Okay, serious discussion. Your idea doesn’t work because men aren’t interested in emotional porn. I think you’re right, men do enjoy intimacy more than they’re usually willing to admit, but they don’t fantasize about it. They don’t see a woman walking down the street and think, “Man, what would it be like to flirt with her?” They do think, “Man, what would it be like to fuck her?” Porn answers that question. What would it be like to fuck Jenna Jameson? Well, here’s a video that shows you what it would look like. No one sits around wondering what it would be like to share a malt with her. (Hint: use seperate straws) Porn is the way it is because it fills a specific need. They don’t make the sort of porn you’re talking about, because there’s no real market for it among men. Hell, I said I’d watch your porn movie upthread, but after the first viewing, I’d skip the flirting stuff and just get straight to the muff diving.

Well if that’s the case, and you can back that up with scientific data, then I honest to god think my brain is wired much differently than most men.
The thing is I’ve never been much of a “manly” man. I mean I’m not quite Clay Aiken, but really I’ve never been interested in sports, fast cars, or fake boobs. I’m very open about my sexuality and I’ve often wondered if I could be gay. However when I look at a man’s face, there’s just nothing there. Even the “pretty” guys, models or whatever don’t do anything for me.
As far as women go, I’ve always been more attracted to the natural, cute, sweet girls, rather than “babes”. This probably borrows deep into my subconscious, and I don’t quite know what caused it, but at the age of 28 I don’t think it’s ever going to change. I’ve always been this way, and I’ve always thought the porn star look is disgusting.
Does it really matter? Even if you are a bit pinko, so long as you’re happy with yourself then there isn’t a problem… but you can hardly expect the porn industry to be creating such niche products. Then again, they do things with drawfs.
How about market data? Porn’s been around a long time. It’s a billion dollar industry, made up of people who are willing to do absolutely anything for a buck. They’ve figured out how to make money off of people who are sexually attracted to friggin’ balloons. If there were money to be made from men for intimacy in porn, they’d be making it already.
Well, that’s not entirely true, because they do make porn like this. Just not a lot, because the demand is low. But it’s out there if you’re willing to search for it, and if you’re willing to keep your standards realistically low, because with such a small pool of material to work with, you’re going to find a lot of stuff that’s substandard or approaching it from a way you don’t like.
I agree. But when it comes to the kind of girls involved, there’s all kinds of porn out there. I suspect that much of the market for “teen porn” is simply people who prefer the “natural, cute, sweet girls” to the standard porn star look. (Or, as Sage Rat said in this thread, ‘I think that “teen” mostly just means “hasn’t had a boob job.”’
I also sympathize with some of your other points. I, too, think sexual tension can be sexy and that there ought to be a way to work it into porn. I, too, love intimacy and wish there were a good way to simulate that experience with porn. And there probably is something at list kinda close to what you’re looking for out there in the Big Wide Wonderful World of Porn; it just may be hard to find in among all the other stuff that isn’t what you’re looking for.

Seriously, I understand some of what you’re saying and I think you do have a reasonable, underlying question in that porn tends to lack a lot of the more subtle erotic qualities, tension and emotional connections which are part and parcel of real sexual experiences. I think the answer, simply enough, is that those qualities are diffult to translate to a purely visual medium, especially when you don’t have real actors, real writers or a real director. Porn is not about conveying a realistic experience but about quick and easy visual stimulation. Most guys are not looking for a deep emotional experience or a textured erotic journey. They’re looking to yank one out before the game starts.

Well I’ve always been into Japanese Gravure (Idol Video). These videos show very pretty, very sexy models in bikinis or skimpy underwear. Nope, it doesn’t work. In regular movies, there’s tension because you don’t know the ending. The girls could get together or one of them could get hit by a car or, preferably, I could be in the movie and fuck one of them, but there isn’t a set outcome.
