Stocking up on MMPs

I saw that, too, and had to share it with the spousal unit!

There’s no such thing! I frequently read without responding, but then I hate “Me, too” posts so if it’s been said a few times, I don’t bother. Plus sometimes, I just don’t feel conversational.

Correction, a bad Mumper would post a picture with the caption “Does this look infected to you?” yeah, that would be bad… :stuck_out_tongue:

FCD asked me to set the alarm for 6, which I did. About 5:15, he woke and climbed into the shower. By the time the alarm went off, he was gone. But I’ll leave it set anyway, on the chance that he actually gets some sleep some day. My sleep was much broken by incredibly bizarre dreams, but I did get some rest, I think.

Today has started at a glorious 64°. I plan to give the house a good going-over - it’s a random mess in here. And I’ll create my chore chart. But the biggie is to dig thru the random paperwork I haven’t filed in forever and see if I can find an unpaid bill from the IRS. I was sure I’d already paid them about what they billed us for yesterday, but a review of our bank statements was fruitless. Either I forgot to pay it back then, or I’m remembering a similar bill from a year ago. Regardless, I’m probably going to have to write them a check. Dammit.

I don’t think I told you about the new game Roxy invented yesterday, tho I did put it on FB. She took a bunch of the generic Solo cups and lined them up on my treadmill. Then she turned it on and they all rolled to a pile at the end! The child was highly amused! Cracked me up, too!

OK, time to finish my morning surf so I can shower, dress, and start adulting. Whether we go to the ballgame this evening is TBD, based entirely on how my poor sweetie feels. I don’t know whether I want to go or not, so I’ll leave it up to him.

Happy 48th anniversary of me joining the Navy!! Was 1973 really that long ago???

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 86 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day. We did indeed get our new dryer yestiddy mornin’. HUZZAH! This means laundry gets accomplished as the big chore of the day. Dependin’ on the weather, I also intend to get Tom plopped down in his space. Sup shall be leftovers from last night’s sup.

Nellie glad you heard from your son finally and that all is well.

shoe you’re a good friend for takin’ chikin soup. Also, yeah, that line cracked me up too.

red hope today is better.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It is 19C/67F out there today, lovely and cool for my morning walk to the station as I’m on campus today. It’ll be a bit warmer for the trek back home and I am due to leave in about 45 minutes. It’s been quiet-ish here today, the postie came round earlier and I’ve given either keys or door codes to three other people. Other than that, it’s been pretty quiet.

I’ve filled out the requisite paperirk for the cat-sitter, printed out a bunch of things I need for our trip south, arranged a day out with a friend while we’re there, and found a discount train ticket to use for our days out as I do not plan to drive much at all from the point we arrive to the time we head home.

Tonight’s big adventure will be grocery shopping, assuming the supermarket has anything in stock since we’re being threatened with all sorts of shortages since we now have no HGV drivers left to shift stuff around the country to the supermarkets’ supply depots. As long as there’s cat food, all will be well.

Morning all. Up early but got distracted with soccer and other stuff (I won the daily caption contest here and had to come up with a picture…what do you think?) (A Genuine Caption Contest - #4176 by The_Stainless_Steel_Rat)

Had a weird event last night–took the plastic lid off my big jar of Cheese Balls (made the mistake of passing by them in Wal-Mart), got my Pepsi, and then…the lid had disappeared! Literally in seconds. Looked all around and couldn’t spot it, even checked the dishwasher since the jar was right above it in case it had slipped down…nope, completely gone. Even had the plastic wrap down to cover the jar. Then started to put my dishwasher dishes away and…there on the shelf…I know I probably put it there but I swear I don’t recall doing it…so either my short-term memory is going or I have a poltergeist…

Boo fae, enjoy the trip and the shopping adventure.

swampy, yeah on the dryer.

FCM, bet that’s not the last time Roxy stacks cups (or something else) on the treadmill. Best keep an eye on her.

nellie, I used to click at random on the hearing test where they send very faint tones over the headphones. Glad the eyes are doing better.

Oopsie, there is no such thing as a bad Mumper…just some that get distracted for awhile. And best on the screening, sticking pointy objects into me is my version of hell…

red, you take care of yourself now. No more low BG readings.

