the rest. I agree that it looks too cluttered–you’ve got to deal with Venom / Eddie Brock, Sandman, Harry Osborne turning into the Green Goblin…

Not too thrilled about it, to be honest.
