Here’s a (unintentionally) funny article about the first episode. A whole piece built around the implications of Jedi Master Moss reporting an “unregistered force user” during the battle. Except what she actually said was “an unidentified force user”…
I really like Sol and the story, but there are details that are clunky to me (make up, acting, dialog, etc. Not all of it but enough here and there that it takes me out). And some things, like Yord’s hair, are fucking awful, but the hair in the OT was pretty bad when the 70s/80s seeped through. So, like twins as characters, it carries on a SW tradition. I might start calling him Jedi Gen-Z. I swear I saw him when I dropped my kid off at school.
My theory right now about the twins is that it is more of a Bart and Hugo situation and they tried to kill the wrong one.
In the context the mistake makes little difference. It follows the “who trained you?!?” The implications in that scene stand: the Jedi keeps tabs on who gets trained in use of the Force and someone trained outside their watchful eyes, outside their control, is a worrisome issue, not allowed. There is no registering Force users because the only path to using the Force is under their control. The implication is they would enforce that, and there is little doubt to my ear that they would have no problem being judge jury and executioner.
Ah, my apologies. Yes, they should have given that cyborg a restraining bolt.
I think this is accurate and more interesting. It puts the Jedi in a much darker context than we have seen. I wonder if that’s their deal with politicians? The politicians stay out of their way as long as the Jedi patrol and control their own, being all force wielders. It might explain why most Jedi we see react negatively to any non Jedi type, regardless of their intentions.
Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Story and characters were decent, but what I really enjoyed was the tone and design of it - it seemed like the most Star Wars-y of all the series so far… I loved all the different planets, the aliens, the Jedi mumbo-jumbo, etc.
That didn’t bother me at all. She (and the jedi in general) have had millenia of peace. They have grown complacent and overconfident.
And her opponent isn’t just some random person… but a force user, who can presumably act much quicker than a normal human, and possibly in a way that is much harder to force-anticipate for whatever reason.
We’ve seen Jedi killed by non-force-users before. They’re not invulnerable.
I don’t know if any mean to control every use of the Force, but I think they very much want to have the exclusive right to weaponize the Force. That’s why she asked who trained her - because Force users who have been trained in combat are inherently a threat to the Jedi Order.
I liked the first two episodes well enough. it has a good and feel but the dialogue is sometimes a little off. Too modern and 21st century America sounding but this is a problem on a lot of shows.
I also couldn’t help but nitpick when in the first episode the Green Head says “We want to keep this quiet” but a second later says she wants them to “make an example of her”. Those are the opposite things. You yell examples loud and clear, not keep them quiet. Like I said, nitpick.
Is it possible to jump the shark in episode 3 of a new show? The first two episodes had some redeeming features. This new episode was filled with cringy acting, bad plot, poor special effects, and terrible dialogue. I turned it off with 5-10 minutes left. I might come back and try to finish it if I hear that things improve.
Disney plus has not been doing to well for me lately. I have not liked the Secret Wars, Echo, Ahsoka, and now this show. And I am a huge Star Wars/Marvel fan.