OK, best be about the rest of the day. All y’all take care.

Work went well. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Brown is back to that. Which is only bad in the Smalls loft. Isweat so muh up there, I waterboard myself with my mask.

She’s gonna be the Catapult Officer on the USS Nimitz before you know it.

She’s put all sorts of things on the belt - trucks, small plastic farm animals, dolls, her butt… But this is the first time she deliberately loaded the belt, then turned it on. I think we need to keep her away from train sets, lest she pull a Gomez Addams

I wore my mask today when I was erranding. Except when I stopped for Amish corn - the stand is outside. I washed all of my masks last week, thinking I’d be putting them away. Hah! They’re back in rotation.

Very nice

I’m trying a new thing in order to try and instill a wee bit more order here. I’m setting an alarm every 90 minutes or so and then spending a few minutes doing something. I have to be careful not to do too much at a time, or I flare and do nothing for days, but I also have to get something done about the house, for my own sanity if not anyone else’s.

Dinner tonight will probably be pork roast. I’m going to try slow cooker apple sauce and we’ll see how it goes.

Everyone can rest. swampy can get off the fainting couch. TP, Kleenex, and paper towels have been procured. I’m set for another month. My sister has at least 70 rolls of TP stockpiled so if I run out, I can drive to her house and snag a few. Yesterday I was in my old work neighborhood so I stopped in the hot dog place. I hadn’t been there in at least 20 years and it was like a time capsule. Nothing had changed. The lady behind the counter 20 some years ago was still there and hadn’t aged. Food was as good as ever.

Just had a scare. My sister actually called me on the phone. Usually that means there’s some dire crisis, like our parents had an accident, but no, it was trivial, thank dog. It seems the state sent her an update on her life insurance and her toxic ex was still listed as beneficiary, so she wanted my info to put in place.

But those few seconds where her name popped up on the caller ID were bad.

Just figured out the IRS thing. In May, they sent us a refund of $511 and change. This bill we just got is for that same $511 and change, plus interest and penalties.

Bastards. I think I’m going to mail a copy of the letter from May and a check for the $511, but not the interest and penalty. We’ll see how that goes.

Bastards.

There’s something really sickening about discovering an old friend has devolved into a right-wing whack job who doesn’t think people should be required to get a vaccine against the “WuFlu”, as he calls it. I’ve known him for 45 years. I think I just sent him the last email he’ll get from me. Not even going to try to engage him since he’s always right… and now he’s Right.

Never would have expected this from him.

Happy Toosday!

Beautiful day outside. Was a bit chilly at the park this morning.
I shouldn’t need to pull out long sleeves in August.
Echo was a good girl today. She left Panini alone, even after Panini came over to say Hi to me.
When we got home, the neighbor handed his puppy over the fence to me, so my brats got to play with Kody. They get so excited over puppies.

Not challenging anything on the appraisal since the mortgage company is happy with it and closing has been scheduled. One thing the mortgage company is making the appraisal company fix - they misspelled my name.
Just about the level of incompetence that I have come to expect from companies, and the government too. Reading about FCM’s IRS woes.

I never mean to be rude not answering other posts, but it usually takes me several tries to get a post written and by the time I finish I’ve forgotten what I wanted to say. Either the dogs want out, or the mailman comes and I have to get up and get treats for Ripple for bringing me the mail. Or my son starts talking about something and I have to stop and listen. He’s all caught up in the California suing Blizzard thingie. Or I’m irking and the phone rings and I have to take the call.

I took some shrimp out of the freezer to thaw for dinner. No idea what I’m going to do with it. I wanted raw shrimp, and instead I got a bag of cooked shrimp. I’ll figure out something to do with it.

Got my subscribe and save stuff today. The dogs are always excited when we get deliveries. Their favorite treats were in there, much happiness because we had run out of them.

Ew. Gross.

I’m so sorry. It sucks to discover people you care about are in the “Oh, what, haha, are you serious? Oh, you’re … oh, God, you’re not kidding” camp.

