I think he just made his intimidation check and the asshole uncle was ready to drop the charges to avoid the fear of a beating just as the blinds were closed.
My daughter and I were watching it last night and we agreed at least; that is what happened. Pat probably doesn’t have it in him to torture a clueless asshole but did have it in him to intimidate said.
Which raises the question of where Rick’s going to live now. Not with his uncle, I bet. Wouldn’t be surprised if the uncle left town. Is there room at Courtney’s? How about with Dr. McNider, once he gets a place to live. Or maybe he’ll camp out with Solomon Grundy in the woods.
Wonder if the final showdown goes like this: 1. JSA defeats Eclipso. 2. Cindy somehow double crosses the JSA. 3. While she’s doing the villainous monologue, Grundy shows up and saves the day. 4. And then Grundy dies, just because it would be sad and dramatic.
Would have been nice to see a little explanation of why Starman was so delayed (and arrived at the last minute). Easy fix would be that Eclipso has a shield around Blue Valley, which is weakened when he gets zapped and punched various large and powerful creatures, allowing Starman through for the final confrontation.
Prince Ra-Man was showing in the cinema on Main Street where the JSA was battling Eclipso. The character of Prince Ra-Man would regularly battle Eclipso in the pages of House of Secrets.
A perfectly predictable season finale. I mean, was there ever any doubt that the JSA would triumph over Eclipso? Yet it still managed to hit all the right notes.

Rick calling in Solomon Grundy
Courtney finding the darkness within, just like Eclipso wanted.
Starman showing up just in the nick of time.
Courtney overcoming the darkness within with the Power of Love. Note to The Flash: That’s how you do it.
The Cosmic Staff + the Green Lantern ring + the Thunderbolt turning Eclipso into literal toast.
Rick buried Grundy and planted an apple tree on the grave, which was a nice touch. I’m sure Grundy will be back.
The Crocks ultimately didn’t do much, but that was just a setup for next season, where they’re moving in next door.
Because the little brat spoke the truth. He need everyone to be there and he needed Courtney to find the darkness within her for his plan to come to fruition.
It doesn’t matter. You can just ignore him or even leave the room.
“That’s it. I don’t have to hear this. I’m out of here.”
Brat (following like a lost puppy): “Wait, you have to hear this.”
“No I don’t.” (walking out)
Brat: (yipping at your heels): “I’m telling the truth.”
“So what? I don’t care.”
Brat: You’re not listening to meeeeeee.
“Precisely.”
Brat: “It’s not fair”
As for the show, it was just another boring superhero showdown. (Also, the Shadow coming back was just plain cheap theatrics). I was very disappointed in this season, which only had a handful of good moments and a lot of “Look at me, I’m daaaaarrrk” crap. Most of the quirkiness that made the show a good one last season was ignored.
There was a throwaway line to the effect that Artemis broke her parents out of jail. But at the end, we find out that the Crocks bought the house next door. Something’s not adding up.
By thinking of him as a brat, you’ve already let him get into your head. Exactly what he wants! Beth and Charles could see him for what he truly was, but that didn’t matter. He already had a contingency plan in place – trapping Beth’s parents in a “divorce” scenario.
There was a time skip at the end. Courtney said that it was the last day of Summer School for her, right before the Crocks knocked on the door. So Artemis busted her parents out, they somehow stayed out, and after a month(?) they bought the house next door.
Thinking of him as a brat – and unimportant – means you don’t worry about what he says. I suppose you could call that getting into your head, but it completely neutralizes him.
If you think he’s unimportant, you don’t give a damn what he says. And Beth and Charles already knew that any scenario he shows them is ultimately bullshit.
It’s not just you you have to worry about. If Eclipso shows Artemis an image of you attacking her parents, ignoring Eclipso won’t keep Artemis from beating you up.
Mark Merlin had his own series for several years before they came up with the Prince Ra-Man alter ego (and which sounds like a brand of noodle soup). He was supposedly a descendent of the magician Merlin, and a “psychic detective” in his own right, who could project his soul into a cat. I read a couple of his comics when I was little (and still have them).
Oh, I’d forgotten that. It’s still better than what she has now.
And one more thing that’s still hanging fire: Has it been established that Eclipso was behind Yolanda’s vision (or whatever it was) of Brainwave? If not, then add that to the list.
