No you are quite right. I forgot all about the “dining with others” stuff and I have done the same thing - bitten my tongue about my meal because everyone else is obviously enjoying theirs. After all I’ve cooked myself meals that were crap.
The king had never left the castle during his long reign. One day, he told his jester, “I am leaving the castle today.” As he stepped outside the gate, he saw the rough and jagged stones on the dirt path that led away from the castle. As he looked about, he said, a bit frustrated, “Have the ground carpeted so I may walk about as I please without discomfort.” The jester, who had been accompanying him, meekly offered the following advice: “Sir, with all due respect, why not just wear shoes? It is a more practical solution, as there will be rocks everywhere you want to go, and this is a much cheaper and easier way to address the problem.”
So the king got the shoes. Everything was fine until he stepped on the sharp, annoying pointy rocks. The ones that said “I can’t believe no one has mentioned…”
So the king had them excavated and ground into powder. The people rejoiced.