I’ve got a subscribe & save headed my way today (DH’s monthly supply of energy drinks). The Princess got neurotic when she heard activity outside our door, but it was a big delivery for next door (bottled water and paper goods, definitely not mine, haven’t needed to buy those for a while now). Walmart just brought my stuff (and got it right, including the driver not having much trouble finding me). Now assembling an Instacart.

I’m getting mousies flung at me a lot today.

I feel so fortunate in that I have been spared that in my near circle of family and friends. Well, except for the 13yo roomie who lives here every other week~she somehow won’t get vaxxed and doesn’t seem to have any coherent reasons why. Her mom isn’t up to insisting she does, for survivor of intimate partner abuse reasons. I may soon not have any roommates, which will be regrettable.

Hey, @peedin! Happy Cake Day!!:musical_note::notes::tada::confetti_ball::birthday::clinking_glasses::champagne::birthday::confetti_ball::tada::musical_note::notes:

I’m glad you got a kick out of my FB post shoe and Moooooooom.

Yay for the vision improvement nellie! When I first began going to the retinopathist, I pretty much did like you do with some of the vision tests. Mine has improved to the point that I haven’t had to take injections for a few years now.

metal mouse, you do know that poltergeist activity usually centers on adolescents, don’t you? :d&r:

oopsie, my irkplace never dropped the face mask requirements for in person employees. I’m just back to wearing them more in public when inside.

I’m glad that your sister’s phone call wasn’t anything terrible VanGo.

Got the steam mop run the second time last evening and am back to my usual numbers.

Today at irk, I received, of all things, a vintage flip phone that someone was still paying $7 and change a month to insure. :open_mouth: Those are the ones that the company negotiates with the subscriber to provide an updated model, given that we haven’t stocked that model for a decade and it’s not even 4G. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Of course, they had duct taped the mailer to the point that I had to use a box knife to open it. :headsmack:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Today, I restarted wearing a mask in stores. I don’t think I’m a carrier, but I’d rather not take any chances. I’d hate to be responsible for someone getting sick.

No ballgame tonight - FCD really feels awful. He doesn’t need to be hiking from the parking lot to the stadium and climbing up and down between seats and bathrooms and whatnot. So he’s in his recliner, and I’m about to occupy mine. Chillage shall ensue.

Brought soup to friend. Scooped the litter boxes. Sat with her a while, working my small “travel” cross stitch hoop and watching “Third Rock” with her.

It was good to hear her laugh at a few of the best lines. Like, really good.

About as good as laughing along with another human. Funny stuff just isn’t as funny when you’re by yourself.
I’ll admit it, I went there as much for my own sake as for hers. She is my friend, after all. I enjoy her low-key company.

Her lungs are O.K. she mostly got the fever & associated issues (G.I. stuff, lethargy) and missed the breathing problems.

She wasn’t vaccinated (I glared at her soundly) but the scary bit is: a couple of her co-workers WHO HAVE BEEN VACCINATED are out sick with positive COVID results.

Cripes. :grimacing:

Oh, and that’s seven cats, not five. Even having spent the night there, I didn’t get an accurate head count till today. (In my defense, the tabbies and 'meezers look very similar.)

ETA: came home absolutely COATED in cat hair. Life is good like that sometimes.

Howdy Y’all! I did not get Tom plopped down today. Plan B did not work. Tomorrow I attempt Plan C. I actually bought a tool that allegedly will remove stripped screws. I thought about going back again today, but I have to go over tomorrow, so I’ll deal then. It never did rain today but looked stormy a couple of times. Weather be weird.

WetOne glad you are re-stocked. Also, Happy Doperversary!

Shoe what did your feline overlords have to say about you comin’ home coated in strange cat hair? Have you made amends?

Much interested sniffing was involved. Some glaring ensued, but I let 'em out & all was promptly forgiven.

Side bar: I stopped at a local corner store on the way home, where everyone’s friendly to each other.
Guy behind me was all, “Do you have a dog?”
Me: “No, just visiting my friend with a lotta cats.”
Guy: … “Oh.”
Me: { thinking quietly } “Whyyyy?”

Around then, that’s when I looked down and saw that I was absolutely COVERED in cat hair.
